Pillar of Yita

The earliest ”Knights” were the elite combat forces of various nations, extremely rare and difficult to cultivate. The real reason for this circumstance was the cumbersome and inefficiency of the Magic Guided Conductors of that time.

Since there was no Magic Guided Reactor integrating the Core Crystals, each Magic Guided Conductor of that time had to have its own specialized Core Crystal. The Core Crystal, along with the various components assisting its operation, was massive and complex, requiring the ”Knights” who used them in combat to have a physical condition far beyond that of ordinary people.

In that era, the design philosophy of Magic Guided Conductors was to value size as beauty, with its epitome being the precursor to Dragon Knights—the Giant Construct.

However, the massive structure did not bring about high efficiency.

There was even a ridiculous situation where the method of determining a Knight’s strength was based on how many Magic Guided Conductors they could use; those who could use only one were called ”Knights,” those who could manage two were termed ”Great Knights,” and only those who could handle three or even four and above were called ”Holy Temple Knights.”

In legends, there was a muscular man named Qinchuan Delridge who could simultaneously use seven Magic Guided Conductors and became the only ”Sun Knight” in the history of Eteliria.

But that was merely the twilight of an era.

About a thousand years ago, a genius named Rolin Ed arrived in this world—the greatest Alchemist in history. He proposed an idea and concept:

”To integrate the Core Crystals of most Magic Guided Conductors into a specialized device and use the resonant effect between the crystals to influence the lesser Crystal Shards.”

This idea, in fact, is the design philosophy of the Magic Guided Reactor that has been used up to the present day.

Although the Main Crystal inside the Magic Guided Reactor was even larger and more cumbersome than any Core Crystal from the past, its ingenious design liberated other Magic Guided Conductors and actually significantly reduced the overall weight.

More importantly, it maximized the Magic Power Output efficiency of the Main Crystal, greatly reducing the overall cost and complexity of other Magic Guided Conductors. It also allowed adventurers to focus solely on controlling the Main Crystal, thereby fully unleashing the true power of each Magic Guided Conductor.

All these changes, fundamentally, resulted in a reduction in the physical requirements for ”users” of Magic Guided Conductors.

Thus, the ”Knight” class naturally disappeared, and an era arrived where ordinary people could also use Magic Guided Conductors.

The thousand years that followed were marked by the rapid development of Alchemy.

Successors built continuously on the foundation laid by their predecessors; the Magic Guided Reactor itself underwent several transformations—

Aerlic, (Era of Heroes) 201-252, State Alchemy of Osh Empire—miniaturization and precision of Core Crystals.

Li Oznom, 317-389, State Alchemy of Osh Empire—invention of small-scale Magic Power sensors, replacing Crystal Shards in Magic Guided Conductors.

Ox Steelbrow, 352-471, Dwarf, came from Colin Ishurian Alchemy Association— inventor of the ”Ox” cooling system.

Nick Leme, 669-712, Rotao Free Alchemist—proponent of the Core Crystal Framework.

Finally, the arrival of Earthlings, who introduced the concept of a universal interface.

From then on, the antiquated specialized design of Magic Guided Reactors disappeared into the annals of history, and the Universal Magic Guided Reactor effectively approached the design standard of the era’s Magic Guided Reactors.

It was also from this time that a standardized differentiation in design of Magic Guided Reactors began—

The Combat-Oriented Magic Guided Reactor featured more main interfaces, higher Output Power and Overload effects to facilitate adventurers using their War Gear and achieving greater Burst Strength in combat.

The Magic-Oriented Magic Guided Reactor had enhanced stability, benefiting devices that require stable precision, like Shield Generators.

The Support-Oriented Magic Guided Reactor had more auxiliary and special interfaces, better recharge speed, and lightness to aid support roles on the battlefield.

The Craftsman-Oriented Magic Guided Reactor, since it needed to sustain the daily maintenance of Alchemists and recharge other people’s Magic Guided Reactors or the Core Crystals of Flexible Constructs during combat, had specialized recharge interfaces and the largest Magic Capacity.

Since the Magic Guided Reactor is one of the essential devices for adventurers, and since there is a trade-off, a Magic Guided Reactor definitely could not cover all scenarios—its strengthening in one aspect necessarily meant a weakening in another, making the choice of a specialty-oriented Magic Guided Reactor inevitable.

However, before this, Combat Artisans as a special subset of alchemists actually never had their own specialized Magic Guided Reactors.

Although a standard Artisan Magic Furnace was sufficient, many recharge interfaces were actually of little significance to Combat Artisans. Moreover, because of the need to accommodate combat, other interfaces of the Artisan Magic Furnace were far from enough for Combat Artisans.

Just like the ”Emerald Bird” AA-type Magic Guided Reactor Fang Hong used before, apart from two recharge interfaces and a Magic Storage Interface, there was only one main interface, so he had to place the main control device for the Flexible Construct in his gauntlets, which was very cumbersome.

Of course, a typical rookie wouldn’t need to operate a Flexible Construct anyway.

And it was also thanks to this that his first Walker ”Sword Hong” could actually be made, because general flexible operating gauntlets do not contain a Core Crystal.

This could also be considered a sort of blessing in disguise.

Of course, all this came to an end after the introduction of the ”Central Nerve” type Magic Guided Reactor. This was a Magic Guided Reactor specially designed for Combat Artisans—balancing the number of recharge interfaces, it had a more balanced number of interfaces and could also accommodate the primary duties of Alchemists.
