Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

With that thought, Wei’en immediately upgraded his Soul-Devouring Magic, wanting to quickly devour the Deep Sea Giant Beast.

He could already see ships sailing toward him in the distance. They would arrive in an hour at most.

Soul-Devouring Magic Lv. 5 (2/50000)... (50000/50000).

[Soul-Devouring Magic Lv. 5 (50000/50000). Upgrade?]

[Upgrade.]

[Congratulations! Your skill, Soul-Devouring Magic, has been upgraded from Lv. 5 to Lv. 6. Effect: Greatly increases the potency level of the source you can devour and greatly increases the speed of consumption and absorption.]

[Note: To upgrade this skill from Lv. 6 to Lv. 7, you will need not only experience points, but your class must also reach the Great Mage rank.]

Huh?

Wei’en noticed the message on the panel. Sure enough, next to Soul-Devouring Magic, he saw grayed-out text that read: ”Class rank not met.”

He had previously assumed that as long as he had enough survival points, his Magic could be upgraded indefinitely.

It seemed that at the rank of Wizard, he could only upgrade his Magic to level 6 at most.

’Still, a level 6 spell should be more than enough...’

He had the panel to help him rapidly increase his Magic levels, and it had still taken him this long to get one spell to level 6. The difficulty for other Wizards must be even greater.

Besides, with his current base attributes, he figured he could advance to the Great Mage rank soon. It was more practical to focus on finding ways to earn more survival points.

”Adagua!”

The next second, four source-bodies flew out. The composite head rapidly swelled, opening its gaping maw as it pounced on the corpse of the Deep Sea Giant Beast.

KRAK! KRAK!

A sound like scraping metal rang out. The expression on the ghostly head’s enormous face shifted from excitement to shock, and it flew back dejectedly.

”Baba, it’s too hard.”

”We can’t bite through it...”

”I think my teeth are loose.”

”Wooo, Baba, we’re sorry!”

[You have failed to devour the unknown Deep Sea Giant Beast using Soul-Devouring Magic. Evaluation: I told you your level was too low. You didn’t really think one more level would be enough, did you? Special Reward: Survival Points +1, Soul-Devouring Magic EXP +1.]

’It still doesn’t work?’

Wei’en was dumbfounded. Even level 6 Soul-Devouring Magic couldn’t devour the Deep Sea Giant Beast?

’Is... is the potency of its source really that high?’

’Or is there some other reason?’

’So what now...’

He looked at the Deep Sea Giant Beast. Half its body had already been swallowed by the waves. Its dead, ashen eyes stared at him as if in mockery. ’See? I’m already dead, and you still can’t do a thing to me.’

”Tsk!”

Wei’en frowned slightly. He glanced at the approaching ships in the distance, and after a few seconds of thought, an idea came to him.

’If I can’t devour it, I’ll convert it!’

’Undead conversion can’t have a level restriction too, can it?’

SNAP!

Receiving his command, the ghost perked up and flew to the head of the Deep Sea Giant Beast. It began loudly chanting an incantation: ”Bo’ah, Tiogi, Syeji!”

A Rune Array slowly materialized on the surface of the sea. As if sensing the immense size of the Deep Sea Giant Beast, the entire Array began to expand, stopping only when its Rune Patterns and nodes completely covered the creature.

Then, plumes of gray smoke began to rise, slowly engulfing the corpse of the Deep Sea Giant Beast.

CREAK... CREAK...

”A Deep Sea Giant Beast on the verge of reaching the Legendary rank?”

Just then, a cold, sinister voice drifted out from the gray mist.

”Hm?”

Wei’en, who had been awaiting the results of the conversion, froze for a second. The moment he came to his senses, he instantly blinked away to a safe distance.

’There’s someone here during the undead conversion?’

’And someone so terrifying, at that?’

”Hmm, a Wizard?” The owner of the voice sensed Wei’en’s presence, their tone holding a hint of gratification. ”The young ones are still the most capable, unlike those old fools from the Phantoms... they’re becoming bigger bastards by the day...”

”You... who are you?”

Hearing this, Wei’en grew even more guarded. ’He has some connection to the Phantoms?’

”Me?” The voice in the gray mist sighed faintly. ”I am merely an ordinary Doorman in the Undead World.”

”A Doorman?”

”Yes, but pay it no mind. I must thank you for your contribution to the Undead World. As for this... I’ll be taking it with me.”

The voice had barely faded when Wei’en heard a roar erupt from the gray mist, a sound that seemed to claw its way up from the abyss. The immense roar once again churned the surrounding sea.

”ROAR—”

[You have successfully used the Undead Conversion (Death God) spell to create an Undead Creature—the Skeleton Giant Beast. You have obtained the ”Deadpool” status and the random talent ”Plague.” Evaluation: Well, congratulations on adding another powerful commander to your ranks. That is, assuming you can even summon it. Special Reward: Survival Points +100, Resilience +10, Spirit +10.]

’Deadpool?!’

Wei’en’s eyes narrowed as he stared into the center of the dissipating gray mist. A behemoth slowly revealed itself, vaguely retaining the silhouette of the former Deep Sea Giant Beast.

Now, however, its entire body was a skeleton that shimmered with a crystalline light. A massive, oval head was surrounded by writhing, barbed bone tentacles. It had no limbs or facial features, only a gaping, fang-filled mouth and a single, deep, dark eye.

”ROAR—”

The single eye on the Skeleton Giant Beast’s head seemed to gaze deeply at Wei’en before its mouth opened wide to let out another long, drawn-out roar.

The next second, however, it was dragged away by a giant claw formed from the gray mist.

Only the grating sound of its colliding, scraping bones was left to echo in his ears.

After a few moments, the sea gradually calmed. Wei’en let out a long sigh and returned to the *Ronan*. A new mark, a new connection, formed in his mind.

’It’s so clear?’

This time, even after the Skeleton Giant Beast with the ”Deadpool” status had returned to the Undead World, he could still clearly sense its presence.
