She Used Me for a Dare… Now I Own Her Mother

Chapter 543: Drink, Sweetheart

Naomi leaned into Alex, capturing his mouth in a bold, breathless collision.

He tasted of expensive bourbon, faint spice, and a suffocating, raw heat that instantly stripped away her composure. The taste of his lips was far more delicious than she had ever braced for, sending a sharp, electric jolt straight down to her core.

The moment Raymond had slid his photo across the table back at the safehouse, Naomi had already made up her mind. One look at those cold, sculpted features, and she knew she wasn’t letting this target slip away easily.

Yet seeing him walk into the bar tonight had made the dossier look like a joke. In the flesh, his lethal magnetism was magnified a hundred times over. His every movement sharp, commanding, and dangerously attractive.

She knew her husband was watching from the shadows, forced to choke down every humiliating second of the spectacle. She couldn’t care less. The man was being paid far too well to swallow his pride and chalk it up to operational necessity.

She deepened the kiss, twisting her fingers into his collar to pull him closer, determined to shatter his cool composure. But Alex remained an unyielding wall of stone beneath her hands, calmly weathering her assault without giving an inch.

Even with her Late Enhanced stamina, her lungs gave out first, forcing her to tear her mouth away with a sharp, shuddering gasp.

Her chest heaved against his suit, drawing long, ragged breaths as she fought to steady her runaway pulse. Her lips were flushed, stinging, and parted as she leaned back just far enough to look into his face.

For all her effort, she hadn’t managed to shake him in the slightest. He sat there as calm as carved marble, watching her with that infuriating, heavy stillness.

A wicked, breathless smirk tugged at the corner of her mouth.

”What’s the matter, Alex?” she murmured, a wicked glint in her eyes as her lips curved. ”Afraid my husband might wander over and catch you playing with what’s his?”

Alex’s lips curved into a slow, dark smirk. He raised his hand, his thumb catching her lower lip... still wet, bruised, and glistening... and traced the soft contour with an easy, deliberate stroke.

”Afraid?” The word rolled off his tongue like a dark joke. ”If I gave a damn about what another man thought, you wouldn’t be straddling my lap right now. Don’t mistake patience for hesitation, Naomi.”

Before she could even register the words, his hand snapped into the hair at the nape of her neck. He pulled her forward and took her mouth.

If Naomi’s kiss had been a bold attempt to seize control, Alex’s was an absolute, suffocating conquest. There was nothing gentle about it. It was possessive, demanding, and utterly ruthless like a predator claiming what was in his grasp. He parted her lips with a bruising, relentless hunger, devouring her breath, invading her senses until the world around them blurred into static.

Her enhanced constitution did nothing to shield her. A helpless, smothered whimper caught in her throat as the room spun. Her hands clutched frantically at his shoulders, her fingers digging through his suit jacket just to anchor herself against the sheer, suffocating gravity of his presence.

He only broke the seal when her chest was heaving with its final, desperate reserves of oxygen.

Alex pulled back just an inch, his eyes gleaming with dark amusement as Naomi slumped slightly against him, completely unmoored.

Her head was swimming, her pulse hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird. A single kiss had left her legs trembling and her defenses completely shattered.

Alex wasn’t finished.

His free hand dropped to her bare, exposed thigh, his calloused palm radiating intense heat against her silky skin. He squeezed firmly, an unmistakable claim of ownership, before leaning in until his lips brushed the heated shell of her ear.

”I wasn’t hesitating because of fear, darling.” Alex whispered, his voice a low, lethal rasp that made every hair on her body stand on end. ”I was only wondering why you left him all the way over there... It would have been far more entertaining if he were standing right here, forced to watch every single thing his wife does on my lap.”

Naomi’s breath hitched. A violent, intoxicating shudder tore straight through her core.

His large hand began to glide upward, slowly riding the hem of her crimson dress higher along her inner thigh. The slow, torturous friction was maddening.

Naomi’s eyelids fluttered shut, her breath shuddering out as she surrendered to the sheer, dizzying wave of sensation. Her hips instinctively shifted against his lap, the heat between them turning razor-sharp as his fingers crept steadily higher, grazing the ultra-sensitive skin just a fraction of an inch from the lace of her panties—

Clink.

The sharp, heavy crack of crystal against the polished marble counter shattered the air.

”Your drinks, sir.”

The bartender set the heavy crystal glasses down with practiced indifference. Without sparing the intertwined pair a single glance, he gave a crisp nod and melted quietly toward the far end of the counter, granting them their privacy.

Taking advantage of the brief interruption, Naomi placed her palms on Alex’s chest and slid gracefully off his lap. Her feet met the floor, and she turned toward the vacant barstool beside him, desperate to buy herself a few seconds to stitch her shattered composure back together.

Yet beneath that poised facade, she was silently cursing the bartender’s impeccable timing.

For all her training, she hadn’t wanted him to stop. That illicit, breathless friction, the terrifying sensation of his hand creeping along the edge of her panties had sent a molten jolt through her veins that she was already aching to feel again.

Her dress had barely smoothed against her hips when a large hand closed around her wrist like a steel shackle.

Before she could pivot, Alex hauled her backward with effortless, irresistible force. The breath was knocked from her throat as she was dragged down, landing firmly back across his thighs, this time with her back pressed flush against the solid wall of his chest.

”Running away so soon, sweetheart?” Alex’s voice rumbled directly behind her, his low, mocking baritone vibrating through her shoulder blades. ”And here I thought you weren’t the type to run from danger.”

Naomi opened her mouth to shoot back a stinging retort, but the words died instantly on her tongue.

Sitting squarely in his lap, the thin, slippery silk of her dress offered no protection against what was beneath her. The heavy, unyielding ridge of his arousal pressed hard and unmistakable against the curve of her backside, radiating a suffocating heat that made her entire body lock up in pure shock.

’He’s...’ Her breath hitched, a dizzying wave of heat flooding straight between her thighs.

Instinctively, she shifted, her hips rolling slightly as she tried to adjust herself and ease the sheer friction.

It was a mistake.

The moment she moved, Alex’s arm banded across her stomach, pulling her violently flush against him until there wasn’t a millimeter of space left. He tilted his head down, pressing a slow, searing kiss directly onto the bare curve of her nape, his lips grazing the sensitive skin where her hair was swept aside.

A ragged shiver ripped down Naomi’s spine, her fingers digging involuntarily into the fabric of his trousers.

”Careful with how you move,” Alex whispered, his breath scorching against her ear, laced with a dark, predatory promise.

His large hand, resting heavy against her flat stomach, began to glide upward over the slick crimson silk. His fingers spread wide as they reached the swell of her breast, cupping the full, generous weight before slowly, deliberately kneading the soft flesh in an unapologetic claim of ownership.

Naomi clamped her teeth together, desperately fighting to hold her ground, but the sheer, torturous friction broke through her discipline. A muffled, breathless moan slipped past her lips and vibrating straight down into the core of her thighs.

She forced her eyes open, blinking through the haze of heat, and her gaze locked onto the shadowy alcove near the elevators.

Her husband was still there.

He was trembling with impotent fury, his knuckles white where his fists were clenched at his sides. Humiliation was etched into every rigid line of his face, yet he didn’t take a single step forward. The fear of blowing their cover and unleashing venue security kept him paralyzed, forced to bear silent witness to another man claiming his wife.

The sight sent a twisted, illicit thrill racing through Naomi’s veins.

Behind her, Alex didn’t pause. His thumb lazily rolled over her taut, sensitive nipple through the silk, while his hips shifted forward just enough to grind the solid, suffocating length of his erection harder against the curve of her backside. The unyielding pressure was impossible to ignore, burning through her thin dress and turning her legs to water.

Leaning in, Alex reached across the marble counter with his free hand, lifting one of the heavy crystal glasses of bourbon.

Instead of taking a sip himself, he brought the chilled rim directly to her parted lips, his arm bracketing her so she had nowhere else to turn.

”Drink,” Alex ordered softly against her ear.

Naomi swallowed, letting the amber liquid pour down her throat. The smoky, blistering heat of the alcohol met the fire already pooling in her blood.

She drank deeply, greedily, never once looking away from her husband until the glass was empty and a single, stray drop of bourbon trailed down the corner of her swollen lower lip.

His thumb swept across her jawline, catching the wet trail of bourbon on her lip before pressing it into her skin. He nuzzled into the crook of her neck, inhaling the sweet heat of her perfume, entirely focused on the trembling woman trapped in his lap.

”I wonder what that husband of yours would say if he could see you right now,” Alex rasped, his voice a low, lethal hum against her throat. ”Trembling on another man’s lap, taking a drink straight from my hand like you’ve been starved for it.”

A ragged gasp tore from Naomi’s throat as his fingers clamped down over her breast in a punishing, possessive squeeze.

”He wouldn’t be able to do a damn thing,” she whispered, her voice husky and ruined with breathless heat.

Alex’s teeth lightly grazed the delicate cord of her pulse, his hips shifting forward to remind her of the iron beneath her.

”Good girl,” he rumbled against her skin. ”Because the night is still young... and we have far too much left to do.”
