Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 55: Chapter 55 Contract with the Wolf King

Xu Xin stood on the treehouse, his expression somewhat heavy as he watched the brown bear feeding below him.

”Can the heavy crossbow cause this guy lethal harm?”

If not, if this big guy climbed up in anger, he would be completely defenseless.

Looking at the Wolf King already lying by the tree, he decided to first contract this perfect mount, lest it lose its life while he was dealing with the brown bear.

Looking at the map, due to the brown bear’s strong deterrent power, there were no other beasts around except for the big red dot of the brown bear and the faint red dot of the Wolf King.

”Keke, you stay up there, it’s dangerous down here with that brown bear around!”

”Ying!” Keke nodded his little head, continuing to lean on the windowsill to look down.

Xu Xin removed his armor, stealthily descended from the other side of the treehouse to the ground, and tiptoed to the tree where the Wolf King had fallen.

Close observation allowed him to fully appreciate the charm of this wolf, the strong body, the shining silver-gray fur, the stubborn eyes, and the sharp fangs bared at him. It was the perfect choice for a mount no matter how he looked at it.

Don’t think it has no power to fight back against the brown bear, that’s not because it’s weak, but because the opponent is too strong. The forest overlord is not something a single wolf can handle.

But Xu Xin felt that this wolf, when not injured, could easily face a black bear or wild boar, or even a small-sized tiger such as a South China tiger.

So Xu Xin took out the contract, looked at this wolf that had lost its strength, and said in a gentle tone, ”Do you want to survive? Then sign a contract with me.”

The sharp fangs of the Wolf King gradually retracted, looking helplessly at him.

”Woo...” Perhaps because of the contract card, this silver-gray wolf no longer bared its teeth at Xu Xin, issuing a warning-like low growl, but instead let out a whimper, its gaze softening, seemingly pleading for help.

Xu Xin didn’t waste time, fearing this wolf wouldn’t hold on and might pass away directly, he immediately crushed the contract card in his hand towards it.

Blue fragments enveloped the heavily injured wolf, and to Xu Xin’s astonishment, they began rapidly healing the wolf’s injuries. Within ten seconds, the scratch marks under its neck completely vanished.

Even the fur that was ripped off grew back. The silver wolf’s body, lying on its side on the ground, gradually regained strength from weakness.

Finally, the fully recovered silver wolf stood up, approached Xu Xin, and affectionately rubbed its head against Xu Xin, emitting dog-like ”woof woof” sounds.

[Contract Successful, Acquired Mount: Jungle Gray Wolf King.]

”Succeeded!” Xu Xin suppressed the excitement in his heart, patted the silver wolf’s head, ”From today on, you’re my mount! Hmm... with your silver-gray fur, and since you were once the Wolf King, I’ll call you Silver King!”

The silver wolf stuck out its tongue and licked Xu Xin.

[Conquered Jungle Gray Wolf King, Awarded Points: 50 points.]

A mysterious voice suddenly sounded, making Xu Xin pause.

Does using a contract count as a hunting achievement?

Xu Xin glanced at the map; the Silver King, originally a red dot, had now turned into a green dot.

”So the green dot is a companion’s light?” Xu Xin pondered, ”Keke hasn’t appeared on the map yet, is it because there’s no contract to ensure it?”

Looking in the direction of the brown bear, Xu Xin discovered that the bear was gone, and the dead deer seemed to have been taken away by it, leaving a trail of blood on the ground.

”...Missed a golden opportunity, missed a golden opportunity!” Xu Xin felt a bit of heartache; the brown bear within heavy crossbow range was his only chance to severely injure it, and the points for this forest overlord would surely be very high.

Of course, it was only possible. If he couldn’t deal a direct severe blow, he’d be in danger himself. This big guy could climb up the tree trunk and into the treehouse.

Forget it, the brown bear helped him obtain a very cool mount, just let it go this time. Xu Xin consoled himself.

The Silver King beside him looked at the bloodstains on the ground, showing bared fangs, and issued a low growl from its throat. It still had a deep shadow and hatred for what just happened.

”Alright, that brown bear isn’t something you can deal with right now.” Xu Xin scratched the Silver King’s chin, starting to draw big promises, ”When we become stronger in the future, I’ll let you have your revenge personally.”

”Woof woof...” The Silver King closed its eyes comfortably, emitting small dog-like sounds.

Xu Xin didn’t know if it could understand him. After all, Keke was a special case, so he suddenly said, ”Silver King, sit down!”

”Awoo!” The dignified Wolf King immediately sat down like a dog, but the scene didn’t look out of place at all.

”It can understand!” Xu Xin clapped his hands, thoughtfully, ”Is it that the beasts of this world can understand human speech, or is it because of the contract?”

”Alright, Silver King, let’s take you home; from today on, you’ll be sleeping in the treehouse.” Xu Xin controlled the roots of the treehouse, leading Silver King into the treehouse.

Experiencing the sensation of flying for the first time, Silver King didn’t seem too surprised; perhaps after just experiencing life and death, it didn’t take these minor things seriously.

”Ying!” Upon entering the treehouse, Silver King’s much larger body startled Keke.

However, Keke wasn’t scared but curiously walked forward, examining this handsome silver wolf.

”Keke, from now on it will be our partner, it’s called Silver King, you should get along well. Silver King, this is Keke.”

”Ying!” ”Awoo!”

A small panda and a wolf began interacting, and Xu Xin smiled knowingly, moving to the screen to check the regional channel. At home, he preferred the larger screen.

The number of people in the regional channel was continuously decreasing.

”Oh my god, another fifty people are going to be eliminated! But I really don’t want to go out!”

”There’s a tiger outside! How am I supposed to go out! I’m just holding a stone spear, should I slide it to feed it?”

”You’re lucky to have a stone spear; I only have a wooden stick so far... crafting a weapon crafting station requires iron ore, which I don’t have at all...”

”What the hell, can’t you check the trading platform? Big boss Xu Xin and big boss Ji Chaoyang’s organization [Explorers] is already selling weapons that can only be crafted with a weapon crafting station, and any green-grade resources can be traded!”

”Wow! Really! How could I not know! I need to check it out!”

”Didn’t big boss Ji Chaoyang just post a message in the regional channel? Don’t you even read the bosses’ messages?”

The Explorers have already started selling weapons? Xu Xin checked the trading platform, indeed, several organization members were listing many conventional weapons for sale, requiring resources worth about double the cost for exchange.

Besides, others were also learning from them and listing weapons on the trading platform, with prices similar to theirs.

After all, conventional weapons can be crafted with a weapon and armor crafting station, and some people were able to create such stations.

Xu Xin looked at the [Explorers] group; sure enough, Ji Chaoyang had already mentioned this matter in the group.

”Everyone, the jungle hunting event has started, and many people are still using the most primitive wooden sticks and hammers. We can put up a wave of conventional weapons, pricing them at about double the cost is more appropriate.”

”Additionally, blue-grade food can attract beasts’ attention. If you have the confidence, you can use this to attract and hunt beasts. Moreover, from my testing, blue food in your backpack won’t attract a beast’s attention.”
