Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 1016: Chapter 480: Fire at the City Gate, Fish in the Pond Suffer (Second Update)

From this perspective, they believe Lawrence Winters’ proposal is feasible and support her approach.

In a five-to-five situation, Quentin Parker, the Supreme Judge, will need to break the deadlock.

Evan Stetford looked expectantly at Quentin Parker.

Quentin Parker crossed his legs, rested one hand on his chin, thought for a while, and said, ”I support Lawrence.”

That makes it six to five, meaning Lawrence Winters can lead a group alone.

At this moment, Ruby Sheldon asked innocently and curiously, ”...but Mr. Parker just recognized Miss Winters as his sister; shouldn’t he avoid a conflict of interest? Can he still vote?”

”What?! Mr. Parker just recognized Lawrence as his sister?!”

”...This really isn’t good; it seems Mr. Parker’s vote should be invalidated then...”

”Not only should it be invalidated, Mr. Parker shouldn’t be the Supreme Judge. With a relationship like that, can we really expect him to uphold fair and impartial principles?”

Not only were people in the small conference room discussing it, but even the audience watching the live broadcast thought the same.

Although the fans of ”Lawrence, the Great Heavenly Master” were the most loyal, in this situation, they didn’t know what to say.

When they realize their idol isn’t in the right, they can only remain silent and accept the criticism.

Mr. Zhuge’s heart skipped a beat; he quickly exchanged a glance with Autumn Stetford, then focused his gaze on Lawrence Winters, scrutinizing her.

Autumn Stetford went from stunned to shocked in a moment.

She quickly regained her composure, looked at Ruby Sheldon unexpectedly, and asked softly, ”Betty, how did you know?”

Ruby Sheldon saw everyone discussing, mischievously stuck out her tongue, ”Miss Winters told me directly this morning... Oh no... Did I accidentally reveal the truth? What should I do? I didn’t mean to...I didn’t intend for Mr. Parker to stop being the Supreme Judge...”

Aiden Sheldon furrowed his brow deeply.

He knew best why Ruby Sheldon said such things.

He also couldn’t understand how the kind and gentle Ruby Sheldon suddenly became so cunning.

Even such intentionally inflammatory words were said so casually, along with that innocent expression, he couldn’t count how many times he had seen it on her face.

Previously, he thought it was the child’s cuteness and mischievousness; now, he felt there was an indescribable malice.

If everyone believed Ruby Sheldon’s words, then Quentin Parker really couldn’t continue as Supreme Judge.

This might offend Quentin Parker.

And every person present couldn’t afford the consequences of offending Quentin Parker.

Even their Sheldon Family is no exception.

Aiden Sheldon sighed deeply, blaming himself for ”failing to teach,” and now he had to step up to help Ruby Sheldon clean up the mess.

He raised his head, his face already restored to a calmness unaffected by the chaos, smiling faintly as he said, ”He only recognized her as a sworn sister; I don’t see any problem.”

”If recognizing a sworn sister means avoiding a conflict by withdrawing from judging, then the three judges from the Celestial Path Sect can all withdraw.”

His words caused another uproar among the crowd.

”Who is this person? He seems so imposing!”

”Yes, yes! He looks so good! So handsome that one forgets his age!”

In the small conference room, Ruby Sheldon was publicly embarrassed by her most admired and trusted father, and tears welled up in disbelief as she looked at Aiden Sheldon, clutching her chest.

She felt so hurt, her heart ached...

But Aiden Sheldon ignored her and continued to speak eloquently.

”Judge Zhuge from the Celestial Path Sect is Mr. Zhuge’s uncle.”

”Judge Xu from the Celestial Path Sect is Mr. Zhuge’s uncle-in-law.”

”Judge Niu from the Celestial Path Sect is Mr. Zhuge’s great-uncle.”

”These three people have direct family relations with Mr. Zhuge, which is closer than Lawrence and Mr. Parker’s sworn relationship. How come you didn’t mention avoiding conflict before?”

”Also, previous competitions held by the Celestial Path Sect never required relatives to avoid judging. If we’re truly pursuing accountability, should Mr. Zhuge’s titles from the past two top competitions be revoked?”

These things are only known by those deeply familiar with the Celestial Path Sect.

And past top competitions at the Celestial Path Sect were hosted by Autumn Stetford; Aiden Sheldon, her husband, assisted her in filling gaps, so he was very familiar with these family relations within the Celestial Path Sect.

His words immediately silenced those calling for Quentin Parker to avoid a conflict of interest.

And only then did Lawrence Winters’ fans joyfully ”take charge,” building on their momentum to strike back at those who had previously scoffed at Lawrence Winters.
