Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 77: Chapter 77 Open Salt Trade

Xu Xin used salt to trade with Li Wenxi for enough iron blocks, and the two chatted for a while before hanging up the phone.

Chatting with this little beauty always puts him in a more relaxed mood.

Xu Xin listed the salt on the trading platform, pricing it at one green resource for 5g of salt, available for direct trade, with a note to message him if they had blue resources.

This time he didn’t trade anonymously, but used the well-known name [Xu Xin], which was also a form of promotion.

In the explorer group chat.

Zhao Xiaochuan: ”Woah! I was browsing the trading platform and suddenly found that Boss Xu has listed salt!”

Wang Lei: ”??? Salt? Oh my God! I’m going to take a look right now!”

Qin Yunlong: ”Salt? Is it coarse salt or fine salt?”

Xu Xin didn’t expect to be noticed so quickly. He looked at the trading platform and found that his non-anonymous salt trade was placed at the most prominent position at the top of the platform.

...Is this the invisible benefit of being number one on the ranking list?

So he replied in the group: ”It’s fine salt. If you guys are interested, you can go directly to the trading platform, or bring blue-level resources to find me.”

Wang Lei: ”Wow! One green-level resource for 5g, Boss Xu you’re ripping us off!”

Li Wenxi: ”Rip-off? What rip-off? A person only needs around 5g of salt a day. Exchanging one green-level resource for a day’s worth of salt is a fair price!”

Qin Yunlong: ”If it’s fine salt, it’s indeed not expensive.”

At this time, Ji Chaoyang sent him a private message: ”You actually found a salt mine. I’ve been keeping an eye out these days and didn’t expect you to find it first. Two blue-level apples for some of your salt.”

”Okay.” Xu Xin replied, then completed the trade with Ji Chaoyang.

Salt is a necessity. In the short term, it might not be noticeable, but if you don’t consume salt for a long time, symptoms like muscle soreness and weakness, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, and muscle cramps can occur. Such negative states can be deadly in this perilous world.

The regional channel also exploded.

”Wow! Boss Xu is selling something! Salt! My God, he’s really making big moves!”

”I’m in tears. I’ve been in this world for over a week without eating salt as someone who loves strong flavors. It’s not easy for me! Long live Boss Xu!”

”I bought some, and I’m amazed. It’s actually fine salt! I thought it was coarsely filtered salt!”

”One green resource for 5g, isn’t that too expensive?”

”Strongly demand a price drop!”

”Strongly demand a free distribution!”

”Is this even expensive? Do you know how precious salt is? You’re lucky the boss is willing to sell it to you. If you don’t want it, leave!”

”To the one asking for it free, your anonymity makes it hard for me to respond. How about revealing your name?”

He didn’t expect so many people to speak up for him. Unlike Ji Chaoyang, who posted strategies in the regional channel every day, his image seemed grandiose in many people’s eyes, especially after being ranked first.

Those who survived a few events up to now wouldn’t be without a single green resource. Of course, some may have few green resources and are reluctant to use one for a day’s worth of salt.

Xu Xin’s private messages were also flooded, mostly from beggars, some asking him to lower the price, and others standing on moral high ground to criticize him. He directly blacklisted this kind of person, banning them from trading with him.

Getting too close to these people might lead to collateral damage when they’re struck down.

Of course, some people came with blue-level resources to trade with him. Xu Xin checked the names. Several non-anonymous ones were ranked in the top hundred, so it was normal for them to have blue-level materials.

Mostly, these were blue-grade fruits with low value, which Xu Xin exchanged for 50g each for them.

50g seems like a ten-day supply, but generally, a person can’t just put the exact amount of salt. Grilling is okay, but stir-frying uses more salt, as most salt is in the sauce, and only a small portion is actually consumed.

So Xu Xin didn’t think he sold it cheaply.

These blue fruits are always beneficial to have more, as not only does he need them, but there are two more mouths to feed at home.

Xu Xin sent another message to Qin Yunlong: ”Blue-grade water plants, are you selling now?”

”Three water plants for two green-grade iron-tipped spears, is that okay?” The reply came.

This price was fairly reasonable. These water plants weren’t pseudo blue-grade like apple or orange trees that could produce hundreds of fruits, but true blue-grade materials like hemostatic grass.

This essentially grants the superpower of underwater breathing for a short time, far surpassing the resources that restore one’s state, so trading for green-grade iron-tipped spears was appropriate.

Considering that he might need to rely on cooperation with them for underwater resources in the future, Xu Xin agreed to the price and crafted two iron-tipped spears for Qin Yunlong in the trade.

”Don’t you have crocodiles or other aggressive beasts in the water on your side?” After the trade, Xu Xin asked.

”Yes, I only got into the water to find resources after killing them.” Qin Yunlong replied.

”Do you have piranhas there?”

”Piranhas? No, only crocodiles and a few aggressive big fish that I skewered to death. Do you have piranhas there?”

”Mm, a school of piranhas. Currently, I’m a bit too afraid to go underwater. Do you have any advice?” Xu Xin humbly asked Qin Yunlong, considering his superior knowledge of the water.

”With the current equipment, I don’t have a good plan either. If your lake water is flowing, you could consider poisoning it, but I don’t know how long it would take for the lake to self-purify. It’s best to prepare enough water resources in your tree house first.”

”Okay, I’ll consider it.”

Xu Xin had considered poisoning; he currently had contaminated beast meat. Throwing it in for the piranhas to feed on would certainly kill a lot of them. But the side effects are severe. The corpses of the dead piranhas would be toxic, possibly causing mass death of surrounding fish resources.

Moreover, there’s a chance it could cause mutations in those who consume it. Given the large number of piranhas, the probability of mutated piranhas appearing is quite high. Xu Xin didn’t think that a few mutated piranhas would be easier to deal with than a school of piranhas.

”Forget it, the piranhas haven’t spread too much yet. I’ll deal with it after tomorrow’s activity is over.”

With that, today’s matters were mostly settled. Xu Xin was about to lie down on his bed when he suddenly remembered the leather material he had gathered through a day’s toil. The items in the points shop were too tempting, and he almost forgot about the leather armor set.

Xu Xin immediately went to the weapon and armor crafting station to make a set of leather armor using beast bones (blue) and beast hides (blue).

Seeing the effect of the leather armor set, Xu Xin grinned.

[Leather Armor Set (Blue) Four-piece set: Enhances stealth, reducing the likelihood of being detected by enemy units.]

Stealth-specialized outfit! A must-have for stealth!

Compared to the iron armor set, Xu Xin preferred this leather armor set. This world had too many beings he couldn’t contend with. Being discreet was the key to surviving better. In comparison, the leather armor set was more suitable for Xu Xin at this stage, while the iron armor set was only fit for battle.

Come to think of it, without Li Wenxi’s support as a rich benefactor, he couldn’t have made a blue-grade iron armor set at this stage, and maybe the blue-grade iron armor set wasn’t the suitable gear for this stage anyway.

Eagerly, Xu Xin tried on the leather armor set. Taking a few steps, Xu Xin noticed that he barely made any footstep sounds, and the leather didn’t produce any friction noise, indeed greatly enhancing stealth.

”I’ll wear this for tomorrow’s dungeon exploration event.”

Finally finishing all the tasks, Xu Xin lay down on his bed and drifted off into a hazy sleep.

Hopefully, tomorrow’s event will be a bit simpler.
