When a Blade of Grass Wants to Become Immortal

Chapter 131: Chapter 130: The Apocalyptic Big Shot Arrives 7

Using her Divine Sense, Ji Xiaosong saw Gu Lin outside her door. To her surprise, he was now a Fourth Rank with a Full Element Superpower.

’As expected of the father chosen by the Medicine God himself. He really is powerful.’

Most people only reached the Third Rank after Body Refining, yet after he completed it and gained a superpower, he had somehow become a Fourth Rank with a Full Element Superpower.

Ji Xiaosong opened the door and stepped aside, inviting Gu Lin in.

”Mr. Gu, what brings you here?”

Gu Lin gave a military salute before speaking. ”Miss Ji, thank you. Everyone who underwent Body Refining has awakened a superpower, myself included. Words can’t express my gratitude. If there’s ever anything you need from me in the future, you have only to ask!”

”There’s no need for thanks. You shoulder the heavy responsibility of protecting the country and its people. Only by being strong yourselves can you secure a stable future for everyone. I’m honored that I could help. By the way, has anyone outside been infected with the zombie virus?”

Although she knew everyone had done their best to avoid the acid rain, accidents could always happen, and Ji Xiaosong couldn’t help but worry.

”Actually, yes. Some zombies have appeared without any warning. The strange thing is, the people who turned weren’t exposed to the acid rain. We’ve had a few cases like that in our base, but not too many. For now, we’ve gathered all of them and confined them to a specific area. They don’t pose a threat to the base at the moment, but we’ll have to monitor them closely for any other abnormalities.”

”What are your plans now?”

”We’re going to tally up survivors across the country as quickly as possible and bring them to the base for now. We’ll also be expanding the base to accommodate the current number of survivors. As the Vice Base Chief of Yongfeng Base, Miss Ji, you are requested to come to the conference room for a meeting to discuss these matters.”

Ji Xiaosong followed Gu Lin through three alloy doors that required iris scans, her fingertips brushing against the wall as if by chance.

Her Wood Ability seeped through the metal conduits, instantly mapping out the entire base’s three-dimensional structure in her mind.

As the two of them opened the conference room door, Ji Xiaosong saw a holographic screen playing footage of rioting zombies. Twelve pairs of eyes immediately shot toward her.

”Greetings, everyone. This is Vice Base Chief, Miss Ji Xiaosong.”

Gu Lin gave a military salute to those present and announced formally, ”Vice Base Chief Ji currently possesses a Tenth Rank Wood Ability and a Seventh Rank Ice Ability.”

The middle-aged man in the head seat stood up and introduced himself. ”Miss Ji, I am Gu Changqing, the Chief of Yongfeng Base. I apologize that we haven’t had a chance to meet. Everyone has been incredibly busy with emergency preparations for the apocalypse. Now, the end of the world has arrived just as you predicted. Thankfully, because of your warning, Country H was able to prepare in advance and avert a much greater disaster. You’ve done us a great service! I’ve asked you here today mainly to discuss the future direction of Yongfeng Base’s construction.”

Ji Xiaosong gave a slight nod and walked with a steady gait to the empty seat to Gu Changqing’s left, then sat down.

Then, she retrieved a pre-prepared plan from her storage space. With a powerful wave of her arm, she sent a stack of documents flying in graceful arcs through the air, landing precisely in front of everyone present.

Everyone was stunned for a moment before reaching out to pick up the proposal. A soft rustling of paper filled the conference room as all eyes were drawn to the documents, eager to see what they contained.

”I have designed a comprehensive operational framework for Yongfeng Base. It includes a currency system, a four-dimensional contribution assessment system, a Three-level Space Authority System, a Dynamic Resource Management System, and other specialized subsystems.”

Seeing that everyone had briefly scanned the contents, Ji Xiaosong continued, ”Please take a look. This is the dual-track currency system I designed, which I call the ’Red and Blue Coin’ system. The Red Crystal Coin will serve as the basic survival currency. Each coin corresponds to a 50-gram standard compressed nutrient block, guaranteeing a basic calorie intake.”

”They will be distributed as a basic ration for all citizens: two coins per day for adults and one for children. They will be used mainly to exchange for essential living supplies like water, food, and basic medicine. The Blue Star Coin, on the other hand, is a contribution-based credit currency. It’s obtained by converting contribution points, with one contribution point equaling 100 Blue Star Coins.”

”It can be used to exchange for privileged goods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, tobacco, and alcohol. It can also be used for service upgrades like a private bathroom, weapon modifications, and rental of exploration gear for trips outside the base.”

After listening, Gu Changqing said in agreement, ”This currency system is excellent. On one hand, it guarantees everyone’s basic survival needs, ensuring they have food to eat and water to drink so they don’t fall into despair at the very beginning of this apocalypse. On the other hand, the introduction of the Blue Star Coin incentivizes people to contribute more to the base and obtain better resources and services through their own efforts.”

A middle-aged woman with glasses also agreed. ”Miss Ji, I am Wu Li, the Minister of Finance. Your dual-track currency system is very forward-thinking, and you have my full cooperation. I will arrange for a team to calculate the total issuance to ensure a reasonable money supply. We will also establish exchange procedures and oversight mechanisms to guarantee transparent transactions. For the conversion of contribution points to Blue Star Coins, we will coordinate with the relevant departments to create a strict review process, ensuring fairness and helping the system run smoothly.”

Ji Xiaosong nodded and continued, ”Everyone, next I’ll explain the four-dimensional contribution assessment system. Labor contribution will account for 40%. It will be based on job-type coefficients, for example, 1.2 for construction and 1.5 for medical care, with floating bonuses for dangerous or night-shift work.”

”Material contribution will account for 30%, calculated according to a dynamic value chart updated weekly. Early contributors will also be retroactively compensated. Skill contribution will make up 20%. Special tags can be obtained through skill tree certifications, and there will be rewards for knowledge sharing.”

”Combat contribution will be 10%, calculated based on the value of materials brought back and the level of mutated creatures killed. Fifty percent of a martyr’s contribution value can be passed on to a designated heir. This system provides a comprehensive assessment of everyone’s contribution to the base.”

Gu Changqing frowned. ”These calculation methods are all very good, but we don’t currently have a department to handle them. In that case, we should establish a Contribution Assessment and Resource Allocation Management Center.”

He glanced around the room. Several people had expectant looks on their faces.

But Gu Changqing ignored them and looked at Ji Xiaosong instead.

”Miss Ji, do you have someone in mind?”

Ji Xiaosong understood his meaning. He wanted her to control this important position.

She thought of her parents. They had built their fortune from scratch to become the wealthiest people in Chenming City. Managing a department like this should be easy for them.

”My mother, Ms. Song Ya, was the chairman of Chaohui Group. I believe she would be more than capable of managing this department.”

The moment she finished speaking, a cold snort came from a corner of the conference room.

A tall, stern-faced, middle-aged man shot to his feet. He slammed his hands on the table and stared directly at Ji Xiaosong, his eyes filled with resentment and defiance.

”Hmph. We’re supposed to decide the head of such a crucial department based on her word alone? Ms. Song may have had some business sense, but this is the apocalypse. It remains to be seen what she’s truly capable of.”

The man’s tone was laced with ridicule. ”I am Wang Meng, a special-grade commander in the military. I have extensive experience in personnel management and resource allocation. I believe I am the most suitable candidate to lead this Contribution Assessment and Resource Allocation Management Center.”
