Pillar of Yita

A group of people reached the highest point of the Light’s Arch Bridge and only then did they see that the group of survivors had caught up. Fang Hong looked back and noticed the glow object devices on their chests. Different from the crystals of the Dragon Knights, these bore the symbol of a Stargate Ring. He understood what that meant and was momentarily taken aback.

”What is this?”

The Chairman took bold strides to come forward and extended his hand, ”My name is Eternal Night, and although I don’t know if our journey here can change anything, we will give it our all.”

Fang Hong nodded, and without saying much, shook the man’s hand, ”I am called Xiaya.” He actually had some complaints in his heart, originally having agreed not to use this pseudonym anymore, but it was brought up by the Little Princess of the Silver Weslan, and now it looked like he would never be able to shake it off.

As for the original agreement that whoever brought up this name again would be dragged out and beaten to death.

Fang Hong decided to pretend that this possibility did not exist, otherwise, he feared that he would be the first to jump off the bridge and commit suicide.

There was no further small talk between the two parties, as there simply wasn’t spare time to waste at the moment. Tremors from within Fenris Isle were unceasing, and rocks were regularly collapsing around them, falling into the sea of lava below, igniting into burning flames.

The sea of lava below spread wider and wider, the golden-red glow gradually lighting up the entire abyss. Long cracks began to appear on the surrounding cliffs, like spreading scars that would eventually tear the land apart.

Turning their heads, they saw at the other end of the Light Bridge a rocky pillar isle that was even smaller than the ruins they were at before. There were several towering pyramids on the pillar, and some broken streets. When the Light Bridge had lit up, they could still see some Chosen resists.

But now, the resistance had already subsided, the fates of those on it unknown, most likely more bad than good.

At the end of the Light Bridge, a towering, ferocious Dragon Head monster was blocking the passage completely. These creatures had the glossy black scales like those of the Night Lizard People but were much more robust in stature, and on their crowns grew long horns unique to the Andasok Lizardmen. Some even had wings wrapped in black smoke—these were the Dragon’s minions.

But they dared not step on the Light Bridge, the pure divine strength from Lady Marlan, the Shelter Protector of courage and war, filled these dark beings with dread. They could only reluctantly block the junction between the Light Bridge and the rocky pillar, menacingly baring their teeth and claws in this direction.

The number of enemies was almost unnervingly high, but this was not a reason for the group to stop. After the survivors joined the ranks, they silently marched forward together.

By now, the furthest Clockwork Fairy had already flown over the sea of lava, reaching its limit. It sent back the voice of Nether: ”I’ve located the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team, little guy, they are about four or five islets away from you.”

”Wait, I see it, there’s a very long bridge, they are crossing it, and there’s a huge expanse of ruins behind it, it looks like a giant Holy Sanctuary.”

Fang Hong switched the view for a moment and naturally saw this scene too. It was a very long arched bridge, behind a giant Stone Gate emblazoned with the style of the Xinsas—The gate stood within a gigantic Pyramid which in turn was situated between two abysses, seemingly guarding the Holy Sanctuary like a magnificent barrier.

After the stands, behind the giant Pyramid, arched bridges like those of Ancient Rome’s aqueducts spanned a distance of a thousand meters, suspended over a seemingly bottomless abyss where the depth was obscured by heavy fog, and although a golden-red glow flickered faintly, the flames couldn’t penetrate the mist.

On the other side of the arch bridges lay the giant Holy Sanctuary Nether referred to, sitting at the center of a vast expanse of ruins, distinctly different from the others. Upon seeing that place, images from the scene he had witnessed in the Phantom Realm involuntarily surfaced in Fang Hong’s mind.

It was indeed there.

The Lonely Bridge in the darkness, towering Spires and Holy Sanctuaries—that was the birthplace of Toragotos, the lowest level of these ruins.

The thirteenth trial—

”We can’t go any farther, little guy, have your Clockwork Fairy fly back,” Nether warned him at this juncture. ”Beyond that Pyramid, there’s nearly a thousand meters of distance without any visual cover. They would too easily spot you.”

Fang Hong nodded in agreement, trusting the judgment of the Construct Queen. While he was also adept at hiding Clockwork Fairy’s trajectory, when it came to experience, he was far less seasoned than these renowned and experienced seniors.

He let the Clockwork Fairy fly a little further, then made it fly back to hover inside the Pyramid, but did not immediately recall it.

Because the enemy was now in close proximity, he was no longer planning to divert his attention.

”After this expanse of ruins sank underground, the Xinsas Serpentfolk or their servile races must have continued to live underground for a while,” Sophie’s voice came through the channel at this time, ”that giant Pyramid and the Lonely Bridge appear to be artificially built to guard the Main Holy Temple rather than a product of natural subsidence.”

”The Main Holy Temple?” someone in the channel asked.

The cold voice of Virus took over from Sophie and explained, ”The Main Holy Temple is a cluster of sanctuaries surrounding the Sun God Tower - Aka Holy Temple, symbolizing the Sun God System’s strict hierarchical system. Unlike branch sanctuaries, the Main Holy Temple possesses real holy icons and divine strength blessings—of course, that was during the era when they still existed in this world.”
