Pillar of Yita

Just as Fang Hong’s attention was distracted, a change occurred on the battlefield.

The tall trainee boy suddenly charged out without a word, climbed down from the rocks, and grabbed the Papalarian crossbowman who had fainted on the ground. The elephant nose beetles were converging from all directions, yet awkwardly avoiding their attacks, he miraculously dragged the latter back to safety.

”Thank you so much, you saved Parker’s life!” The elf girl looked at him with immense gratitude.

The girl with the round face and golden hair and blue eyes also screamed and hugged their hero before helping him to reply, ”Don’t mention it, Miss Atira, we still need your help. What do we do next?”

Fang Hong couldn’t help but take another look at the boy, who was very shy and still hadn’t said a word until now.

He was different—

If it had been him with the Morning Dawn Star Adventure Group, he would definitely have started boasting about himself in front of everyone by now, and everyone else would surely be laughing heartily, of course, Miss Sicape wouldn’t be able to resist scolding someone again.

Fang Hong shook his head, still very much admiring the other’s bravery and decisiveness.

Being in tourist status restricted his level and experience gain, and without magical adaptability, the boy was even less capable than he had been initially; just one step slower and he would have been torn to pieces by the elephant nose beetles.

And tourists didn’t have starlight.

Fang Hong knew that there were more than a dozen assessment items for trainees, but dying prematurely surely wasn’t on the list.

He didn’t continue to listen to the conversation; he silently retreated from the bushes, having decided to step in and help. He quietly moved towards where he had previously seen the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team.

”Tata, was that really crushed red crystals?” Fang Hong asked in a low voice.

Tata nodded.

While he had been distracted, Tata had told him that among the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team, there was a summoner. The summoner’s contracted creature was a rare brown-red elephant nose beetle. He must have fed his beetle crushed red crystals and then used its piercing shriek to call the others.

Under the influence of the crushed red crystals, the beetles went mad.

Fang Hong asked Miss Fairy how she knew all this.

Tata explained succinctly—she could understand the cries of the elephant nose beetles.

”You can understand the language of the insects?” Fang Hong was astonished. Was the Dragon Soul that powerful?

”It’s the sounds, not the language, Mr. Knight,” Tata’s small hand released his hair, awkwardly pressing and straightening it, while correcting him, ”They communicate using pheromones, movements, and vibrations. There are thirteen million different vibrations in nature, and I can only understand a small portion of them.”

”Only...?”

Fang Hong realized that his Dragon Soul might really be formidable.

”But that guy must be really rich...” Fang Hong muttered under his breath. Brown-red elephant nose beetles were rare; since insect creatures had very low intelligence, making a contract with them was difficult.

Of course, their combat prowess was often not to be underestimated; they were among the best in their rank, sometimes even capable of challenging creatures one or two levels higher and being immune to most negative mental states.

And tamed brown-red elephant nose beetles were very expensive in the market.

Now, whenever Fang Hong thought of the market, he would automatically think of making money and floating ships, then further connect to his financial situation, and then feel utterly exhausted.

He still had many questions in his mind.

Even if the brown-red elephant nose beetles went mad, they shouldn’t attack the trainees as if it were some pre-arranged assault; they should attack everyone, even sparing none of the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team’s people.

Moreover, those people from Jiefulite were being insanely inhumane.

The Super Competitive League encouraged summoners to help trainees complete their three-month pilgrimage, and summoners who assisted trainees would receive a positive credit record and points within the league. Since this determined the summoners’ prestige within the league—most people would generally lend a hand easily.

To take ten thousand steps back, even if they didn’t help, at the very least, they shouldn’t cause trouble, let alone attack or even kill trainees.

What the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team was doing was incredibly reckless—compared to misleading mercenaries to go to the Dead Silence Zone to die, this was like tender care. Once exposed, this kind of behavior could shake the industry with a scandal.

Of course, Fang Hong had no intention of keeping their secret.

So, he activated the system’s recording function—

He didn’t know whether the people of Jiefulite were insane or utterly fearless, but either way, he was pleased to witness it.

He carefully approached, although he couldn’t make out the rank on their emblem, he could tell from their attire that they were at least formal members—the formal members of the Red Cloak Team wore the red robes of the musketeer team, whereas unofficial members wore brown short coats and unadorned hats.

The feather ornament wasn’t just decorative. It was also an alchemy product that could be used as a one-time smoke bomb.

Among the formal members of the Red Cloak Team, there were both second and third-tier professions, with second-tier members being at least between levels 5 and 15. As for those in the third-tier professions with higher levels, they were almost catching up to Sicape.

Fang Hong had seen just how terrifying professions like the main scouting ranger could be. Sicape could detect the minutest traces under the bushes from tens of meters away. He knew it wasn’t intuition or eyesight.

Rather, if the perception attribute and relevant scouting abilities were high enough, the Summoners System would automatically highlight the contours of anything it could detect with high brightness.
