The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1651: Chapter 667: Expedition_2

The surroundings were terrifyingly quiet, only the light footsteps and breathing of two people echoed in the corridor.

Miss Di didn’t know where this place was, but the originally bright lights had dimmed to just a few emergency lights spaced ten meters apart, shrouding the corridor in dense darkness where only vague outlines were visible.

Miss Di started to feel a bit scared, and she couldn’t help but get closer to Zhou Wang, clutching onto his arm tightly.

Yet her heartbeat involuntarily quickened, in this never-experienced environment, beyond fear, a sense of curiosity and excitement began to grow.

”I’ll tell you, there’s a secret hidden in this manor.”

At this moment, Zhou Wang, who had been silent all the way, finally spoke.

Although his voice was light, it still clearly transmitted throughout the quiet corridor.

”Wha... what secret?”

Miss Di cautiously surveyed the surroundings while hugging tighter.

Miss Di’s secret is no small thing too, at least a B... well, it should fit perfectly...

Zhou Wang felt a little distracted, but his expression remained serious, ”When I took over the manor, the previous owner told me that I could remodel the manor however I wanted, but there was one place I mustn’t touch, and if possible, shouldn’t even approach.”

”Huh?”

Miss Di’s lips trembled, but couldn’t restrain her curiosity, ”Then, what place is that?”

”The attic.”

Zhou Wang stopped at this point.

”The attic?” Miss Di wondered aloud, ”Isn’t that a very ordinary place? Most buildings like this have it, so why did the previous owner warn you not to go near it?”

”I don’t know, she didn’t say... but after I moved in, I had my assistant look up some information and found out something she never told me.”

This time, before Miss Di could ask, Zhou Wang spoke gravely, ”Two years ago, there was a bizarre disappearance case in this manor...”

”A disappearance case?”

”Yes, a foreign maid named Alice mysteriously disappeared inside the manor, and everyone around her didn’t know where she went. After the police investigated fruitlessly, they sealed the case file, and to this day, her whereabouts remain unknown.”

Zhou Wang spoke quietly, ”But Korea is such a small place, it’s been two years, if Alice were still alive, how could there be no trace at all?”

”So she’s, she’s already...”

”I’m not sure.”

Zhou Wang shook his head, ”But out of suspicion, I had my assistant dig deeper, and then I discovered... something even more terrifying.”

”Wha, what?”

Miss Di’s voice trembled, yet she couldn’t stop herself from asking.

”That maid named Alice wasn’t the first to disappear in this manor.”

As Zhou Wang narrated, he seemed a bit frightened too, his voice not flowing smoothly, ”In the last twenty years, this manor had at least six disappearances, all were servants or maids... and after careful study, I found they all had one common point.”

”So, what common point did you discover?”

Hearing that so many disappearances happened in the manor, Miss Di’s face turned pale, but she subconsciously thought Zhou Wang was just making up a story, so although scared, she reluctantly maintained her composure, intrigued enough to want to hear the story to the end.

”Those disappeared maids all cleaned the same area, which the previous owner warned me not to approach.”

”The attic?”

Miss Di first repeated, then seemed to remember something and her hair stood on end, ”Ugh, Zhou Wang, you jerk... why did you stop here and talk about all this nonsense?”

”Because...”

At that moment, Zhou Wang took out his cell phone and turned on the flashlight function, illuminating a staircase slanting upwards about half a meter ahead, at the end of which was a black metal door.

”Right ahead is the attic.”

...

Right ahead is the attic?

The attic where many might have disappeared?

Hearing Zhou Wang’s eerie voice, Miss Di momentarily froze, her gaze following the light to the closed black door.

The corridor promptly quieted down, one second, two seconds...

Who knows how much time passed before Miss Di finally came to her senses, her beautiful face twisted with fear, lips parted to emit a piercing scream.

Luckily, Zhou Wang anticipated her reaction, covering her mouth with his hand, and the violently trembling Miss Di could only let out helpless ”mmm” sounds.

Seeing Miss Di, her flower-like face pale, tears in her eyes, almost losing the strength to stand, seemingly about to perish on the spot, Zhou Wang decided he’d had enough fun, quickly pulling her into his arms and soothing her:

”Alright, alright, I was just joking, those so-called disappearance cases are all made up by me, I never spoke with the previous owner... come, take a deep breath, calm down.”

With Zhou Wang’s continued reassurance, Miss Di’s struggles finally started to subside.

After a while, she finally managed to stand with difficulty, now tearfully looking at Zhou Wang, ”Really, truly all fake?”

Zhou Wang hadn’t expected that the usually confident-looking Miss Di was actually so timid, watching her look like a delicate little flower, Zhou Wang felt inexplicably touched and nodded softly:

”Of course it’s true, if it’s an adventure, there must be a story background... ahem, I just didn’t expect you to be so frightened, originally I planned to wait until we got to the attic before confessing.”

”You’re so bad!”

Miss Di angrily struck Zhou Wang, though her face was much better now.

Then she broke into laughter, ”But still, thank you, Zhou Wang, although it wasn’t a real haunted house adventure, you did really scare me just now... this experience is very special to me, I guess I’ll remember it for a lifetime.”

Saying so, Miss Di glanced at the attic door again, showing signs of lingering fear.

”Don’t you want to go in and look?”

But Zhou Wang suddenly spoke.

”Go in?”

Miss Di’s eyes widened again.

”Yeah, since we’re at the door, don’t you want to make this adventure more complete?”

Zhou Wang smiled, ”Besides, since the stories are fake, going in to take a look shouldn’t hurt, I haven’t been to the attic either, this is the highest point of the manor, the view is probably great.”

”This...”

Miss Di clearly hesitated, showing a mix of fear and longing.

Zhou Wang saw her hesitation and simply grabbed her hand again, without saying anything, heading up the stairs.

Miss Di quickly hugged Zhou Wang’s arm tightly once more.

With Miss Di in tow, ”thump thump” up the stairs, Zhou Wang twisted the doorknob and the attic door opened inward with a rusty grinding sound, revealing a dark space piled with clutter.

The attic seemed around seventy to eighty square meters at first glance, with a circular window high up, the outside light shining through it, illuminating parts of it, but most areas remained dark.

Zhou Wang didn’t find a switch by the wall, thought for a moment, and for better ambiance, he decided to leave it, just holding the phone and guiding Miss Di inside bit by bit.

Despite Zhou Wang having said the ”story” was fake, in this environment, she was still extremely tense, even keeping her eyes mostly shut, leaving just a slit open to monitor the surroundings.

”Huh?”

”Zhou Wang, wh-wh-what’s wrong?”

Miss Di’s heart tightened.

”It looks like someone really lives here... who the hell set up a bed here?”

Zhou Wang, somewhat dumbstruck, spoke.

”A bed?”

Miss Di opened her eyes in shock, indeed seeing a circular large bed in the area illuminated by the window light, complete with bedding.

”Holy shit, what is that?”

At this moment, Zhou Wang was clearly startled again, pointing towards another area, his voice seemed a bit off-key.

Following his voice, Miss Di looked and could clearly see on the wall opposite the bed, in the dimly reflected light, there were many things suspended.

Miss Di saw handcuffs, whips, a wooden horse, and more terrifyingly sinister items, in the shadows only barely revealing their shapes as ”implements”...

”Ah!”

The heart-wrenching scream Miss Di had stifled from before, finally burst out.
