Chapter 226: Chapter 226: The Persistent Su Qingxuan!

”What? You said Master Su is coming over tonight? And to visit the sick?”

Ling Feng, who was practicing swordsmanship in the courtyard of Tianshu East Courtyard, suddenly heard this news brought back by Ouyang Jing and his face instantly darkened, his voice rising an octave.

”Who said I was sick?”

Ling Feng scowled, scanning the crowd.

”Him!” Everyone pointed at Ouyang Jing in unison.

”Boss, I was just trying to cover for you, who knew Master Su would take it so seriously!” Ouyang Jing grimaced, quickly moving forward to serve Ling Feng tea, massage his shoulders and legs, and said with a beaming smile, ”Boss, your brother is truly loyal to you!”

”Enough, enough!”

Ling Feng waved off Ouyang Jing’s hands, realizing that today he would have to pretend to be ill.

The Heir of Medical Saint playing sick...

A sense of resignation arose in Ling Feng’s heart.

...

As time passed, the sky gradually darkened.

Committed to the act, Ling Feng had stripped off his outer clothing early and lay in bed, assuming the role of a sick person.

”Hehe, Boss, thank you for your righteousness in helping me round off this matter!”

Ouyang Jing kept thanking Ling Feng, only to receive a roll of the eyes in return.

But upon reflection, he admitted that he indeed had missed Master Su Qingxuan’s class more often than not and resolved to be more cautious in the future.

Before long, there was a knock at the door, and the male students of Tianshu East Courtyard immediately opened the door, standing neatly in line and respectfully saying, ”Welcome, Master Su!”

Tonight’s Su Qingxuan, in her flowing white dress, exuded an aura of elegance. She gave those guys a look that was none too pleased and said irritably, ”Where’s Ling Feng?”

”Master Su, the Boss is resting and recuperating in the middle room,” Ouyang Jing stepped forward with a smile and led the way.

The door was pushed open and Su Qingxuan entered the room with Lotus Step, then saw Ling Feng lying in bed looking ”sickly” and frowned slightly, her lips parting lightly to say, ”Chief Ling, I hear you’re ill!”

As a Daoist Doctor, Ling Feng, who had perfect control over his body’s meridians, acupoints, and the Six Aura cycles, not only had a knack for diagnosing illnesses but was also a true ”expert” at feigning them.

At that moment, Ling Feng’s face was pale, his forehead hot, dripping with pretend perspiration, looking utterly limp as if he was about to go at any second.

Initially skeptical, Su Qingxuan quickly came forward to touch Ling Feng’s forehead, exclaiming in surprise, ”Wow, why’s it so hot?”

A faint scent wafted to Ling Feng’s nose as he looked up and saw Su Qingxuan’s worried expression, feeling a pang of guilt for deceiving her.

”Thank you for your concern, Master Su. It’s just an old ailment, nothing serious,” Ling Feng said weakly.

”An old ailment?” Su Qingxuan frowned, recalling that Ling Feng possessed Saint Level Fire Attribute True Qi, often overheated, perhaps because he hadn’t fully unlocked his Talent.

”Yes, an old ailment, but I’ll recover by tomorrow. Don’t worry, Master Su,” Ling Feng managed a smile and said in a quiet voice.

”Alright, don’t talk,” Su Qingxuan bit her lip, ”I was really wrong about you before. By the way, I know a few friends from the Daoist Medical Family, should I invite them to come check on you in a few days?”

”No need!” Ling Feng blurted out hastily, ”I know my own condition, my family says that once I’m past twenty, this ailment will vanish.”

”Isn’t that odd?” Doubts arose in Su Qingxuan’s heart, but seeing Ling Feng’s ”sickly” state, she reluctantly had to believe him.

”Okay, you rest well!” Su Qingxuan sighed and gently tugged the blanket for Ling Feng, whispering softly, ”Then I’ll be leaving now, but I hope to see you in my Empire history class next time. Even if you’re ill again, you can have Ouyang Jing inform me first, understood?”

”Mhm.” Ling Feng nodded quickly, relieved inside that he had bluffed his way through!

Su Qingxuan again gave a few more instructions and specifically left behind some elixirs for regulating True Qi before she finally left Tianshu East Courtyard.

Not long after Su Qingxuan had left, those guys outside started to sigh in admiration.

”Wow, what a good instructor, I always hear that female instructors only run to the dean and vice-dean’s offices, but I didn’t expect Master Su to actually come back to care for the students!”

”Hey, and the key point is, she’s so young and pretty!”

”Boss is the boss, could it be that even Master Su...”

Because the door wasn’t shut, all these remarks reached Ling Feng’s ears. His mouth twitched into a spasm as he leapt from the bed, burst out the door, and frowned, ”What the hell are you idiots talking about?”

Hearing Ling Feng’s voice, those guys all shrank their necks and scurried back into their own rooms like smoke.

”Hmph, a bunch of boring idiots!”

Ling Feng huffed lightly and turned to head back to his room, but he heard a round of crisp applause behind him.

”Clap, clap, clap!”

Ling Feng’s eyelids twitched, and he turned around, only to find that it was none other than Su Qingxuan, the beautiful instructor, who had returned!

”Well done, Chief Ling, quite an impressive aura you have there!” Su Qingxuan glared at Ling Feng, and her bright eyes carried a trace of anger!

This damned student, actually pretending to be sick to deceive his instructor!

Luckily, Su Qingxuan had suddenly felt that something was not quite right, turned back halfway to check, or else she really would have been fooled by Ling Feng and those guys!

”Uh...” A sheen of sweat broke out on Ling Feng’s forehead; this time he really couldn’t wash himself clean even if he jumped into the Yellow River.

”Chief Ling, don’t you think you owe me a bit of an explanation?”

”Master Su, things aren’t as you think!” Ling Feng was at his wit’s end and glanced at the tightly shut doors all around; at the critical moment, every single one of them was hiding!

True brothers, indeed!

”Alright, I did fake being sick.” Ling Feng shrugged his shoulders, ”Master Su, whatever you want to punish me with, I’ll accept it!”

”Punishment?” Su Qingxuan glanced at Ling Feng, ”What good would punishing you do?”

Su Qingxuan sighed and slowly walked up to Ling Feng, biting her teeth, ”Ling Feng, do you have any objections to me? Why, according to what I know, have you only been absent from my class alone?”

Su Qingxuan locked eyes with Ling Feng with her lips pressed tightly together.

Ling Feng finally had an epiphany; apparently, what Su Qingxuan had been concerned about all this time was this issue!

For someone who earnestly wanted to become an instructor beloved by her students, this indeed was a major blow.

But could he plainly say that all of this was really just a coincidence?

”Master Su, I have absolutely no prejudice against you.” Ling Feng shook his head, ”On the contrary, you are a very responsible instructor, a very good one!”

”Then why did you miss my class!” Su Qingxuan clenched her fists, her phoenix eyes tightly furrowed.

”I indeed had some personal reasons, but I promise that from now on, I’ll try my best not to miss any of Master Su’s classes.” Ling Feng sighed lightly, as he could only make such a promise.

Seeing Ling Feng’s sincere expression, Su Qingxuan finally huffed, ”Fine, I will trust you this one time, but this is the only time!”

After speaking, Su Qingxuan turned around and walked a few steps toward the door, then turned her head back to look at Ling Feng, ”So, Chief Ling, I hope to see you attending my next class without absence!”

”Definitely!”

Ling Feng nodded his head, watched Su Qingxuan’s leaving figure, and shook his head with a slight smile: This woman, truly persistent and somewhat cute...
