STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer

City A-10th Zone:

Shadow Moon Organisation:

”The Sun Wheel Organisation has a mysterious backer. So we didn’t break off bridges with them. But there are secret conflicts and fights with them in the wilderness,” Gisela said in a serious tone.

”That’s why the head of the organisation was serious with you,” she added.

Hearing that, Jeremy nodded to her. He had decided to learn more about the Sun Wheel Organisation. She then brought him to his room.

”I’m going now. If you want anything, you can contact someone in the office on the first floor. And I’ll send someone to give you the joining kits, including the uniform.” After saying that, Gisela left.

Jeremy said, ”Okay.”

Then he closed the door before starting to look at his new room. The new room was wide and spacious. There was a small space for a living area.

As Jeremy went around his room, he was stunned to find a personal study room and practice chamber. Upon seeing the practice chamber, he suddenly thought of something.

He focused on his mental zone. Then he found out that the unknown beast egg was actually absorbing the natural energy from the surroundings.

He hadn’t even realized it so far. When did this happen? Then he recalled entering the city. It must have happened then.

He noticed that the quality of natural energy was purer and denser here. Because of all the tension, he forgot to notice the natural energy in this place.

It was stronger and purer than the natural energy in the 10th zone. It was an added bonus here. Jeremy’s heart eased further.

He thought staying here would increase his progress.

He had a feeling that he would soon reach the 2nd Rank. Then he collected his thoughts before looking around the room.

He then walked inside and found that the practice room was wide and spacious. Its walls were built with special metals. It could withstand his various attacks.

Then he walked out and headed toward the bedroom to check. The bedroom was fine. It had a king-sized bed. He could sleep comfortably here.

A few minutes later,

Knock!

Someone knocked on the door. Jeremy then went to open it. He saw a middle-aged woman in office attire.

The woman said, ”My name is Elina. I’m one of the office staff here. 10th Team Leader Gisela told me to give you this.”

After saying that, she took out a silver storage ring with a moon insignia on it.

”Everything you need is inside the storage ring. There is also a small help book that can brief you about the organisation and its working structure,” Elina said.

”Thank you.” After saying that, Jeremy accepted the silver ring and wore it on his right ring finger.

Elina nodded before saying, ”I’m leaving.”

Jeremy then closed the door and returned to his bed. He concentrated on the new silver storage ring.

Then he brought out a few items and placed them on the bed.

There were four sets of uniforms. Two sets were white with a half moon insignia. Then there were two sets of black uniforms with a full moon insignia.

Suddenly, Jeremy’s eyes flickered with understanding.

”Don’t tell me there are uniforms for day and night missions,” Jeremy thought to himself.

Then his gaze fell on the black compact device. He knew he could use it to connect with the online services here.

Next, his eyes landed on the small help book, where he could learn about the organisation. He picked up the handbook to read it.

Meanwhile,

A new rumor started to spread in the office: that the 10th team got a new member. It’s not easy to join any organisation these days.

Every organisation accepts the top talent. They prioritize the top talent first. Elina didn’t keep her mouth shut.

On the other hand, people who arranged the kits knew there was an additional member. But they were curious. They didn’t know who had joined the team.

How strong is the new team member? Only Elina knew about the news, as she was the one who personally delivered the kits to the new member.

Elina was already talkative. Now that people were asking her, she revealed the news.

”Tell us, who is he?”

”Where is he from?”

”How strong is he?”

”What’s his Lifeline beast?”

One after another, a barrage of questions assaulted Elina.

She revealed a helpless smile before replying, ”He is a young kid, similar to a high schooler.”

Gasp!

The people around her took a sharp breath.

Because high schoolers normally graduate from academies before formally joining any organisation.

But here they had accepted a high schooler.

”Don’t tell me he is a dropout?”

”Maybe she saw the son of a new team member.”

”Could she have mistaken him for someone else?”

People nearby came up with some theories.

Elina said, ”No.”

Hearing that, five people around her quieted down.

No one said anything the next second.

”It’s the kid. I forgot to ask his name. But we can check the database. Since Team Leader Gisela said so, there must be information about him,” Elina said.

”Good idea. Why didn’t I think of it?” one of the female staff said.

The female staff started to search for the new member’s information in the database.

[Confidential!]

Seeing that the information was confidential, the faces of the female staff and the people behind her changed drastically.

”I didn’t see anything.” After saying that, one of them slipped away.

Seeing that, others left with regret and unwillingness as well. In the blink of an eye, everyone was gone except Elina.

”I guess only the Head of the organisation can do something like that,” Elina said.

The female staff nodded to her.

Elina sighed inwardly. They thought it was just a normal new member. But she didn’t expect it to be a big fish that had caught the eyes of the Head.

She thought Team Leader Gisela knew about this. That’s why she was confident about revealing his identity.

Elina had a feeling that the upcoming days wouldn’t be peaceful. The news would soon reach the ears of others. It would attract unwanted attention toward them.

A few hours later,

Not long after his meeting with Jeremy Night, the Head of the Organisation, Neil Moon, released a public statement saying that they have specially recruited a new member into their 10th team.

He only released the name of the new member; the other information he kept confidential. Not even the office staff can view it without permission.

Because Jeremy Night had mentioned in his contract the sensitivity of the lifeline beasts, he made Jeremy’s lifeline beast information secret.

When the official statement was released on the site, it didn’t take long for everyone to notice it. The first ones to get notifications were the members of the Shadow Moon Organisation.

They would receive any message from top management to their contacts. If it was a message from the Head of the Organisation, it would come as an important message.

First, the Elders, the active members, the unofficial members, retired members, and the working staff in the office all received it.

When they received the message, everyone’s doubts were cleared. Elina and her friends especially sighed in relief. As they had expected, the newcomer was indeed a high schooler.

Now they knew who the high schooler was, since his name was disclosed in the statement. They knew recent shocking news was taking all the top zones by storm.

It was the news of a new talent who had fought against and slain the Tier-4 Corrupted Beasts successfully.

His name was Jeremy Night. The people in the office were jolted awake when the realization dawned on them. Their Organisation had recruited not just an ordinary talent, but a talent comparable to the S-Grade.

In some top zones, there was a discussion that even S-Graders can’t achieve records like this. This has caused uneasiness among the S-Graders.

Especially those who had attack-type talents. They felt it necessary to make a point, mainly those who are the same age as Jeremy Night.

Now that Neil Moon has released the news, it didn’t take long for it to spread outside as well. The major organisations in the 10th zone received the news first.

Then the news spread to the remaining top 9 zones. There were forces willing to invest in Jeremy Night when his achievements were known.

But this sudden news caused them to dispel their ideas. The Shadow Moon Organisation had gone ahead of them and successfully recruited Jeremy Night into their organisation.

Many of them were puzzled. Through connections, it didn’t take long for the intel to leak. Neil Moon himself was sharing news with the connections.

Soon others came to know that Neil Moon had recruited the talent long ago, especially during the Genius List meeting.

After learning that, other forces felt short-sighted; they had dug deeper before recruiting all the S-Graders and A-Graders into their organisation.

But they had missed Jeremy Night somehow. However, those who had attended the meeting knew it was not their fault. Jeremy Night’s profile information was incomplete to begin with.

So they didn’t take any risks. This has caused the higher-ups of the organisation to sigh.
