STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer

After spending time in the library, Jeremy left the place. He was able to learn some useful information, such as the resource points in the wilderness outside City A. The resource points include rare herbs, fruits, and plants.

They can normally be found in the wilderness. If he can collect them, he will be able to earn good money. With the money, Jeremy wants to buy resources to further strengthen his physique.

Right now, he still doesn’t have fighting methods. He had asked Instructor Jacob for the blade style arts, but he had yet to receive them.

In this situation, he can only look for other ways to improve himself. He has already got an inner healing method as a breathing method, which would help him protect his body.

But if he can get additional resources to strengthen himself, it would add an extra layer of protection. After gaining this clarity, he started walking towards the Task Hall.

This time he is going to look for a mission that would take at least a day or two to complete.

From the previous mission, he was able to gather information from the Border Patrol Beast Tamers that there are Mercenary Teams that hire university students.

But he doubts they would take a first-year student into the team, so he is going to see whether there are any Mercenary Teams at the university.

Shortly afterward,

Jeremy arrived in front of the huge building where the tasks are handled. As usual, the Task Hall had people coming and going. He then walked into the building and went towards the screen to browse various tasks.

The staff behind the desk took a glance before minding her own business. It didn’t take much time for Jeremy Night to find the details.

But the results disappointed him. There were indeed Mercenary Teams from the university. Even various tasks were posted for first-years as well.

But for first-years, the Mercenary Teams should have members of five people no less than that. Jeremy left disappointed.

His worst fear came true. That’s why he was so enthusiastic to learn about the Strike Department’s new members. Because without new members, you won’t be able to use many perks.

If he really wanted to go alone, then he might require permission from the Dean directly, or he could consider joining a team of other department Mercenary Teams.

Jeremy sighed inwardly. He knew one or two people from the Medicine Department—that’s all. It’s impossible to form a team with them, especially when it’s his first outing. He lacks real wilderness experience here.

After standing there blank for a couple of seconds, he realized it’s difficult to go out again for the mission. Unless he chooses a solo mission specifically, that type of mission usually takes more days to complete.

Then he nodded to the staff sitting behind the desk before leaving. Right now, all he can do is wait for an opportunity.

Meanwhile,

Some people recognized Jeremy Night.

About ten minutes later,

After returning to the dorm room, he closed the door before going to take a bath. Then he walked out about twenty minutes later.

He changed into comfortable clothes before sitting on the sofa. Then he closed his eyes and started paying attention to the mental zone.

He saw the huge gate with concentric circles. Then he turned towards the platform inside the mental zone. The unknown beast egg was slowly absorbing the natural energy from the surroundings.

Observing this scene, his restless mind calmed down. He started to realize he had been edgy. The situation in the Striker Department gave him some stress.

Instead of giving too much importance to that thought, he should focus on himself. He had ultimately come here to improve himself.

His goal was to travel to other big zones after graduation. So instead of rushing things, he thinks let’s see how the other things turn out first.

Meanwhile,

It didn’t take long for word to spread. The rest of the department came to know about it. Even if not all of them, some people were interested in Jeremy Night’s news.

Jeremy Night was not only a strong Beast Tamer but also the Department Representative. There are online groups created by the first-years to share news about the Department Representatives.

Compared to other departments, Jeremy Night didn’t have much support because he was the only one in his department. The other department Beast Tamers only shared news about him.

But the Attack Department Beast Tamers learned of this soon. Some of them had tasks given by second-years, so they quickly shared the news with them.

On the other hand, the second-years from the Attack Department were looking for ways to lure out Jeremy Night. This news came at just the right opportunity for them.

So they instructed the first-years to see what Jeremy Night was up to.

The following day,

Jeremy Night didn’t even go to the Department Building. Instead, he went to the Training Grounds, where Instructor Ariel Burt was in charge.

When he arrived at the place, Instructor Ariel Burt looked at him in surprise. Rarely do people come here to train; most choose the wilderness.

But the Training Grounds are immensely useful for other departments like Medicine, Machinery, and the Special Department.

”What are you doing here?” she asked.

Jeremy replied, ”I have come to fight against the Corrupted Beasts.”

Ariel’s eyes flashed with surprise.

”I heard you had gone for a mission recently. So now are you going to do a mission again?” Ariel asked. Most of the instructors knew what the Department Representatives of each department were doing.

Jeremy Night had been absent for seven days straight, so it was easy for people to figure it out.

”Yes, I’m thinking about creating a Mercenary Team. But the Department Recruitment is still ongoing. Until then, I have decided to sharpen my skills,” he said to her.

”Department Recruitment,” Ariel uttered.

She knew about it because Dean Carolyn was the one overseeing the recruitment.
