Pillar of Yita

The spoils of war that Atira and her group brought back were quite substantial, spanning across various items that they laid out in a large pile. Beyond the commonly found Wisteria Vines, Aster Powder, Jute, and Dried Bearberry from Egon Forest, there was also an exceptionally fine Water Attribute Primordial Crystal, which alone fetched a high price of 5,700 Lycel.

Among the remaining items, the Wisteria Vines fetched the highest total purchase price, as they are the best material for Floating Airship riggings, and the Forest Elves also prefer to use it as filler in Elf Longbows. The finest Wisteria came from the forests of Eteliria, and with Atira’s discerning eye, naturally, all selected were of the finest quality.

These vines were sold at the price of 200 Lycel per pound, and although the unit price was not very high, the large quantity brought Atira’s group their biggest income, a near 10,000 Lycel.

As for the other various raw materials, they were mostly add-ons, the only one worth a bit of money being the Elephant Nose Beetle’s Fire System Gland, which was high in unit price, but the quantity was too little; the total did not compare to that of the Crystal Primordial Stone.

Fang Hong also sold the Aster Flowers and Stiff Feathers that he carried. As the Colin Commerce Alliance implemented a regionally uniform pricing scheme, the prices were quite fair, especially since the Dragon Feather Emu’s Stiff Feathers reached a quality of C+. Seventeen feathers were sold altogether for 2,900 Lycel.

Next, Atira and her companions purchased some supplies. The commercial trade activity in the Rainbow Bay area was thriving, with significantly lower regional taxes compared to Rodell. The price of the Silver Blaze Forest’s eyeball tempted Fang Hong.

But he sighed, for compared to the Silver Blaze Forest, he had more important items to purchase.

First, he bought a second-hand Liaison that was 80% new for a bit more than 700 Lycel. This was a product of Earth, but a small portion had found its way into the hands of the Commerce Alliance. Since they were also sold in the Summoners’ Union, their price here was not very high.

Then, he remembered he needed a new Magic Guided Reactor, so he asked the merchant about it. The Dwarf initially appeared somewhat disinterested in such minor trade, but upon hearing someone wanted to buy a Magic Guided Reactor, he immediately perked up and took Fang Hong behind the shelves, lifting a wooden plank there.

A scent of kerosene wafted out.

Wrapped in oil paper and neatly stacked under the wooden plank was a long row of items that Fang Hong recognized from the printed numbers on top as Magic Guided Reactors. Among them, at the very top, was a row of samples, and when he laid eyes on one in particular, his eyes nearly popped out.

Rubbing his eyes, Fang Hong realized he had not seen wrong: the streamlined industrial design with the characteristic Mithril outer ring on the brass casing, it was the ’Central Nerve’ Model AE Magic Guided Reactor.

The latest product from the Osh Imperial Workshop.

Without needing to make a conscious effort to recall, the reactor’s original specifications surfaced in his mind:

Length 41 centimeters, diameter 27.3 centimeters, cylindrical, self-weight 2.2 kilograms, maximum output power 660M, momentary overload 30%, stable overload duration 28.1 seconds.

Two Magic Storage Crystal interfaces, one recharge interface, with a recharge speed 372% of the standard model, a main interface and an auxiliary interface, as well as an uncommon interface, totaling a daunting six interfaces.

The critical value for high-temperature operation is 87, core heat rate 0.3~4.5 per second (under full load), heat dissipation efficiency 1.2 per second; the Core Crystal Framework is ’Floating Island-IX’, arguably the best civilian crystal framework available for this level, able to reduce the Magic Guided Conductor’s output power consumption rate by nearly 17%.

Last but not least, it has a built-in ’Emerald Bird III’ Shield generator, with a Shield Value of 220.

Upon seeing this Magic Guided Reactor, Fang Hong almost started drooling, but then he glanced at the price, and the five zeros made him shift his gaze with difficulty.

Yet that quick glance of his didn’t escape the Dwarf’s notice. The short-statured fellow rubbed his hands together with a smile, saying, ”Respected guest, you truly have a good eye. This ’Central Nerve’ Model AE Magic Guided Reactor just arrived yesterday. It is one of the newest creations from the Imperial Workshop.”

”But it is just for civil use, after all,” Fang Hong replied, hardening his skin.

’Central Nerve’ indicates the production series of this Magic Guided Reactor without a suffix number, meaning it’s not a derivative model. The letter ’A’ signifies it is an artisan model, and ’E’ stands for professional grade; so following the standard convention, this is a professional grade Artisan Magic Furnace known as the Central Nerve.

For comparison, the Magic Guided Reactor he had been using was the ’Emerald Bird’ Model AA from the Colin Kingdom, where the second ’A’ indicates an amateur model, specially provided for apprentice learners and enthusiasts, a difference that spanned leagues.

As for military grade models, they usually add an ’M’ at the end, signifying military use, but that’s merely stating the obvious – professional military equipment is not for sale by nations.

The Dwarf obviously understood this, just smiling at him. He knew full well that this young man was knowledgeable, so he didn’t need to elaborate further − the customer would certainly understand where this Magic Guided Reactor excelled.

Indeed, the ’Central Nerve’ Magic Guided Reactor was a new series in the Imperial Workshop’s Mark IV Magic Guided Reactor family, designed specifically for Combat Artisans like never before.

At this juncture, it’s necessary to touch upon the origins and distinctions of Magic Guided Reactors —

After the Alchemists invented the Core Crystal, the concept of Magic Guided Conductors spread widely across the world. From the moment of their inception, they were employed in military use, hence the birth of ’Knights’ specialized in using Alchemy War Gear.
