From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

”Yeah, it’s that Miss Su Jiameng you’re always thinking about, and I also saw those two little ones with her, really adorable.” Dongshou Yi replied teasingly, though Gu Ningxuan’s IQ and EQ were a mismatch, he didn’t notice anything off, ”But, that woman seems quite ordinary, what’s so good about her that you like her so much?”

Gu Ningxuan took a long while before saying, ”It’s not that Miss Su is ordinary, it’s just... I feel a bit unworthy of her. Her goodness can only be perceived by those who truly know her. She’s very strong, not like typical girls... Overall, she’s a really good woman.”

Alright... My dear buddy is really trapped, can’t wait to say good things about her.

But does he even know that the more excellent a woman is, the more careful you need to be? He ran off without a word for so many years, didn’t clarify his feelings, Su Jiameng has no idea... What if one day he returns, she might have already become someone else’s beloved wife?

”If you like her, go for it early on, don’t tell me you don’t believe in your own charm? Though your charm is there, that bad temper of yours... Sigh, I reckon if you keep tortoise-waiting, the likelihood of ending up single is high...” Dongshou Yi pondered and said, ”Even though you had some trouble, there’s an upside, liking her... shouldn’t face any opposition.”

Regarding this issue, Gu Ningxuan chose to avoid directly answering, ”This... let’s talk about it later, in my current situation... it’s just a few years... let’s not talk about this, how’s Miss Su and Xiao Xi and Xiao Feng?”

”Looking pretty good, the two lads seem quite spirited, as for Su Jiameng... what can I say, she probably is doing well too.” Dongshou Yi propped his chin with one hand, glancing at the sneaky photos of Su Jiameng and then sent them to Gu Ningxuan, ”I’m at a parent-teacher meeting now, she’s sitting in front of me, could only take her back view, take a look to relieve your craving a bit, once the meeting disperses, I’ll take a couple more clear ones for you...”

Gu Ningxuan could only be speechless at this, then said half-laughing, half-frustrated, ”Please don’t do that... Miss Su’s alertness and wariness are not to be underestimated, once the meeting’s over, be careful not to be mistaken for a hooligan and get roughed up in a sack.”

Dongshou Yi’s expression twitched, instinctively glanced at Su Jiameng’s back, only to see her slightly turn her head, casting a cold side-eye that seemed to shoot icy shards at him. His dear buddy, how did he fancy such a woman?

Earlier he just sneakily took a couple of photos, though he’s not a professional paparazzo, with such discreet methods, unless you’re a master, it’s nearly impossible to notice his moves! He’s quite confident about this.

Yet this woman discovered it so easily, even protested his actions... Indeed, maybe it’s not Gu Ningxuan’s eyes making a mistake, but rather he’s wrong about her? This woman doesn’t seem to be any good... Instead of worrying whether his buddy can chase after her, might as well worry whether this lad will be wrapped tightly around her finger?

”The woman you fancy is quite fiery.” Dongshou Yi said half courteously, ”Now I somewhat understand why you’re so assured in leaving, such a woman... except for you, no one has the courage to fancy her, right?”

Gu Ningxuan smiled faintly, neither affirming nor denying. Su Jiameng’s goodness is something he himself understands.

The rare contact between the two friends made this parent-teacher meeting a special occasion for them to connect emotionally, Dongshou Yi hesitated for a long time, finally asked the question buried deep in his heart, ”Ningxuan, will you... ever join the Military Department again? It would be such a pity if you don’t.”

Even after all these years, Gu Ningxuan still found this question heavy, ”Yi... you know my situation, even if I went to the Military Department, there wouldn’t be much future. Besides, I feel like my current life is quite free, life has so many paths, it’s not necessarily about going to the Military Department. The only regret is breaking the promise with you all, unable to show off our skills together there.”

Dongshou Yi was speechless, not expecting his friend to have seen the issue so clearly. Yes, now although Gu Ningxuan hasn’t been locked up, he bears marks of disgrace on him, once entering the Military Department, his unglamorous past will have no cover. Not to mention him, even the Gu Family, which has severed ties long ago, would be mocked head to toe!
