Berserk God of War

209: Chapter 209: Hometown, Heartless and Unrighteous People 209: Chapter 209: Hometown, Heartless and Unrighteous People “The only other possibility is that his martial arts will is astonishing,” said General Ning, his eyes sparkling with intensity.

“But without a martial root, no matter how strong his martial arts will is, it’s just a pipe dream.

Once we arrive in the Long Night Empire, though, we can reconstruct his martial roots.

As long as he achieves fourth grade, his prospects are boundless,” General Ning went on, a gleam of decision in his eyes.

Elder Wei nodded in understanding, seeing that General Ning truly valued Sikong Jing.

As they had suspected during the first round of martial evaluation, cases like Sikong Jing’s, where the dantian has been reconstructed, could potentially awaken the martial root with the help of medicine and other methods.

However, the required materials were worth a fortune.

It seemed that General Ning was willing to pay a great price to reconstruct Sikong Jing’s martial roots.

Indeed, he was worth it, for Sikong Jing wasn’t just eighth-grade martial arts wisdom.

He was most likely tenth-grade full martial arts wisdom; he hadn’t just passed through the thirty-two wooden steles, but had also fully grasped and integrated the Long Night Black Burning Sword!

Eighth grade martial arts wisdom might be overlooked, but not tenth-grade full martial arts wisdom.

Each individual possessing it was a rare genius.

…

Three days later, Sikong Jing returned to Yunzhou City.

He summoned the Five Dragons General and other core figures of Yunzhou, informing them of his impending visit to the Long Night Empire, and then left a Green Jade Tube in the newly established Yunzhou Martial Arts Hall.

Carved inside was the Black-armored Soldier’s Long Night Black Burning Sword.

This Green Jade Tube would serve as the treasure of the Yunzhou Martial Arts Hall, guarded by the Five Dragons General, Luu Ji.

After spending another day making arrangements in Yunzhou and leaving behind manuscripts of military strategies,

Sikong Jing took Su Yuexi’s hand and once again mounted the Flying Blood Colorful Winged Horse to enter the territory of the Great Shang Dynasty.

Three days later, Sikong Jing and Su Yuexi arrived in Youzhou State within the Great Shang Dynasty.

They landed in a small town called Xiaosang.

Su Yuexi asked in confusion, “Brother Jing, aren’t we supposed to go to the Great Shang Imperial City?

What place is this?”

The town was not large but seemed quite prosperous.

The pristine stone paved roads crisscrossed straightly, offering a comfortably enjoyable sensation.

“This is Xiaosang Town, my hometown,” Sikong Jing said, leading Su Yuexi by the hand as they walked through the town.

Su Yuexi was astonished, for although she knew Brother Jing had been the Great Merchant Invincible God General, he never mentioned his hometown and his family before.

She suddenly felt nervous.

Was she going to meet his parents as the proverbial shy wife?

“Today is the memorial day of my sister, Sikong Ling.

As her older brother, I have to burn some paper offerings for her and tell her that I will be leaving for a faraway place and might not come back to see her for a few years,” Sikong Jing said with a sorrowful voice.

Su Yuexi’s heart tensed and she gripped his hand tightly.

“Ling’er sister, how did she pass away?” Su Yuexi asked in a low voice.

Sikong Jing gave a bitter smile and began to recount the story of him and his sister, Sikong Ling.

Tears fell from Su Yuexi’s eyes without restraint, realizing that Brother Jing had such a difficult childhood, which made her own seem much more fortunate in comparison.

Just then, Sikong Jing pointed towards a street ahead.

“Just past that street is the house where I lived, but now let’s first visit my sister.

Her tombstone is in the Small Mulberry Forest, not far outside the town.”

Saying so, the two left the town and entered a small mulberry forest.

After a few dozen steps, Sikong Jing stopped abruptly.

Ahead, at the grave of his sister, Sikong Ling, a crowd of hundreds had gathered, shouting loudly about something…

He quickly made out what they were saying.

“Smash the tombstone, it’s made of fine Jade Gold Rock, Sikong Jing’s sister doesn’t deserve it.”

“And trample down all these flowers and grasses as well.”

“Town Chief, should we also dig up Sikong Jing’s sister’s coffin and feed her corpse to the dogs?” the voices rang out.

The noises pierced into Sikong Jing’s ears.

In an instant, Sikong Jing’s head roared, and he rushed out, his voice hoarse with rage.

“What are you doing?”

This sentence, carrying a wild murderous intent, pressed down on those who were desecrating Sikong Ling’s grave, and they collapsed to the ground with a crash.

One by one, their faces filled with terror as they looked up and screamed in unison, “Sikong Jing!”

At the same time, Sikong Jing glared intently at his sister’s grave.

The headstone had been smashed off a corner, with only half of Sikong Ling’s “Sikong” character remaining.

Around it, the Ice Burning Flowers that Ling’er loved most were now nothing but scattered petals on the ground, broken and forlorn.

The surroundings of the headstone, all the ravages in view—even the dirt mound piled up with stone bricks had been pried open to one side.

Indistinctly, one could see a corner of the coffin inside.

Grit, grit, grit…

Sikong Jing’s teeth ground together audibly.

His entire being was in a state of extreme fury, the second time he had been this enraged since Su Yuexi had nearly died last time.

If he hadn’t already been demonized once, he would probably be covered in black scales right now, ready to tear everything apart.

But his eyes were still a deep red, the beast blood within his body burning furiously.

His heart in the dantian pounded violently, as though it was about to burst forth with the craziest True Qi.

Finally, his voice arose, cold as the Nine Nether: “Why?”

His gaze fell upon the town chief prostrated on the ground—of course, he recognized the chief of Xiaosang Town, named Fu Cheng.

In the past, every time he returned to his hometown, Fu Cheng was obsequious and unceasing in his effort to gain favor.

Even when Fu Cheng didn’t know that Sikong Jing was the Great Merchant Invincible God General, he still knew that Sikong Jing had become a high-ranking general.

Every time he heard that Sikong Jing was coming home, he welcomed him with great pomp.

But this time, he was leading people to smash his sister’s grave!

Upon hearing Sikong Jing’s question, Town Chief Fu Cheng shouted loudly, “Sikong Jing, you still dare to ask why?

You, as the Great Merchant Invincible God General, held in esteem by the Emperor as if his own child, committed a heinous and unforgivable crime.”

“You actually dared to attempt assassination on His Majesty.”

“If I don’t dig up your sister’s grave, I, as the town chief, might be dragged out one day and beheaded.”

“Hehe, as long as your sister’s grave is destroyed, I will have something to report back to His Majesty.”

Each sentence struck sharply at Sikong Jing’s heart, his cold gaze sweeping over everyone present.

It turns out that the negative propaganda spread by Yang Tianmo about him had reached Xiaosang Town.

At this moment, Su Yuexi rushed out, her body trembling as she pointed at the crowd: “You’re going too far—Brother Jing hasn’t done anything wrong, it was the Emperor of Great Shang, Yang Tianmo, who framed him and wanted to kill Brother Jing.”

But the crowd looked at Su Yuexi with indifferent eyes, their sneers continuous.

“What does that matter?

If a lord wishes a servant dead, the servant must die.”

“That’s right, even if the Emperor wants to kill Sikong Jing, he must stick his neck out to be chopped off—we are people from his hometown, and if we get implicated, it will be a disaster for us.”

“Exactly, I have amassed a fortune and certainly do not wish to die.”

The cold, heartless words spoken by the crowd made it seem as if Sikong Jing should be beheaded even if he were innocent.

Enraged, Su Yuexi’s face turned crimson, unable to utter a single word.

However, Sikong Jing laughed, a laugh more terrifying than that of a devil.

He extended his finger, pointing outwards.

“Where did your immense wealth come from?

It was brought by me, Sikong Jing.”

“My parents are not from Xiaosang Town.

I don’t have any blood relation with you all, and you cannot be implicated by me—this is something you know better than I do, isn’t it?”

“Remember, when I begged you to lend me some money to save my sister, what did you say?”

“Haha, there’s no one with the surname Sikong in Xiaosang Town—why should I lend money to you?

I have no blood relation with you.”

“Now, just to curry favor with the Great Shang Dynasty, you want to destroy my sister’s grave.”

Sikong Jing’s voice was as cold as the icy hell, seemingly expelling gusts of chill from his mouth.

Suddenly, with a tight clench of his fist…

boom, the entire body of Town Chief Fu Cheng exploded into a mist of blood.

“Ah!”

Seeing this scene, everyone was so frightened their bodies turned to mush, completely collapsed on the ground.

Sikong Jing then said, “Even if I truly am guilty of the most heinous crimes, my sister Sikong Ling is innocent, and she is no longer in this world.

How venomous must your hearts be?”
