Chaos Heavenly Emperor Technique

Chapter 188: Chapter 188: True Dragon Academy’s ”Poaching

The authoritative-looking scholar scolded Pei Miao and Zhu Rong before turning his gaze to Ling Feng, speaking indifferently, ”I am Academician Ye Guichen from Heavenly Position Academy. Little fellow, I must remind you that although Heavenly Position Academy is a place of cultivation in the form of an academy, mentorship here is also extremely traditional.”

It seemed that he noticed Ling Feng’s confusion, and Ye Guichen smiled to explain, ”At Heavenly Position Academy, besides the ordinary teaching staff and instructors, there is also a type of tutor, just like the ’Master’ you would have in a sect. Once you take someone as your mentor, you cannot change it.”

”With your talent, you will definitely receive the academy’s attention in the future. Having an academician, a vice dean, or even a dean as your teacher is also not out of the question. If you choose the wrong person, though, it is feared that a great future might be ruined.”

Ye Guichen patted Ling Feng’s shoulder and said lightly, ”Alright, go back and properly complete the entrance test.”

”Thank you for the guidance, Academician Ye.” Ling Feng bowed in gratitude to the academician, feeling silently thankful in his heart.

To ordinary people, having a Heavenly-level Tutor was already an incredible mentorship, but for a true prodigy, only those Pillar-level figures within the academy made the best teachers.

”Well, little fellow, work hard. Talent is very important, but in the path of martial arts, temperament is the most crucial. Don’t let some talent make you arrogant,” said Ye Guichen, and with a flick of his sleeve, he turned and left.

Ling Feng couldn’t help but chuckle to himself. This Ye Guichen clearly also wanted to take him as a student, otherwise, he wouldn’t have announced his own name and appeared to instruct him in the manner of a teacher.

He touched his nose, thinking: If there aren’t any other good tutors, choosing this Ye Guichen in the future probably wouldn’t be a bad option.

Only after those few highly esteemed tutors had left did Ouyang Jing dare to approach Ling Feng, saying with a face full of envy, ”Big brother, if only I had half of your talent.”

Ling Feng shrugged his shoulders. When he had joined Wenxian Sect, no one had cared about him, and yet, in less than half a year with the help of the Emperor’s Eye, he had completely transformed into a hot commodity that everyone was vying for.

”Didn’t Academician Ye say so? Talent is important, but so is temperament,” Ling Feng cast an encouraging look at Ouyang Jing and said indifferently, ”Let’s go, we’ll move on to the next stage.”

...

The third stage of the Heavenly Position Academy’s entrance examination was the physical test!

This round, Ling Feng once again made quite an impression, for with the effects of Spiritual Injection, he was found to be a Four-star Human Spirit Body. Although not considered gifted, it was definitely quite a good physique.

Of course, if others knew that Ling Feng’s physique was capable of evolving, they would probably regret their judgment of ”Human Spirit Body” immensely.

Ouyang Jing’s physique was also not bad; he had a One-star Human Spirit Body. With such a physique, there was basically no need to worry about being eliminated by Heavenly Position Academy.

Then came the comprehension test, which went smoothly as well.

The comprehension test at Heavenly Position Academy involved giving a candidate an incomplete Martial Technique and judging their comprehension based on how much of the technique they were able to restore.

Unsurprisingly, Ling Feng demonstrated an astonishing performance in the comprehension test.

In the blink of an eye, the four stages of the examination were almost complete, and it was now noon. With the blazing sun high in the sky, the test paused, and everyone rested for an hour before the examination would continue in the afternoon.

Ling Feng and Ouyang Jing went to seek shade in a nearby forest. After the previous four rounds of examinations, both Ling Feng and Ouyang Jing no longer had to worry about whether they could pass.

They just waited for the final test of willpower in the afternoon to be over, and they would be able to smoothly pass and be enrolled into Heavenly Position Academy.

Ling Feng sat cross-legged in the shade of a tree, but found his thoughts involuntarily turning to Mu Qianxue, that woman; he wondered if she would pass successfully.

In addition, Ling Feng thought of Yue Yunlan. She had once invited him to further his studies at the Heavenly Position Academy, which clearly meant that she too was a student of the Academy.

There was also Lin Xian’er, who seemed to be an elite student of the Heavenly Position Academy, and even a disciple of a vice-chancellor!

At that thought, Ling Feng couldn’t help but shake his head and smile. He hadn’t expected to have so many ”old friends” at the Heavenly Position Academy.

Once settled at the Heavenly Position Academy, he planned to take the time to look for Yue Yunlan and tell her he was now a student of the Academy, so that his subsequent trips to the Cangqiong Sect to perform acupuncture on the Sect Master would no longer be such a hassle.

”Young brother, may I ask if you are Ling Feng?”

Just then, a gentle voice came from the side, sounding very cultured and refined.

Ling Feng turned his head to look and saw a middle-aged man in a dark blue long robe, with a scholarly appearance and a smile on his face, bowing to him with great politeness.

”I am. May I know what you want, sir?” Ling Feng quickly returned the bow and noticed that the robe worn by the man did not seem to be that of a Heavenly Position Academy tutor.

The man in blue immediately stroked his beard and laughed heartily, ”Truly a young talent! My name is Liang Huanzhi, a vice-academician at True Dragon Academy. Recently, I have been visiting the Heavenly Position Academy and didn’t expect the luck to meet such an outstanding young genius like you. Saint Level True Qi talent is one in a million!”

”So it’s Academician Liang. You flatter me,” Ling Feng said, touching his nose, already guessing what the man intended to say next.

”Hehe, young brother, don’t believe the rumors that the Heavenly Position Academy is the foremost among the Four Great Imperial Colleges. In fact, behind True Dragon Academy stands the support of the Sky White Royal Family. If you become a student at our Academy, you are certain to rise to great heights. Becoming a Great General or even a Grand Marshal in the future is well within your reach!”

”Oh?” Ling Feng’s eyelid twitched upon hearing this significant piece of information.

So, behind the True Dragon Academy was the support of the Royal Family!

But what did all of this have to do with him?

He had chosen the Heavenly Position Academy partly because of Yue Yunlan’s initial invitation. Having made his choice, how could Ling Feng easily change his mind?

”What do you think?” Seeing Ling Feng’s hesitation, Liang Huanzhi’s eyes spun around, and he turned to look at Ouyang Jing standing behind Ling Feng, laughing, ”That young brother there, you persuade Ling Feng. If he agrees to join our True Dragon Academy, I can make sure you are also accepted as an Elite Student, with the best treatment!”

”This...” Ouyang Jing felt his heart pounding. The treatment of an Elite Student! Although he had some talent, becoming an Elite Student in an instant meant skipping years of hard work.

But, in the end, he was not swayed by the prospect of personal gain. Clenching his fists, he gritted his teeth and said, ”If big brother goes, I’ll go too.”

Liang Huanzhi chuckled, ”How about it, Ling Feng? Your friend also thinks it’s a good choice. Honestly, the Heavenly Position Academy is nothing special. Our True Dragon Academy has the Royal Family as a pillar; in a few years, we will certainly surpass the Heavenly Position Academy, no question about it.”

A hint of a smile played on Ling Feng’s lips, utterly unmoved. He shook his head gently and said lightly, ”Thank you for the kind offer, Academician Liang, but I’m afraid I must decline.”

(PS: Two points of clarification: first, I have read ”Sword God Emperor” and really like the book. Some of the character setups and plots are borrowed, such as Jiang Xiaofan and Qin Wanwan, which is unmistakable. Second, if you read carefully, you will see that the plot of my story is completely different from ”Sword God Emperor”. Please be aware~)
