Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Doctor Substitute?

Xu Xin took a bite of the freshly picked strawberry in his hand. The normal strawberry, sharp tip very sweet, but the bottom tasteless.

Having washed a bowl of strawberries, Xu Xin ate as he contacted Qi Xuefei, who wanted to collect medicinal herbs.

”I have a few snake galls and deer antlers here, but they’re all green grade. Do you want them?”

Qi Xuefei responded quickly: ”Yes, I will trade you with green grade hemostatic herbs.”

”I don’t need green grade hemostatic herbs,” Xu Xin fed Keke a strawberry, ”Can you share some of the medicine you make with these materials with me?”

This time, Qi Xuefei was silent for a long time before replying: ”It’s still in the experimental stage. It will be some time before there are finished products. If you want, I can give them to you then.”

Xu Xin didn’t know if she was telling the truth. Could this Qi Xuefei really have the ability to develop medicine? Was it just ordinary medicine, or was it the kind that gets recognized by the treehouse system and has attribute abilities?

He pondered for a moment and decided to invest in this woman who seemed to have medical abilities.

After all, these things were practically worthless in his hands and served no purpose.

”How long will it take to have a finished product?” Xu Xin asked, placing the remaining half bowl of strawberries in front of Keke. Keke immediately buried its head in the bowl and started eating.

”About three days.” The other party gave a timeframe.

Xu Xin thought of something, squinted his eyes, checked the trading platform, then showed an expression of ”as expected.”

”Are you related to that organization called [Xuán hú jì shì]?” Xu Xin suddenly asked.

This woman was the last to join the organization among all members.

She joined after Xu Xin went to sleep in the evening, and on the day she joined, an organization named [Xuán hú jì shì] began to become active in the regional channel.

To this day, Xu Xin still saw [Xuán hú jì shì] advertising in the regional channel, selling hemostatic herbs (green) at a high price on the trading platform.

Xu Xin always wondered how these people got so many hemostatic herbs. Didn’t they know how precious resources like hemostatic herbs were? Selling them to others would leave them with less for themselves, wouldn’t it?

Another possibility was that they had a method for rapidly cultivating and growing hemostatic herbs.

This woman called Qi Xuefei had quite a few hemostatic herbs (blue) in her hands. Xu Xin didn’t know the exact number, but from his experience of picking wild hemostatic herbs (green), they were always solitary, with only one plant in one location.

So, where did she get so many blue-grade hemostatic herbs from? She’d already sold him three stalks.

Xu Xin just checked the transactions on the trading platform for hemostatic herbs, and in those marked with [Xuán hú jì shì], there was basically a note: Prioritize materials that can be made into medicine.

This aligns with what Qi Xuefei just posted in the group.

”I don’t know what you mean.” The other side took a long time to send this message.

”I have no ill intentions. It’s fine if you don’t want to say anything. I’ll give you these materials. In three days, I hope you can give me a satisfying result.” Xu Xin initiated the trade directly.

”... You’re giving them to me directly?” The other side seemed hesitant and was slow to click the agree trade button.

”It’s not a gift, just collecting the traded goods after three days, consider it a gesture of goodwill for our cooperation.

However, don’t think about reneging. If I publicly declare, as the top in both rankings and a member of the strongest organization [Explorers], that your organization, oh no, that [Xuán hú jì shì] is dishonest in trade and deceives people for materials... I don’t think you’ll want to be scandalized by such a mess, right?”

The other side remained silent for a long time, then confirmed the trade and replied: ”I have no relation to [Xuán hú jì shì], but I’ll do this trade and provide you the results in three days.”

”Alright, I’ll wait for your results. If you have new materials, you can come to me for a trade. I have everything from iron spears, iron swords to heavy iron crossbows.”

...

At the same time, inside another double-layer treehouse, a woman wearing a newbie two-piece set sat on the bed, looking at the content on her watch with some perplexity.

The flimsy newbie two-piece set could not hide her extremely proud figure. Her clean, neat long hair was tied behind her, her face was pure and elegant, and her attire was very tidy, not resembling someone who had just gone through two days of hunting, but rather exuding an air of elegance.

”No wonder he’s ranked first on the leaderboard twice. Trading with him is indeed stressful.” The woman sighed, revealing a slight helpless smile, ”It seems he noticed because of that one sentence I posted in the group.”

Qi Xuefei’s watch suddenly vibrated; someone else was sending her a private message.

It was a message from Ji Chaoyang.

Qi Xuefei braced herself. The second-ranked Ji Chaoyang was probably also coming to her to exchange supplies. She was indeed in need of materials that could be used in pharmacy right now.

Five minutes later, she became silent.

She felt quite foolish, having been hiding herself for days, and even more foolish for sending that message in the group.

”... No wonder he’s ranked second on the leaderboard twice.”

Unexpectedly, just one sentence made these two notice something was amiss. Fortunately, Ji Chaoyang only came to her for cooperation and just casually mentioned this matter.

”Perhaps there’s no need to hide it. I should discuss with Xiaoxuan on how to handle this.”

...

Xu Xin directly sent a video call to Li Wenxi.

Video calls between him and Li Wenxi were now very common, which Xu Xin did not mind. In this perilous world, where danger lurked around every corner, and you rarely saw anyone, having to kill every day, being able to chat face to face with a cute girl was a kind of entertainment.

She picked up quickly, and the video showed that she was also in a treehouse.

”Congratulations, Xu the Champion Scholar, you’re number one again this time!” Li Wenxi sat at the dining table beaming with joy, with several plates of stir-fry placed in front of her, eating dinner.

”Stir-fry? Have you built a kitchen? Doesn’t that require a lot of logs?” Xu Xin looked at the simple unidentified stir-fried dish in front of her, swallowing his saliva. After eating roast meat for so long, he really missed stir-fry.

”The points redemption mall can exchange fertilizer of green quality, and it’s not expensive, only 5 points a bag. I got it with a 20% discount, only 4 points. I used my matured logs, anyway, fertilizer is not a scarce resource.” Li Wenxi said nonchalantly.

What she said, made sense too.

Xu Xin had calculated that a kitchen usually required over a hundred logs, equating to about twenty trees, which was quite a lot. He previously only had fifty portions of green-grade fertilizer, and using twenty for building a kitchen would be too extravagant.

”You really know how to enjoy life...” Xu Xin shook his head.

”Oh well, leaving the fertilizer there is useless, better to enjoy it earlier.” Li Wenxi picked up a piece of meat with her chopsticks, ”But without salt, the taste is indeed a bit bland.”

”... I have some.”

”Sigh, I wish we could find a salt mine... wait, what did you say!” Li Wenxi, with a piece of meat still held by her chopsticks, suddenly slammed her chopsticks on the table, standing up, and the piece of meat flew out of the frame.

Xu Xin couldn’t help but laugh: ”Don’t be so excited. I just discovered a salt mine recently. I can make a salt extractor, intending to give all survivors access.”

”Wow! That’s great! I’ve been eating saltless food for days and almost developed an aversion! Especially these wild beast meats, they’re tough, gamey, and without salt, they taste awful!”

”Then let’s make a trade? I’ll trade salt for your iron blocks, how about it?”

”Absolutely no problem!” Li Wenxi turned her body sideways, showing piles of metal blocks behind her in the camera, ”Hurry up and help me clear some inventory, there’s too much, I’ve even piled it up to the second floor.”

”... You could make some backpacks to use as storage, considering how abundant animal hides are now.”

”... You’re right! Why didn’t I think of that!”
