Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: The Hunting Activity Ends

Xu Xin was cutting up the wild boar in front of him.

This wild boar, for some reason, was alone in the jungle. He rode the Silver King and charged at it with a spear, without hesitation, taking the wild boar’s head.

Now, wild boars posed no threat to him at all.

”Wow, the effect of that koi fish is showing again!”

This wild boar yielded another blue-grade animal hide.

Now Xu Xin had two animal hides (blue) and two animal bones (blue). He only needed two more of each to make a full set of blue-grade leather armor.

He’s aiming to gather all the materials for the leather armor set today. He wonders what effects the leather armor set might have.

After storing the materials in his backpack, Xu Xin’s watch vibrated.

It was Li Wenxi replying to him.

”I made a blue-level shovel, it does have the transplant function, but the success rate is low, only 50%. However, the probability of digging up seeds is now 100%.”

Only a 50% success rate... I wonder if the success rate can be influenced by the koi effect?

However, as long as it’s not a 100% success rate, Xu Xin still wouldn’t choose to transplant. These over a hundred fruits are enough for now, so there’s no need to rush into transplantation.

This transplant function is really nice. If he has a tool with a 100% success rate, he could continuously plant all sorts of fruit trees and shrubs with [Fertile Soil]. He could open a fruit supermarket to make money.

Putting those thoughts aside for now, Xu Xin replied to Li Wenxi: ”Okay, I got it. Keep up the good work, aim for the top ten again.”

Li Wenxi responded quickly: ”Hmph, with blue-level armor and a crossbow, I’m slaughtering everything, you might not even outperform me!”

Xu Xin couldn’t help but laugh; he had killed two mutant beasts. So he replied: ”We’ll see tonight. Alright, I need to continue hunting.”

”Okay, you too, keep it up!”

Xu Xin glanced at the number of people in the regional channel; there were only 6154 people left. Many people have died in this event again, and another 50 will have to be eliminated. It’s uncertain how long the remaining people can hold on.

He looked up at the sky; the sun was already leaning to the west.

”Gotta gather all the materials for the leather armor before the event ends!”

Xu Xin resumed hunting, racing through the woods on his wolf, leaving no beast within sight untouched, his crossbow scarcely paused, and several crossbow bolts had already been damaged.

As the sky turned a sunset red, Xu Xin carved out the last blue-grade animal bone from a deer, completing the materials for a set of blue-grade leather armor.

”Finally got all the materials.” Xu Xin breathed a sigh of relief.

The effect of the koi fish was indeed very evident. Besides these blue-grade hides and bones, Xu Xin also obtained a blue-grade venom sac from a venomous snake.

[Venom Sac (Blue): Advanced material containing all the venom of a venomous snake, used for making poison arrows or envenoming weapons, with more potent toxicity. Usages: 3]

This blue-grade venom sac, compared to the green grade, not only has stronger toxicity but can be used three times instead of once. One use can envenom 20 poison arrows, so three uses make 60 poison arrows very deadly. This time, Xu Xin planned to try envenoming his spear.

He checked the time on his watch; the event was due to end in half an hour.

After two days of hunting, he now had over two thousand points, with 1000 points gained from killing mutant beasts. He wondered if these points could place him first. The only one threatening his top position was Ji Chaoyang.

Xu Xin didn’t rush back but returned to the altar, not forgetting yesterday’s lesson.

He first sacrificed the hunted [Boar Tooth Offering], causing the progress of the boar statue’s stone pillar to rise to over halfway, then placed the altar dagger back to its original spot.

Then he went back to the previous salt mine cave to mine about a hundred kilograms of salt.

”Time to head back.”

Keke was already asleep on the wolf’s back, used to gripping the wolf’s fur with all four paws, and wouldn’t be thrown off even in sleep.

”Let’s go, Silver King!” Xu Xin mounted the Silver King and began to head back.

”Awooo—” Silver King howled and quickly ran towards the treehouse.

On the way back to the treehouse, Xu Xin didn’t stop, leaving no beast he saw unscathed.

When Xu Xin arrived back below the treehouse, he found several beast corpses pinned to the ground and trees by heavy crossbow bolts. Two bodies on the ground had already been mostly eaten by other beasts.

He did some harvesting and a mysterious voice sounded at his ear.

[Hunting exploration event ended, congratulations to the survivors who returned fully loaded, you are now a mature hunter.]

[Surely, each survivor has gained a lot of points, and the [Point Redemption Mall] will open soon, where survivors can select the materials needed for purchase.]

[Now, announcing the regional leaderboard for this event. The top 100 will receive corresponding rewards. Survivors, please check the screen inside the treehouse.]

[The last 50 survivors, you have 10 minutes left to say goodbye to the world.]

No time for Xu Xin to return to the treehouse; he directly swiped open his watch and opened the [Leaderboard]. Within the [Leaderboard] option were two options, one for the previous [Jungle Exploration Event] and the other for this [Jungle Hunting Event].

He opened the [Jungle Hunting Event], and the leaderboard appeared before Xu Xin’s eyes.

”Nice!” Seeing his name perched at the top, Xu Xin couldn’t help but clench his fist. After all, Ji Chaoyang put a lot of pressure on him, and he didn’t have much confidence in taking first place this time.

You know the rewards for first and second place are different and concern future survival.

[First Place: Xu Xin. Points: 2054]

[Second Place: Ji Chaoyang. Points: 1863]

[Third Place: Wen Guixin. Points: 1586]

[Fourth Place: Zhao Xiaochuan. Points: 636]

[Fifth Place: Qin Yunhu. Points: 605]

...

[6087th Place: Lu Renyi. Points: 0]

The top few names were familiar. Their weapons and armor were better than others, making it unlikely for others to surpass them.

Seeing Ji Chaoyang lag by nearly 200 points, Xu Xin couldn’t help but curl his lips into a smile.

Ranking first in two consecutive events, his position as a boss was solidified, whether in the region or within their [Explorers], hardly anyone would doubt his strength.

But what surprised Xu Xin the most wasn’t Ji Chaoyang but Wen Guixin in third place.

”She actually scored 1586 points?” Xu Xin thought, stunned.

Remember, subtracting the points from those two mutant beasts, he had only 1054 points, and Ji Chaoyang had only 863 points. Even if all the hunting time for mutant beasts were spent hunting other beasts, he couldn’t have over 1500 points.

Below Wen Guixin, Zhao Xiaochuan in fourth had a nearly 1000-point cliff-like gap from her.

Moreover, Wen Guixin hadn’t gathered three treasure chests in previous events and, unlike him and Ji Chaoyang, didn’t have a mount contract, making her mobility less convenient than theirs.

”Could there be an altar near her treehouse?” Xu Xin couldn’t help but speculate, then dismissed it, ”Probably not, if altars appeared randomly within treehouse ranges, people would have discussed it in the regional channel long ago. Besides, Ji Chaoyang and I found them outside a three-kilometer range.”

This woman was indeed not simple.
