Pillar of Yita

”Who was crawling on their belly,” the Papalarian’s dark eyes darted, quickly changing the topic: ”By the way, where’s my cup.”

After speaking, he ran over by himself.

But after a short while, Fang Hong heard the little fatty’s dejected shout: ”These damn bastards, these heinous murderers, criminals against humanity, Gront—” Finally, he added:

”The damned cup is actually silver-plated!”

Fang Hong and Luo Hao exchanged glances and both shook their heads speechlessly.

However, at this moment, Luo Hao bent down and picked up a stack of parchments from the shards of glass on the floor. He shook the stack to scatter off the glass debris, then somewhat unexpectedly asked: ”What’s this?”

Fang Hong also saw the stack of parchments, but there was nothing on them.

He thought for a moment and suddenly said to the other: ”Let me take a look.”

Luo Hao obliged and handed over the parchment.

Fang Hong held the parchment with his right hand and took out a thumb-sized reagent bottle from under his coat with his left. As an Alchemist, various basic Magic Reagents and developer liquids were naturally carried around.

The type of developer liquid he used was the latest magical product from the Elfendo Council, suitable for multiple situations. He opened the cap and poured the liquid onto the parchment. The paper did not become wet from the soaking liquid; instead, it was as if mercury rolled across it. After the reagent flowed over, lines of text indeed appeared on the parchment.

Fang Hong couldn’t help but narrow his eyes when he saw the text.

”Abyssal Sea Scroll.”

Beside him, Luo Hao also said it softly.

Fang Hong silently flipped through a few pages, quickly confirming it was indeed the Abyssal Sea Scroll, the same batch Princess Rupert had handed over to him. But he did not delve deeper, merely glanced at it before rolling up and putting away the parchments.

”Strange.” At this moment, Luo Hao muttered again.

”What?” Fang Hong looked at the latter.

Luo Hao then analyzed: ”Logically, these things shouldn’t be ordinary items, and should have been taken away with them during the move. How could they be left here so carelessly?”

Fang Hong thought about it and realized it seemed indeed to be the case.

Then Luo Hao added: ”Captain, you heard earlier when the Princess’ people discovered this place—the time of corpse decay was about three or four days. Meaning the opponent left at least within that timeframe, they had to have ample time and shouldn’t be so hurried.”

Fang Hong nodded again; it was roughly the same.

He looked at the other, noticing the latter’s hesitating expression before asking: ”Luo Hao, do you have any other thoughts?”

Luo Hao thought for a bit before replying: ”Actually, I was already feeling a bit strange. In my opinion, the other party left too many clues behind. For instance, the ritual in the hall—if they weren’t in a rush, they could have cleaned it thoroughly without leaving any traces.”

”But perhaps it’s a form of provocation,” Fang Hong thought for a moment and replied: ”The opponent is reckless, not caring about others coming later. Leaving everything behind might merely be a pressure tactic on Princess Rupert.”

”That’s possible,” Luo Hao didn’t disagree: ”But in that case, why conceal this cellar? Captain, you know, if not for Luo Yu, even the Princess’ people wouldn’t have found this place. In other words, if the other intentionally left the cellar, it shouldn’t be so hidden. But if non-intentional, it cannot explain everything down here.”

Fang Hong looked at the broken glassware pieces on the ground, nodding his head.

”Then,” he couldn’t help but ask: ”Is it possible the opponent left this place in haste?”

”The timing doesn’t match.” Luo Hao shook his head.

Upon hearing this, the two fell into silence.

At this moment, Abed suddenly stepped back towards them with a rustling sound.

The ’Sand Lodge’ owner came before them, holding an item he said: ”Gentlemen, I found something in the wall gap—there seems to be a letter inside, but there’s no writing on it either. Mr. Ade, perhaps you might want to take a look.”

”Wall gap?”

Abed nodded, pointing behind him: ”Over there. I wouldn’t have found it so easily had it not been for the bloodstains on the wall, making the loose brick stand out.”

Upon hearing this, Fang Hong exchanged a glance with Luo Hao, wondering whether this counted as the ’dead’s answer.’

But he still took the letter from Abed’s hand and opened it. Just as Abed had said, the letter was blank, looking just like an ordinary piece of paper.

However, the bottom left corner of the letter was stained with blood, somewhat jarring. Fang Hong held the letter, and with half the developer reagent left, he poured it over the paper.

This time, the previously tried-and-true developer reagent failed to work.

The few watching this scene were all stunned.

Could it be there was never any text on the letter?

So what was the ’Blind Followers’ serious about hiding it within the wall gap for, a prank? But Fang Hong shook his head, believing the other wouldn’t do something so mindless.

Yet holding the letter, a thought suddenly occurred to him. He opened the Dragon Knight System and checked the letter. As expected, moments later, a name flashed on the system’s Light Page—it turned out to be a complete sentence:

’Inform Mr. B, the goods have successfully arrived, this letter should be sent out before the Iris Flower Moon—’

Seeing this sentence, Fang Hong was greatly astonished internally.

Because anyone able to transmit information in such a manner was almost certainly an Invoker.
