She Used Me for a Dare… Now I Own Her Mother

Chapter 546: A Question Earned

God, no.

Naomi screamed in silent panic. Her hands shot to her mouth, fingers digging hard into her cheeks to stop herself, but it was already too late.

That fractured, ruined sound had already slipped through her teeth, hanging raw and undeniable in the narrow space between their chests.

You idiot. You absolute, pathetic idiot.

She cursed herself with every ounce of fury she had left.

Just moments ago, she had been full of quiet arrogance, reminding herself that she was a Late Stage Enhanced mercenary, trained to handle torture, neural shocks, and interrogation protocols that would break ordinary men. She had convinced herself that enduring his touch would be easy.

And then, on the very first touch, she had unraveled like an amateur.

Yet in her own defense, nothing in her training had prepared her for that.

The second his calloused thumb had grazed the bare, drenched crest of her heat, it wasn’t just a touch... it was a jolt of pure, raw electricity that bypassed her brain entirely. The sensation had shot straight up her spine like liquid fire. Her nervous system had short-circuited. Her body hadn’t asked for permission, hadn’t listened to her discipline; her lips had simply parted on their own instinct, letting the fractured sound rip through.

Now, she couldn’t take it back.

She just sat there, frozen on his lap with a hammering heart. She didn’t dare move, breathe, or blink. Her hands stayed locked over her mouth, her pulse pounding so hard against her ribs she was terrified he could feel it against his own chest.

Alex chuckled softly, clearly entertained by how thoroughly she had panicked. Reaching up, his fingers wrapped around her wrists and slowly drew her trembling hands away from her face.

”Relax, darling,” he purred, his gaze dropping to the slick sheen of her parted lips. ”I’m not a monster. I said no moaning, not that you couldn’t breathe. A panicked little hiss choked behind two hands?”

He leaned in until his lips brushed the hot, feverish skin below her jawline, his voice dropping to a gravelly, intimate rasp that sent goosebumps racing across her bare shoulders.

”I won’t count that. I’ll give you another chance.”

His fingers between her thighs gave a slow, slick, punishing little squeeze, pulling a sharp, shuddering gasp from her throat that she barely managed to swallow.

”Consider it professional courtesy,” Alex whispered against her neck, his chest vibrating with quiet mockery. ”After all... it’s no fun breaking a toy on the very first touch.”

The words cut deeper than any insult.

Being granted mercy felt ten times worse than losing outright. If Alex had called the game right then and demanded her forfeit, she could have taken it. But this easy, mocking kindness — treating her like a harmless amateur who needed a handicap just to stay in the game — burned with pure humiliation.

He didn’t see an operative. He didn’t even see a challenge. He just saw a flustered woman playing far out of her depth.

Naomi swallowed against the dryness in her throat, forcing the heat in her cheeks to cool down.

’Get it together,’ she told herself.

She couldn’t afford to unravel over bruised pride. Alex had given her an opening, even if it came wrapped in patronizing pity, and she wasn’t about to waste it.

Slowly, carefully, Naomi drew in a long, quiet breath through her nose, letting the cool air steady the frantic pounding in her chest. She deliberately relaxed the rigid tension in her shoulders, letting her weight settle back against him, and locked down her nervous system with sheer willpower.

The first touch had caught her completely off guard. Her body had betrayed her before her discipline could kick in.

But that was over now. The surprise was gone.

She lifted her chin, her dark eyes meeting his with quiet, simmering defiance. He wanted to watch her shatter? He was waiting to hear another pathetic sound slip past her lips?

He was going to wait all night.

She wouldn’t break again. Not for his touch, not for his arrogance, and not until she had every single answer she had come for.

Alex tilted his head, his lips hovering near her ear as a low, dangerous murmur slipped past his teeth.

”Brace yourself, darling,” he whispered, his eyes glinting with dark challenge. ”I’d hate for you to complain later that you weren’t ready.”

He didn’t give her a second to overthink.

Beneath the hem of her dress, his hand moved with agonizing deliberation. His fingers glided through the slick heat pooling between her thighs, effortlessly parting the damp folds.

Slowly, precisely, the calloused pad of his finger found the swollen, hyper-sensitive crest of her clit.

He didn’t rush. He dragged his finger across it in a smooth, steady line before pressing down with firm, merciless friction... rubbing in slow, deliberate circles that spread her own wetness over the exposed bundle of nerves.

The jolt hit her instantly.

It was the exact same blinding surge as before... raw electricity shooting straight up through her pelvis, coiling violently in her gut, and setting her entire nervous system on fire. Her hips hitched against his lap in an involuntary shudder. The instinct to part her lips and let out a ruined, breathless cry clawed fiercely at the back of her throat.

Not this time.

Naomi locked her jaw until her teeth ached. Her nails bit savagely into the fabric of his jacket, using the sharp spike of physical resistance to anchor her drifting mind. She forced her diaphragm to freeze, clamping down on her own vocal cords with the full, unyielding weight of her training. She let the molten heat wash over her skin, but refused to let it reach her voice.

Her chest heaved in a single, silent tremor, but she didn’t look away. She stared directly into his amused eyes, her lips pressed tightly together.

The friction between her legs was unbearable, coaxing a feverish ache through every inch of her body... yet not a whimper, not a gasp, not a single trace of sound escaped her throat.

Slowly, Alex eased his hand back, sliding his fingers away from between her thighs without pushing any further.

He brought his hand up into the dim space between their chests. His fingertips glistened in the low light, slick and wet with her heat. Holding her gaze, he raised his fingers to his lips and licked them slowly, his tongue savoring her without looking away for even a second.

A dark, effortless smirk curved his mouth.

”You’re quite tasty, darling,” he whispered, his voice low and smooth.

A sudden, dizzying wave of relief rushed through Naomi’s chest.

She had done it.

She had taken the full brunt of his touch and held her ground in complete, unbroken silence. No gasps, no pathetic whimpers, not a single sound.

The bitter humiliation that had choked her moments ago melted away, replaced by a warm rush of genuine triumph. Her discipline had held firm. She had survived his test, kept her secrets safe, and proved to both of them that she wasn’t the fragile, helpless toy he thought she was.

Naomi tilted her head, leaning back just enough to look down into his eyes. The nervous tension in her shoulders was completely gone, replaced by the cool, steady confidence she had fought so hard to reclaim.

A faint, knowing smile played at the corner of her lips.

”So, what do you think?” she asked, her voice smooth and even, without a trace of the breathlessness from before. ”Did I win, or are you going to make up another excuse?”

Alex let out a soft, appreciative laugh, his eyes glittering in the dim light. He didn’t look annoyed by her cockiness at all; if anything, seeing her find her footing again only seemed to entertain him more.

He rested his hand casually against the curve of her bare thigh, his thumb brushing warm against her skin in an easy, approving stroke.

”You clearly won, darling,” he murmured, his tone smooth and unbothered. ”Fair and square. Not a single ruined sound.”

He leaned back slightly against the leather cushions, looking up at her like a man who was thoroughly enjoying the show.

”And a deal is a deal,” Alex whispered, his smirk widening with dark curiosity. ”Go ahead. Ask me that question you’ve been so eager to know.”

A slow, genuine smile curved Naomi’s lips. The lingering heat between her thighs was still humming, but the power in the room had shifted, and she fully intended to savor it.

She leaned in closer, closing the distance until the scent of her perfume completely filled the space between them. Slowly, deliberately, she raised one hand and traced the soft pad of her index finger along the sharp contour of his jawline, dragging it upward across the faint stubble of his cheek.

”See, I really am the curious type,” she murmured, her voice silk-smooth and dripping with effortless charm.

Her fingertip came to a light rest near the corner of his mouth, her dark eyes locking into his without a flicker of doubt.

”So tell me, Mr. Mystery... what are you really here for?”

Hearing her question, Alex didn’t hesitate. A low, rich laugh broke from his throat, rumbling deep in his chest as his smirk sharpened into something far more dangerous.

”You really are relentless, aren’t you?” he murmured, his smirk sharpening with dark satisfaction. ”Never letting a man breathe.”

Alex caught her hand, his fingers curling over hers to gently lift her finger from his cheek.

He didn’t let go. Holding her hand firmly in his own, he guided her arm outward, using her own finger to point straight down toward the flashing strobe lights and the crowded dance floor.

”I’m here for that man right there,” Alex whispered, his lips brushing the curve of her ear.

”Raymond Cole.”

He paused, letting the name settle in the narrow space between their chests before his grip on her hip tightened with sudden, deliberate weight.

”Your boss.”
