Retired: Nice Guy. HAREM SYSTEM UNLOCKED

Chapter 2: 2. The Weeping Crescent Cross.

”Before I find one, I should check what other things the system has to offer.”

Then someone burst through my door, the sound of wood breaking showing they didn’t care one bit about the door and are very powerful.

I turned around and HOLY KNOCKERS.

She is tall, her long silver-white hair is tied in a braid, her pale eyes are narrowed in a way that gives her a severe, almost judge-like appearance, and she wears a diadem of gold.

The woman is dressed in a black bodysuit with intricate details of gold thread in the shape of crosses. It is paired with wide white sleeves and a white mantle that flows over her shoulders, and she carries a tall spear in her hands, which makes her look regal and severe.

The woman is holding a tall weapon with a narrow shaft and a decorated blade on top that tapers to a point and flares out at the end, almost resembling a feather or a wing.

And one more thing: she is angry.

”Ohh, so you’re alive? What a disappointment!?”

ᕙ Lilathea’s Blade Harem System! ᕗ

⟨ MILF ALERT! ⟩

⟨ Name: Seraphine. ⟩

⟨ Race: Half human, half valkyrie. ⟩

⟨ Age: 36, single. ⟩

⟨ Rank: Y. ⟩

⟨ Compatibility rate: 43. ⟩

⟨ Seraphine Vale is Combat trainer at The Greyclock Conservatory. The Silver Judge. She is quite known throughout the world, but due to her anger issues and a tongue as bitter as bitter gourd, she is working as a normal combat trainer. ⟩

⟨ Not recommended for a fresh start. ⟩

I really hoped I could punch the panel, but in front of me was a half-valkyrie, currently quite upset to see a sign of life in me. And it looked like she would take it out on me.

But wait.

This is my second chance at life. I don’t want to be the same old me. She burst in here and questions why I am alive?

Yeah, she just wants to pick a fight. And I’m going to give her one.

”Should I not be alive then? You got no manners. Coming in without permission–”

”Huh? Phunk. How dare you talk to me that way?”

Ahm, so I’m fried. She grabbed me by the collar so hard it ripped halfway through. Still, she managed to lift me up to meet her face.

I swear to God I wasn’t looking at her massive... chest.

They are the same as Remmy’s, but they have a mature scent and shape to them.

”Can’t meet my eyes, phunk. I don’t see your tongue moving now.”

That rough and raw, power-filled tone of hers was making me question my decision, but it was worth it.

”Put him down, Silver. He may be the low-ranking royal, but he is a student at The Greyclock Conservatory.”

I looked to the side. And there was another woman, a nun.

She stands in profile, draped almost completely in black, wearing a long and puffy dress with fringed edges and richly decorated silver thread running down the front, resembling some kind of ancient script.

A stiff collar, reminiscent of priestly garments, covers her throat, and a heavy cowl-hood drapes over her shoulders, revealing a blunt fringe of pale bangs hanging low enough to cover her eyes, save for a few neatly kept strands of hair framing her composed mouth. Set in her hood is a circlet of thorns, worn more as an antiquated accessory, but giving her an air of piety most fitting for the occasion.

In one hand she carries a slender chain ending in a small, dark pendant, her grip so loose it looks as if she were dangling it in thought, or as a distraction, perhaps, from the more important matter at hand.

Her other hand, meanwhile, rests near her waist on the edge of the wide sash of runes and markings wrapped around her skirt, a set of inscriptions the onlooker might mistake for a prayer or some kind of protective ward.

All in all, her bearing is somber and severe, befitting of a woman who might pass as both mourner and executioner at once.

⟨ Small-breast cutie nun alert! ⟩

⟨ Name: Maren Vosk. ⟩

⟨ Age: 23. ⟩

⟨ Rank: Z ⟩

⟨ Race: Human. ⟩

⟨ Compatibility rate: 20. ⟩

⟨ Sister Maren Vosk: She is head nun of the Church. They worship a fully divine being known as the Mother ⟩

⟨ Recommended for a fresh start. But her being a nun makes things difficult. ⟩

I ignored the panel. And as soon as Sister Maren said those words, Seraphine’s grip loosened, and I fell down on my ass.

”My apologies. May the Mother bless your poor soul.”

Seraphine gave us space and leaned back against the wall, polearm between her crossed arms, still insanely pissed.

”We came here because we heard a loud screaming noise, which had an uncanny similarity to a suicide cracker. And the sound happened to come from your room.”

”Ahm, I don’t know what you are talking about, sister.”

⟨ For context, a suicide cracker is a magical capsule. Upon breaking it, a spirit will unalive you. Elias Thorne did use one before I decided to put your soul in his body. ⟩

Both women were slightly suspicious of my answer, like they didn’t want to believe it. Their eyes scanned the room.

”Well, I was just sleeping, that’s all.”

They had nothing to point at; there was nothing in the room or on my face which would work as a lead.

”Well... I’m expecting you would increase your visits to church. Just a precaution on my side.”

Sister Maren tapped the small dark pendant against my hand — the one she was holding. A blessing, I guess.

Up close, I got a better look at the pendant: two waning crescent moons merging with absolutely no symmetry at all, one slightly below the other, inverted. And in the middle of it, there was a small carved star or something.

⟨ The thing you are seeing right now is called the Weeping Crescent Cross. ⟩

”Understood. I will take a mental note.”

”As you should.”

I had to say yes — not because I’m religious or anything, and not because of her either. Sure, the system recommended her, but banging a nun would require a lot of effort.

But maybe I will find some nice girls at the church. Who knows.

”Tomorrow is your first class of the new semester. And I warn you: if I see you slacking off, there will be consequences.”

Seraphine shouted at me — the kind of shouting she calls normal volume, I’m assuming.

Slamming the door shut, hard enough to send a powerful cold breeze over me. These are the first people I found and they both seem crazy.

Seraphine is crazy. Nothing after that.

Sister Maren is nice, but I felt she’s too religious. Which is fine for her role, but not for me. If I want to bang her.
