Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

Chapter 137: Chapter 136:Killing the monkey to scare the chicken...or whatever the hell they said

”And the winner of the challenge... Apollo Calder..” Valen’s voice was as indifferent as it had been since he started speaking, though his words finally roused the stunned crowd...

”OOOOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!!”

”What the fuck was that?????”

”The sun literally fell, man I was soooooo scared!!!!!”

”Damn! This batch of new students is filled with monsters”..

The gathered outer court students were losing their senses, they’d just witnessed a clash that didn’t look like it belonged to people within the mortal stages, they were fighting like they had a foot through the doors of transformation..

”Man, the two from earlier were already scary enough, now these guys pop up outta nowhere”

”I know like what? The girl was alread crazy enough with that terrible black ice, whatever the hell that was, then you have this guy, pulling the sun down and using it to attack, fucking awesome!!”

The excitement wasn’t only for the outer court students, even the inner court and supreme sanctum attendees seemed genuinely impressed by the showings.

Their minds were already swirling with proposals to effectively win them over to their various factions..

Step...

The sound of a single footstep somehow echoed through the whole place..

Step..

Then again..

Step..

And again..

Continuous footsteps that finally drew the attention of the excited crowd, they looked and their eyes found the source of movement...

It was the white haired, tall and handsome young male that had crashed down from the skies and immediately engaged two demons in combat..

”Where’s he going?” Someone whispered in the audience..

”Is he.... Going to challenge that guy right now?” A confused voice spoke up..

”He..he seemed pretty close to the young lady that got toast earlier, didn’t he?”

”So what? He’s going over there to fight for her honor? This isn’t some wishy washy fantasy where the hero saves the princess” the previously confused voice snickered mockingly..

”Heh.. the fool believes he can earn some points with a stunning woman by acting out, his funeral I guess”.

The students were suddenly excited, ready to delight in the misery of a deluded fool that seemed hellbent on ruining himself in the hopes of charming a woman...

....

”Oh? It’s that young man again” the female instructor that seemed smitten with Dante earlier, chimed in, interrupting the instructors praising of Malcom’s foresight..

”What does he think he’s doing?” The demonic instructor muttered in displeasure..

”Wait, don’t tell me he actually believes he can put up a fight with that Apollo fellow?” Another instructor laughed..

”Humph, I told you, the kid is just arrogant beyond himself, throwing around his weight after confronting a single opponent, I think a proper lesson is indeed needed” the male instructor that seemed hellbent on undermining Dante didn’t miss the opportunity to speak out..

Valen, currently standing at the very front of the instructor’s section with his back turned to them, he heard every single word they’d said, every mockery that spilled out of their mouths in ignorance and he couldn’t suppress the smile that curved up his lips..

”I guess it’s time these ignorant people remember what true monsters look like... go on Dante, show them what faces monsters wear, remind them of just what happens when you poke at a dragon’s reverse scale”...

......

I didn’t have the mind for the jeers of no names swirling around me, the mockery of the insignificants faded into background noise, their taunts falling on deaf ears..

I could feel two intense, murderous gazes trained at me as I made my way towards the stage..

Both of them I recognized, both of them I planned on putting down at this very moment..

But as with everything in life, there were always priorities and as much as I wanted to rip the snake’s head off, I wanted to smash the skull of this one in more badly, so, I continued moving, until finally...

”You should’ve just waited and hid behind your woman like she asked you too” it was the same tone, the same arrogance, the same dismissal.

Apollo, now back to his normal form, unblemished and fully recovered, regarded me with that dismissive look in his eyes.

Yet it felt infinitely worse this time around because the fool actually thought he was worth something, defeating Cara seemed to have inflated his ego, like he’d proved something to himself..

”You have made a lot of mistakes, you have lusted after what was never going to be yours, you have used underhanded means to make her life an uncomfortable cage, all these had already planted nails in your coffin.”

”But none has been as much a final addition as your actions today”

”Today, I will make your end swift and painless and once I meet you on a stage that doesn’t stay my hand, I shall have your life” my words didn’t come angry, they didn’t come out loud, in fact, to my surprise, they came out, cold, unfeeling, very similar to those of my robotic godfather

”Mark my words, filthy worm, for daring to touch that which you shouldn’t have, your life, as of this moment, is forfeit”.

....

There was a beat of silence between us, it seemed he was having trouble understanding just what I’d said to him..

”Was that... a threat?” His eyes narrowed in displeasure.

”I do not do threats, I only speak undeniable truths”I answered plainly.

”Ha..haha...hahahahahahahahaha” his laughter was loud, unrestrained, ANGRY!..

”I see why that filthy whore chose you, I really do, you’re a very funny one, to not only think yourself worthy of facing me, but dare fathom the thoughts of taking my life” he wiped a tear from his eye, ”I don’t know if I should call you courageous or foolish, but regardless, let’s get this farce over with, there are more trash that I need to get through before the day is over” his gaze moved slightly towards the row of elite class students that all had solemn expressions on their faces as they stared at stage, an expression of satisfaction flashed past his eyes, fading as quickly as it appeared before his expression finally returned to his indifferent one as he regarded me coldly..

I didn’t bother taking a fighting stance, I wasn’t here for an exciting, blood pumping fight.

No!

I was here to make a statement, to put an arrogant fool back in his place.

Touch what’s mine and you won’t have enough lives to regret it.

Aeternum was about to find that out and I was going to use the posturing fool before me as the monkey to scare the chickens..

”I challenge Apollo Calder for his status as an elite class student.”

**********

A/N: how long do you think this match will last? Afterall Apollo’s been built up quite powerful, It’d be weird if Dante just pulverized him right?

Right??
