The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 428: Chapter 198 ”Embarked on a Career”_3

Wuyou Media’s recent example from 2023 showed revenues surpassing 1.2 billion, with a net profit of about 430 million. Of course, this scale was not comparable to many industries, but in the MCN domain, it was undoubtedly a behemoth...

”Mr. Zhou, because you signed a transfer agreement with the original shareholders, you can participate in the 2023 dividends. This money will be deposited into Wangzhou Culture’s account before October...”

”What, I can receive the 2023 dividends?”

Zhou Wang was taken aback by what he heard.

After all, the system acquired the shares in July 2024, and he was about to receive money from 2023; wasn’t this too far-fetched?

Zhang Shihao also seemed puzzled, thinking, were you not aware of the shares you acquired yourself?

Zhou Wang realized that he might have come across as a bit clueless, but he quickly maintained his composure and explained, ”The acquisition was completely handled by the law firm on my behalf. Um, since I bought shares in a few companies simultaneously, my memory got a bit muddled...”

It sounded implausible, but Zhang Shihao was instantly filled with admiration. Why?

Because, as far as Zhang Shihao knew, Zhou Wang had just completed the acquisition of 22.6% of BSK shares today...

As everyone knew, no matter how powerful the capital, detailed due diligence was always done before deciding to acquire a company’s equity, which was bound to be a long and tedious process.

Zhou Wang was certainly not just acting on a whim when acquiring shares of Wuyou Media and BSK. He must have been planning for a long time to capture both companies’ shares at once.

Conducting acquisitions of multiple companies simultaneously over such a long period, and not doing it personally, if he got a mix-up, wouldn’t that be normal?

After some deduction, Zhang Shihao spontaneously accepted Zhou Wang’s explanation. Enlightened, he gave Zhou Wang a thumbs-up and began to explain kindly.

”Here’s the situation...”

Comparing the backup of the contract stored in the system and Zhang Shihao’s explanations, Zhou Wang finally understood.

Because it was not a listed company, Wuyou Media could decide its own dividend distribution schedule. According to the company’s articles, the time for shareholder dividends was before October of the following fiscal year...

Very flexible.

It was a decision set to ensure the company always had sufficient cash flow, and it had the support of all shareholders.

And when it came to equity transfers, there were two scenarios. If an original shareholder wanted to retain the previous dividend rights, Zhou Wang’s offer would be lower. However, the contract Zhou Wang signed with the original shareholders through Yunshangyun followed the second scenario...

That was when the original shareholders did not retain the previous year’s dividend rights, and the system had already paid the acquisition price according to the previous average earnings premium. Therefore, the 2023 dividend rights were transferred to Zhou Wang...

How generous of the system!

Understanding the whole situation, Zhou Wang couldn’t help but secretly praise the system.

With a net profit of 430 million, based on the equity ratio, Zhou Wang could practically get 43 million...

This was his ”salary” for more than a year!

As long as Wuyou Media didn’t go bankrupt and those shares remained in his hands, Zhou Wang would enjoy today, year after year...

Nice!

Not showing his excitement, Zhou Wang continued to read other documents.

Over half an hour later, Zhou Wang had skimmed through the files at hand. Of course, he didn’t finish all of them... but he gained another perspective on Wuyou Media.

In the paper shareholders’ list of Wuyou Media, Zhou Wang ranked third, Zhang Shihao was second, and the first was the Zhang Group behind him.

Although he didn’t know how many other components were involved, one thing was certain: currently, Zhang Shihao indeed had absolute control over Wuyou Media.

”Mr. Zhou, if you’ve finished reading, what we have to discuss next is your job position.”

Seeing Zhou Wang put down the last report, Zhang Shihao opened his mouth, following the trend.

”Mr. Zhang, go ahead.”

”I can first tell you about the current situation of Wuyou: The company temporarily has no board of directors, and no other shareholders hold positions in the company, excluding the artists who received equity incentives. So now, in terms of management, you can consider it as my one-man show.”

Zhang Shihao candidly stated this, then smiled and continued, ”If Mr. Zhou is willing, you could take the position of deputy general manager at Wuyou Media, and continue to make Wuyou bigger and stronger with me...”

After hearing this, Zhou Wang didn’t think much of it, but the bodyguard Biaozi was a bit astonished and couldn’t help but glance at Zhang Shihao.

Zhou Wang was unaware, but Biaozi was clear.

Zhang Shihao never wanted other shareholders to meddle in the company’s operations. He had explicitly told other shareholders at the company’s inception: Forget about the board of directors, don’t come around bossing me around, whoever bothers will be kicked out...

Of course, he didn’t say it like that, but the meaning conveyed was similar.

However, now, Zhang Shihao voluntarily invited Zhou Wang to join Wuyou Media as a deputy general manager...

Biaozi realized that he might have underestimated Zhou Wang’s status in Zhang Shihao’s mind.

Biaozi didn’t know that this was still due to the impact of BSK shares quickly acquired by Zhou Wang...

If it weren’t for that matter, Zhang Shihao indeed wouldn’t have made such a proposal—

Heck, at the time, he had to exert a lot of effort to barely get a tiny share of BSK, just managing to get on the express train of Magic City’s store. Zhou Wang, once he made a move, took away the shares of BSK that had already entered a stable profit phase, truly astounding Zhang Shihao.

His proposal at this moment was something he came up with around noon.

Otherwise, even with the relationship with Young Master Zhang, it would be impossible for Zhang Shihao to show such sincerity toward Zhou Wang...

”As for the deputy general manager position, I think I might find it hard to take on right now...”

Zhou Wang didn’t hide anything and said quite frankly.

He was aware of his limitations; theoretical knowledge, no matter how comprehensive, was still just theory. When it came to practice, one shouldn’t start at such a high point...

Falling from that height would be painful.

A trace of appreciation flickered in Zhang Shihao’s eyes, but he didn’t persist. After a brief pause, he suggested, ”I wonder... if you have an interest in the position of a supervisor?”

”Supervisor?”

Zhou Wang’s eyes brightened, ”But doesn’t the company currently have a supervisor?”

Usually, supervisors and directors were positions held by company shareholders, and with Wuyou’s scale, according to legal requirements, a supervisory position was necessary, so Zhou Wang asked this.

”He can step down anytime.”

Zhang Shihao stated bluntly.

Zhou Wang immediately understood that this supervisor, theoretically overseeing the company’s operations, was one of Zhang Shihao’s people...

”Then I think I can give it a try.”

Zhou Wang did not hesitate for long, quickly made his decision, and nodded with a smile.

The supervisor position was indeed the most suitable for his current situation. It allowed him freedom from Zhang Shihao’s control, while directly overseeing the company’s operations and management. During this process, he would familiarize himself with all the company’s business procedures.

If Zhou Wang really demanded it, Zhang Shihao would even need to report the company’s operational status to him anytime...

In short, it was a position with variable importance that could play a significant role at crucial times.

Forget about being deputy general manager; it could be marginalized. But for Zhang Shihao to propose making him a supervisor...

At that moment, Zhou Wang confirmed that Zhang Shihao genuinely approached him with sincerity, not employing some old business trick.

Just as Zhou Wang nodded in agreement, the system’s prompt sounded on cue.
