Chapter 217: Chapter 217: Alchemy Master Guild!

Ling Feng was training arduously in the Martial Arts Arena, while on the other side, his mentor and friend, the elder Yan Cangtian, began to stir into action as well.

Now, though Yan Cangtian’s mind was no longer deranged, he had become quite ”cunning.” He knew if the dean and the others found out he had recovered his senses, they would probably saddle him with all sorts of messy tasks, so he decided to continue pretending to be mad.

After all, he had been insane for over a decade; nobody would suspect the old man.

One day, clutching the ”Azure Cloud Pattern Elixir” recipe Ling Feng had given him, Yan Cangtian headed straight to the Alchemy Master Guild’s headquarters, hoping to find those old fellows and see if they were selling materials like the Blazing Blood Dragon Eagle’s eyeballs.

Given his status, if he wanted to acquire these materials, he wouldn’t be running into walls everywhere.

Within the Sky White Empire, masters were as common as clouds, and it wouldn’t be strange if someone had hunted a Demon King Level Blazing Blood Dragon Eagle.

”Excuse me, old sir, who might you be? This is the Alchemy Master Guild; unauthorized persons are not allowed inside.”

A guard standing at the entrance of the guild noticed Yan Cangtian’s ragged appearance, frowned, and stepped forward to block his path.

”Get out of my way!”

Yan Cangtian waved his hand and sent the guard flying. If it weren’t for the fact that the fellow was just doing his duty, that swipe could have taken the guard’s life.

”How dare you!”

The other guards unsheathed their swords with a ”clang, clang, clang” and surrounded him, ready for confrontation.

To cause trouble at the headquarters of the Alchemy Master Guild, this old man must have a death wish!

”Halt!”

Just then, a white-haired elder emerged from the grand hall, dressed in a wide robe, his appearance gaunt, and his body exuding a faint scent of medicine. His eyes were as sharp as a hawk’s.

The guards hastily stood aside, bowing respectfully to the elder, ”Master Shangguan!”

Shangguan Chu nodded, signaling the guards to leave, then swiftly approached Yan Cangtian, saying with a light smile, ”So it’s Master Yan who honors us with a visit. The Alchemy Master Guild is graced by your presence.”

Before his madness, Yan Cangtian was indeed an exceptional Alchemy Grandmaster and one of the honorary vice presidents of the Alchemy Master Guild.

His position at the time was almost on par with Yun Danqing Yun Sect Master.（Recap from ”Chapter 98: Mystery Master”:Yun Danqing, an Alchemy Genius who had been meditating in quiet seclusion at the Cangqiong Sect, also served as a half-mentor to Yuan Qianshen.）

Regrettably, after more than a decade of silence, an old generation was surpassed by a new one. Although the Alchemy Master Guild still maintained legends about Yan Cangtian, his presence had vanished.

”Shangguan Chu? Heh, this old youngster, you seem to have made something of yourself!”

”Before Master Yan, it is nothing.”

Shangguan Chu was extremely humble. Back when Yan Cangtian was at the height of his fame, he was only a Fourth-rank Alchemist.

Yan Cangtian laughed heartily, casually draping an arm over Shangguan Chu’s shoulder, and said cheerfully, ”How’s that old geezer Hong Haotian been? Haven’t seen him for over a decade, got some things to chat with him about!”

”Apologies, Master Yan, President Hong has been in the Southern Border for half a year, claimed he was seeking rare medicinal materials,” Shangguan Chu explained regretfully.

”That old geezer, if he had to leave, why did he have to pick exactly when I arrived!” Yan Cangtian’s eyebrows knitted together, then he asked, ”So who is in charge of the Alchemy Master Guild now? I need to see them!”

”Several vice presidents are also away on business, so currently I’m managing everything,” Shangguan Chu said indifferently.

”Ha! I always knew you had potential, lad!” Yan Cangtian raised his eyebrows, patted Shangguan Chu’s shoulder, and said warmly, ”Brother Shangguan, old brother here might have a small favor to ask of you.”

”Eh...” Shangguan Chu broke into a slight sweat on his forehead. He had heard the rumors about Yan Cangtian, that the man had become somewhat mad, and although his power was erratic, from the way he had launched the guard a moment ago, it seemed that over the years, not only had his strength not declined, but it had become even more terrifying.

Shangguan Chu then said with a slight smile, ”Since it concerns something of Master Yan’s, naturally I cannot shirk my responsibility. Master Yan, please follow me, let’s sit upstairs where we can talk over tea.”

”Haha, let’s go, talk upstairs!”

Yan Cangtian laughed heartily, hooking Shangguan Chu’s shoulder, showing none of the dignified air of a grandmaster.

Shangguan Chu quietly wiped some sweat from his brow, it seemed the rumors that Yan Cangtian has gone a bit mad were indeed true.

Soon, the two arrived at Shangguan Chu’s Quiet Room.

Shangguan Chu gestured for Yan Cangtian to sit down and personally poured him some tea before getting to the main topic.

”Big brother, I won’t beat around the bush,” Yan Cangtian said solemnly. ”I’ve recently come into possession of an Ancient Pill Recipe. I originally came to ask Hong Haotian, that old fellow, if the Alchemy Master Guild’s inventory contains the ingredients I need.”

Upon hearing this, Shangguan Chu’s eyes immediately shone with excitement.

For an alchemist, there was nothing more thrilling than precious ingredients and an Ancient Pill Recipe.

”Gulp.” Shangguan Chu swallowed, his voice tinged with excitement, ”Master Yan, may I ask what Ancient Pill Recipe you’ve obtained?”

”Azure Cloud Pattern Elixir,” Yan Cangtian replied offhandedly.

”Hiss!” Shangguan Chu couldn’t help but take in a sharp breath of air.

The Azure Cloud Pattern Elixir, people of common knowledge might not know, but how could old timers of their level not be aware?

This was a genuine Sixth-level Elixir, and an ancient recipe to boot – something even the President of the Alchemy Master Guild wouldn’t dare claim he could concoct.

Furthermore, this Elixir Recipe has been passed down in several versions, each incomplete—missing at least a couple of dozen ingredients. Even Hong Haotian, the President of the Alchemy Master Guild who once attempted to complete the Azure Cloud Pattern Elixir recipe, ultimately ended in failure.

”You mean, the Azure Cloud Pattern Elixir?”

Just then, a white-haired elder burst into the room with incredible excitement, staring at Yan Cangtian in disbelief.

”Vice President Yun!” Shangguan Chu quickly rose to his feet, respectfully greeting the newcomer.

As it turned out, this white-haired elder was the Honorary Vice President of the Alchemy Master Guild, Yun Danqing.

He had just made the rare trip away from the Heavenly Vault Sect to the Alchemy Master Guild, and as fate would have it, he ran into Yan Cangtian.

Yan Cangtian looked up and exclaimed, ”Old Yun!”

There were not a few people who stood at the peak in the world of alchemists, but true top-tier figures—they numbered only a dozen or so.

As a matter of fact, Yan Cangtian and Yun Danqing had been acquainted for over twenty years.

Yun Danqing looked at Yan Cangtian with great excitement and hastily said, ”Old Yan, let’s not bother with pleasantries. You say you have the recipe for the Azure Cloud Pattern Elixir? Is it the complete recipe?”

”Nonsense, if it weren’t the complete recipe, what would I be searching for materials for!” Yan Cangtian retorted with disdain.

”Does this mean... you’ve actually completed the Azure Cloud Pattern Elixir recipe?” Yun Danqing clenched his fist, ”To think that in twenty years, we have not seen each other, and your knowledge of the Alchemy Dao has far surpassed us old fellows!”

Yan Cangtian’s face turned slightly red as he quickly shook his head, ”I certainly wish I was the one who completed it, but unfortunately, it wasn’t me!”

Yun Danqing seemed to heave a sigh of relief, patting his chest before asking, ”If it wasn’t you, then who was it?”

”You probably wouldn’t recognize him even if I told you; it was a pill recipe given to me by a teenager,” Yan Cangtian shrugged nonchalantly.

Yun Danqing’s expression changed slightly, as if suddenly remembering something, he blurted out, ”That kid, wouldn’t happen to be named Ling Feng, would it?”
