She Used Me for a Dare… Now I Own Her Mother

Chapter 545: Let’s Make a Wager

”What... what kind of work?”

The question left her in pieces, little more than a breathless sound against the collar of his shirt.

Alex heard the eagerness under the shake in her voice, and his mouth curved into a slow, wicked smirk.

”See?” he murmured, the low rumble of his voice vibrating through her skin. ”Didn’t I tell you? You’re far too curious for your own good.”

He shook his head with mock disappointment, his fingers idly rolling the delicate lace between his fingertips, teasing the sheer boundary that stood between his hand and her bare heat.

”Even like this, breathless in my hands... you’re still fishing,” he rasped softly, his teeth grazing the sensitive skin below her jaw. ”A dangerous little habit, Naomi, almost as if... you were playing detective or something.”

The moment the words left his lips, a sudden, cold jolt of panic pierced straight through the molten fog in her head.

Damn it.

Did she push too early? Did she sound too eager?

A Late Stage Enhanced mercenary was supposed to know better. In an operation like this, control was everything. You didn’t interrogate the target while trembling on his lap; you let him brag, let his ego do the work until he spilled the intelligence unprompted. Asking directly, especially right now, with her pulse hammering out of control and her body completely compromised, sounded clumsy. Suspicious.

If Alex had even an ounce of street sense, he would realize she wasn’t just a bored, married attorney looking for a dirty thrill. He would see the operative fishing for his secrets.

Her chest rose and fell in tight, shallow gasps, waiting for the sudden chill of suspicion to enter his posture.

Instead, a quiet, rumbling chuckle vibrated against her skin.

”Relax, sweetheart,” Alex murmured, his low chuckle washing warm and dismissive over the exposed skin of her shoulder. ”If you were actually undercover, you’d be doing a terrible job keeping your composure.”

He tilted his head, breathing in deeply as his face brushed through the dark waves of her hair, inhaling the rich scent of vanilla, expensive perfume, and the faint, sharp tang of pure adrenaline.

A dizzying rush of conflicting sensations hit Naomi like a physical blow.

First came the sharp, overwhelming wave of relief. The icy panic that had seized her chest melted away, leaving her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird. He doesn’t know. The cover wasn’t blown. To him, she was just an overeager woman who had stepped out of her depth and fumbled a dirty game.

But then a hot, acidic wave of humiliation burned right behind the relief.

A terrible job keeping your composure. The words tore straight through her professional pride. She had survived black-site interrogations, executed covert strikes across heavily guarded borders, and dismantled corporate syndicates without leaving a trace of dust behind.

Her entire reputation was built on ruthless discipline and surgical precision. Yet here she was, being casually dismissed like a clumsy amateur playing dress-up. What made it sting ten times worse was the bitter, undeniable reality: he was right.

She wasn’t composed. She had let herself become utterly compromised, so completely consumed by his heat that her tactical mask had slipped.

Alex’s lips brushed the corner of her jaw, catching the slight flare of defiance in her eyes.

”You look like a woman who hates losing,” He murmured, his thumb trailing lazily across the tight line of her jaw. ”But don’t look so offended, sweetheart. I don’t like keeping a beautiful lady in denial forever.”

Beneath the hem of the crimson silk, his hand shifted. Sparing no mercy for her frayed nerves, his fingertips slid past the damp edge of her lace, slowly tracing the burning contours of her bare, sensitive heat.

The touch was light, agonizingly light, yet it sent a jolt straight up her spine.

Naomi’s thighs instinctively clamped together. Her muscles clenched in a desperate, reflexive bid to shut him out, but the reaction backfired completely. Trapping his large hand between her legs only pressed his calloused fingers tighter against her core, deepening the friction until stars flared behind her closed eyelids.

Her jaw locked tight. Her fingernails bit into the fabric of his trousers as she fought with every shred of her remaining will not to let a sound slip through her clenched teeth.

A low, dark rumble of satisfaction vibrated in Alex’s chest. He didn’t pull back. He simply let her hold his hand captive against that unbearable furnace.

”Let’s make a wager, darling.” he whispered, his tone smooth, dangerous, and utterly unhurried. ”And if you managed to win, I’ll answer your questions. Every last one of them.”

He leaned closer until his lips brushed the heated shell of her ear, his breath scorching across her skin.

”The catch is simple,” Alex rasped. ”You keep those pretty lips completely sealed. Not a whimper. Not a gasp. Not a single ruined sound escapes your throat while my hand is between your legs. You survive my touch in absolute silence, and you earn your answers.”

His fingers flexed against the soaked edge of her lace, dragging the rough pads of his knuckles in a slow, slick stroke along her bare threshold.

”But if you break...” His voice dropped into a low, velvet purr that vibrated down her spine, lethal and mocking. ”The game flips. You forfeit the secrets, and you pay me back in kind. Something of equal value.”

His fingers flexed beneath the lace, testing her shivering resolve with a slow, deliberate stroke.

”Think that disciplined little mind of yours can handle the price?”

Naomi was in no position to care about his challenge. The heat coiling between her thighs was a suffocating fog, clouding her instincts with every slow, agonizing drag of his knuckles against her weeping core.

It was nearly impossible to think. Her nervous system was firing on all channels, saturated by the friction of his fingers and the heavy press of his erection against her hip.

She forced herself to breathe anyway.

What did he want? Why offer a wager at all? If he was so sure she was only a bored wife chasing a dirty thrill, why would he believe his answers mattered to her? A man who thought she was harmless should have laughed the question off. A man who thought she was hunting secrets should not have put those secrets on the table.

Unless the wager was never about the answers.

Unless he wanted to watch her lose.

Her body answered before her mind could finish the thought. The soft, swollen lips of her pussy clenched around nothing, greedy for the fingers that already rested at the threshold and still refused to enter. The emptiness was worse than the touch. She could feel how close he was, how little it would take, and her hips wanted to chase it even as her pride told her to sit still.

She could still turn this into a win.

If she held her tongue, she would walk out with the information she had come for. Later she could look her husband in the eye and call it work. She could tell him she had let the target believe he was in control, that every moan she swallowed had been part of the play, that the man in the shadows had seen a compromise when she had only been buying time.

And when it came to holding her tongue under pressure, her confidence was absolute.

She was a Late Stage Enhanced mercenary. She had been trained to keep her mouth shut through pain, through fear, through rooms designed to break people far stronger than a handsome stranger with clever hands. Enduring the touch of a man without making a sound was not a trial.

He thought he was backing a desperate, breathless woman into a corner. He had no idea he was dealing with an operative whose threshold for pain and stimulation was dialed far beyond human limits.

Naomi swallowed, lifted her chin a fraction, and let the smallest smile touch her mouth.

”Fine,” she whispered. ”I accept.”

Keeping his gaze captive, Naomi slowly, deliberately spread her knees.

She opened her legs wide across his lap, relinquishing the last barrier of defense. The motion drew the sheer silk aside, leaving her swollen, dripping heat completely bare and surrendered to the heavy palm resting between her thighs.

A slow, wicked smile spread across Alex’s lips. He didn’t look down; he kept his eyes pinned to hers, relishing the stubborn flame of her pride even as he felt the slick, boiling friction of her surrender beneath his knuckles.

”You look far more eager than confident, darling,” he whispered, the words laced with dark, effortless mockery.

Before the insult could fully register in her mind, his hand moved.

He didn’t thrust inside. Instead, his calloused thumb found the drenched, hyper-sensitive crest of her clit, pressing down with devastating precision before dragging across the swollen bundle of nerves in a slow, circular caress.

The sensation was an electric shock straight to her nervous system.

”Shh—!”

The sound tore past her teeth before she could stop it, a sharp, fractured hiss of air that was halfway between a gasp and a ruined sob.
