Immortal of the Nine Realms

Ji Liang couldn’t help but gasp in shock. Why is Empress Ci calling this man a Day Walker Monarch? Is he really a Day Walker Monarch?

However, Ji Liang couldn’t wrap his head around why a Day Walker Monarch would hide among them and act like an ordinary wanderer of the Underworld.

The blood paper figure’s expression fluctuated as he stared intently at Fang Chen.

The Nascent Soul Realm experts from the Innate Dao Sect and the Morning Star Dao Sect exchanged bewildered glances.

A Day Walker Monarch was a formidable figure on par with an Immortal King in the mortal realm. What was his purpose in doing this?

Fang Chen thought for a moment, then smiled faintly as he stepped forward and cupped his hands. ”Empress Ci, your sharp eyes have pierced through my little tricks. I embarrassed myself…. Greetings, Empress Ci. I am Dongfang Haojie, a Day Walker Monarch of the Nether Guards Division.”

Ji Liang and the others were stunned.

”He really is a Day Walker Monarch?!”

Empress Ci smiled subtly, looking at Fang Chen. ”A Yin Monarch from the Lesser Underworld, daring to come to the Floating Pagoda Realm in person. Aren’t you afraid of never returning?”

”My curiosity brought me here. They say the Floating Pagoda Realm is a land of chaos, so I wanted to come and see for myself. I didn’t expect to meet someone like you, Empress Ci. The Floating Pagoda Realm truly lives up to its reputation,” Fang Chen replied.

”Are you here to see the world, or have you recognized its Yin Soldiers and intend to join them to find the inheritance of Monarch Yan?” Empress Ci asked coldly.

Ji Liang’s expression grew even darker. Why do many people know about this secret?

Empress Ci knew and the Day Walker Monarch from the Nether Guards Division also knew?

He couldn’t help but start doubting the blood paper figure, casting sidelong glances at him.

”Empress Ci, what exactly is Monarch Yan’s inheritance? I have not heard that Monarch Yan, who currently controls the Underworld, has a legacy scattered in the Floating Pagoda Realm,” Fang Chen said.

”Why pretend to be ignorant? Monarch Yan of the Lesser Underworld is nothing. He doesn’t even dare step foot in the Floating Pagoda Realm,” Empress Ci replied indifferently. ”The Floating Pagoda Realm where you are now is the real Underworld, the Greater Underworld, not the so-called Underworld created by a bunch of ants.”

She looked at the blood paper figure. ”I know your Yin Soldier lineage fought to the end against Monarch Yan. You should know where Monarch Yan is buried, right? Take me there, and I will grant you wealth and power.”

The blood paper figure furrowed his brows. He remained silent for a moment before speaking slowly. ”Empress Ci, Monarch Yan’s inheritance can only be obtained by an Immortal Seedling, not by ordinary souls.”

Empress Ci smiled faintly. ”I’ve heard that Monarch Yan of old walked the Underworld in his physical form, and it seems the rumors were true.”

”In that case, why is Empress Ci still fixated on Monarch Yan’s inheritance? Once my family’s heir obtains the legacy and unites the Greater and Lesser Underworlds, how about I grant you wealth and power?” the blood paper figure suggested.

”Unite the Greater and Lesser Underworlds?” Empress Ci suddenly laughed lightly. ”The Floating Pagoda Realm is full of ghosts and gods. There are many who are stronger than me. If you can’t even defeat me, how do you expect to unify the Greater and Lesser Underworlds? That’s nothing but a dream.”

”Everything takes time,” the blood paper figure said solemnly. ”The Greater Underworld has been in chaos for many years. It’s about time someone rises to the occasion and restores order.”

Empress Ci pointed at Ji Liang. ”Are you really relying on him?”

Ji Liang’s expression slightly changed. He could see a hint of disdain and contempt in Empress Ci’s eyes. As the son of the Nine Generation King, with numerous opportunities and inheritances from various Daoist sects, he had never been looked at with such contempt before.

”Empress Ci, you do not understand. The heir’s status in the mortal realm is exalted, and his father is an Immortal King in the mortal world. If the immortal gates had been opened in the past, he would have ascended long ago,” the blood paper figure said in a deep voice. ”If the heir were to obtain Monarch Yan’s inheritance and cultivate in the mortal realm, once his cultivation matures, he could transcend and dominate the ghosts and gods in the Underworld.”

Empress Ci coldly replied, ”What is an Immortal King worth? When the Floating Pagoda Realm was at its peak, even the Immortal Realm had to be wary of it. In certain situations, the Floating Pagoda Realm was even stronger than the Immortal Realm. Though it has declined now, it still houses many powerful figures secluded in various places.”

She sneered. ”You wish to assist this person? You are merely daydreaming, just like you were more than 6,000 ago when you barged into the Lesser Underworld.”

Though Fang Chen remained calm on the outside, his heart was stirred.

In its prime, the Greater Underworld made even the Immortal Realm wary? It was even stronger than the Immortal Realm at times?

If this were true, it would make sense that Pitu would have entered the Underworld after his death.

Now, Fang Chen was almost certain that Pitu, his senior brother from the Reincarnation Immortal Sect, was in the Floating Pagoda Realm. The Floating Pagoda Realm might be home to terrifying existences far stronger than First Rate Sect Leaders.

The blood paper figure fell silent for a moment. In the end, it said, ”Empress Ci, you’ve said so much, but do you have any plans?”

Empress Ci looked at Fang Chen and said, ”This Day Walker Monarch is both a Yin Monarch of the Lesser Underworld and a Yin Walker. He also carries a trace of immortal essence. If he has been acknowledged by an Immortal Sect in the mortal world, I believe it would be a good choice for him to obtain Monarch Yan’s inheritance.”

Ji Liang and the others were instantly stunned.

The blood paper figure also instinctively looked toward Fang Chen, his expression filled with contemplation. However, he slowly shook his head. ”Monarch Yan’s inheritance originates from the Dao Sect. Meeting those two requirements you mentioned isn’t enough. He must also be recognized by the Yin Lunar Divine Beast. The heir has already earned Yin Lunar Divine Beast’s recognition and can perform the Heavenly Abhorrence Technique. Only he can inherit Monarch Yan’s legacy.”

Ji Liang slowly stepped forward, looking at Empress Ci. ”Indeed. Empress Ci, I have long comprehended the Yin Soldier techniques. Once I inherit Monarch Yan’s inheritance, I will be able to command the Yin Soldiers and move freely through the Underworld. Despite how powerful you are in the Underworld, you have no power in the mortal realm. Once I become Monarch Yan, I will not only unify the Greater and Lesser Underworlds, but I will also control the Nine Realms of the Mortal World!”

Fang Chen’s eyes suddenly gleamed with realization. Ah, now I understand….

The blood paper figure, claiming to be from the Underworld, could indeed move freely in the mortal world and wield immense powers. In the Underworld, he seemed as comfortable as a fish in water.

Fang Chen reflected on the situation. When he had returned to Grand Xia, he had only been able to watch and listen. He hadn’t been able to affect anything in the mortal realm. On closer inspection, the black and white paper figures were very similar to Yin Soldiers. Perhaps they had once been sealed and transformed into their current existence.

Empress Ci’s eyes flickered with deep thought as she murmured, ”So, Monarch Yan’s inheritance requires that condition... The Yin Lunar Divine Beast. Yes, only with its approval could one truly become Monarch Yan….”

After a moment, she slowly nodded. ”Tell me your plans. Not only do I have people in the Lesser Underworld, but some of the older folks have also left their marks there. Once they recognize your Yin Soldier identity, they will deduce that you’re here in the Floating Pagoda Realm to seek Monarch Yan’s inheritance. This place won’t be safe for long.”

The group finally understood. They had already been targeted before even arriving in the Floating Pagoda Realm.

Ji Liang suddenly bowed respectfully. ”Empress Ci, this Day Walker Monarch from the Lesser Underworld may not have good intentions. Please suppress him to avoid any accidents from happening.”

Fang Chen sighed softly. ”Brother Ji, are you turning your back on us so quickly?”

Ji Liang’s gaze darkened. ”You’re the one who tricked us first.”

”Since you are a Day Walker Monarch, it would be a waste not to take advantage of the situation. Come with me to the bridal chamber,” Empress Ci said with a half-smile.

Ji Liang couldn’t help but sneer.

The so-called bridal chamber, no doubt, meant something dangerous.

Fang Chen cupped his hands and asked respectfully, ”Empress Ci, if I have gained the Yin Lunar Divine Beast’s recognition and can perform the Heavenly Abhorrence Technique, would Monarch Yan’s inheritance be mine to inherit?”
