Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Change, Change, Change!

Xu Xin looked at the 2054 points in his hand and felt quite affluent.

First, this [Human-Shaped Statue (Blue)] was a must-have, costing 350 points.

Just as he clicked to confirm the purchase, a prompt appeared in his mind.

[Please choose a placement location.]

Xu Xin chose the left side of the big screen, and immediately, a human-shaped statue as tall as him crashed onto the left side of the screen with a thud.

”Is this me?”

Xu Xin curiously examined the statue. The statue was identical to him, sculpted to his likeness, and was wearing the beginner’s two-piece set from the start.

He waved his arm, and surprisingly felt slightly more relaxed than before.

”Amazing!”

He spent another 350 points to choose the [Beast Statue (Blue)] and placed it on the right side of the screen.

This statue didn’t resemble Silver King or Keke, but the beast seen on the patterns of the three treasure chests, which was a mix between a qilin and a hybrid creature.

This statue was much more vivid than the pattern, exuding the aura of a mythical beast.

”Keke, do you feel anything?” Xu Xin rubbed Keke’s head in his arms.

”Huh?” Keke tilted his head at him, not understanding what he meant.

Silver King, who was lying on the side, suddenly stood up and let out a loud bark at Xu Xin.

Silver King could feel the changes in himself, but Keke couldn’t. It seemed the statue indeed had no effect on Keke.

Continuing the exchange, a [Large Flower Pot (Blue)] cost 210 points, and a bag of [Natural Organic Fertilizer (Blue)] was 350 points.

Altogether, 1260 points were spent, leaving 794 points remaining.

The flower pot looked very large, nearly a meter tall, about the size of a bathtub, and a portion of green-grade soil filled it perfectly.

”The height of this floor is a bit low.” Looking at the one-meter-high flower pot, Xu Xin felt a bit troubled.

The first floor inside the house was only over three meters, leaving just over two meters of height after subtracting the pot’s height; this meant fruit-bearing plants couldn’t be grown indoors, knowing that apple trees, even when pruned, could reach about three to four meters tall, and if left unchecked, could easily grow over ten meters.

Xu Xin opened the previously unlocked [Treehouse Renovation] from the silver chest, which currently didn’t have an option to remove the flooring.

Forget it, let’s plant some small plants indoors for now.

Compared to what he currently had, he actually wanted to plant some unknown plants with unknown effects to enrich his variety of functional fruits and vegetables.

Xu Xin said in the [Explorer] group: ”Let’s summarize the effects of various blue-grade fruits and vegetables and exchange resources among each other.”

The group quickly reacted, with Ji Chaoyang speaking first.

Ji Chaoyang: ”I had this idea before. Everyone can share what they know about the effects of blue-grade foods. If possible, I’d like to summarize it and publish it on the regional channel.”

Wen Guixin: ”Why summarize it for them?”

Xu Xin: ”The blue-grade resources on the trading platform are too scarce, and there’s no food crisis now. Green-grade food doesn’t last long, so they wouldn’t specifically search for food.

But if they’re informed about the effects of various blue-grade fruits and vegetables, some people will seek them out for collection, and blue-grade resources on the trading platform will increase.”

Ji Chaoyang: ”Exactly, I agree with Xu Xin.”

Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang’s back-and-forth made others in the group more active.

Zhao Xiaochuan: ”Boss Ji and Boss Xu want to grow new things in the house, right? That’s great. I want to grow too, but I have few points left after buying the [Human-Shaped Statue]...”

Wang Lei: ”All I have is red berries, which grant night vision ability for two hours.”

Ji Chaoyang: ”Oranges can enhance mental state, and apples can boost strength temporarily.”

Apples enhance strength? That’s indeed a good thing! However, the apple tree outside Xu Xin’s house still had three to four days until it bore fruit, which felt long. Given the frequency of ”events” in this world, it would likely span across at least two events.

Xu Xin also replied: ”Apricots can slowly restore stamina. Mushrooms increase intelligence.”

Several people who usually didn’t speak much also joined in the conversation.

Qi Xuefei: ”Hemostatic grass quickly recovers wounds.”

Qin Yunlong: ”Water grass allows for half an hour of underwater breathing.”

Seeing Qin Yunlong’s response, Xu Xin squinted his eyes. Another new resource, water grass. The ability to breathe underwater made this a strategic resource, allowing exploration underwater and potentially evading monster pursuit when necessary.

He must purchase some from Qin Yunlong. He wasn’t sure how much blue-grade water grass Qin Yunlong had.

Ji Chaoyang: ”Okay, I’ve noted it down.”

Qi Xuefei: ”If you have medicinal materials, you can trade them with me. I can make use of them.”

Medicinal materials? Xu Xin thought of his snake gall and deer antler. In these past two days of hunting, he had acquired quite a few of these items, but despite browsing through all blueprint lists, he found none that utilized them.

Could it be that Qi Xuefei could make use of medicinal materials?

Even Ji Chaoyang was taken aback: ”You... have the ability to make medicine?”

Qi Xuefei: ”My grandfather was an old Chinese medicine practitioner at the city hospital. I’ve learned a few things from him since I was a child.”

Making medicine himself? Xu Xin frowned, somewhat skeptical.

Traditional Chinese medicine usually has mild effects and is relatively slow but has fewer side effects. However, for someone in their precarious situation, such effects were not very practical; herbs like hemostatic grass, which worked immediately, were the most effective.

Not very knowledgeable in this area, Xu Xin thought maybe Qi Xuefei intended to create some reserved medicines for common ailments like colds. Or, perhaps she had a relevant ability related to medicinal materials.

In any case, Xu Xin did not wish to antagonize her; someone with possible healing abilities was extremely valuable in this world.

Xu Xin first sent a private message to Ji Chaoyang, intending to trade for some blue-grade apples.

Ji Chaoyang proposed exchanging them for the apricots Xu Xin mentioned earlier, and Xu Xin readily agreed. After all, he currently had over a hundred at hand, not lacking them.

[Apple (Blue): A fruit that can be eaten directly, with a sweet and sour taste. Enhances strength for half an hour after consumption.]

A fruit that provides the eater with extra strength, although the duration is shorter than that of restorative states, allowing someone to exert strength beyond their limits, which is immensely valuable.

”Huh!” The little guy tugged at Xu Xin’s clothes, ravenously hungry, having watched the Silver King finish its meal long ago while waiting for Xu Xin’s barbecue.

”Alright, alright, it’s done, here you go.”

Xu Xin placed Keke on the dining table, gave it a small piece of barbecue, and a few ordinary fruits. The little creature immediately delved into eating without a care, oil staining its mouth.

Eating barbecue, Xu Xin pondered: ”There are still many things to be done.”

After dinner, Xu Xin exchanged some seeds on the trading platform using green resources, and after much deliberation, he chose strawberry seeds. He hadn’t found strawberries in his resource area yet. This plant is very low-growing and fits well for indoor planting.

A small plant like a strawberry can’t be limited to just one per piece of soil. Xu Xin planted several strawberry seeds in the flower pot until a prompt informed him he couldn’t plant more after the fifth one was planted, prompting him to open the bag of fertilizer.

The soil which had not been fertilized was green-grade, so the strawberries growing were also green-grade. He wondered if fertilization would have any effect on the strawberries.

Xu Xin carefully sprinkled the fertilizer into the flower pot, afraid that missing even a bit might cause it to lose effectiveness.

The fertilizer gradually permeated the soil, and soon, the strawberry seeds that were just seeds started to grow rapidly, developing runners and producing strawberries. The green glow emanating from the soil transformed into a blue hue.

Success! The soil had become fertile!

But the strawberries didn’t change, the fruits produced remained green-grade. Xu Xin had no choice but to harvest the fruits and remove these five strawberry plants. One strawberry plant produced six to seven strawberries.

Then he planted five more seeds. A few seconds later, tender sprouts emerged.

[Strawberry Seedling (Blue): Will mature and bear fruit in just three days. The strawberry seedling is very delicate, so don’t step on it!]

Three days! Xu Xin went outside to plant a strawberry seed on random soil and found that a strawberry matured and bore fruit in five days.

This meant the flower pot reduced the time by 40%.

What a wonderful thing.
