From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

”If... if everything in the novel became a reality, I’d be in big trouble as the author,” Su Jiameng half-joked, ”I don’t want to be surrounded all day and treated like a shaman making prophecies...”

Everyone fell silent. Even though they knew Xiao Meng liked to let her imagination run wild, this time she had really let it soar.

Su Jiameng wasn’t aware that adaptation was actually a very straightforward process, with a complete system and flow already in place. She arranged a time with K3 to discuss the scenes and some models of the Insect Race in more detail later...

The five of them chatted about other things in the group, such as issues they encountered in their studies.

In this regard, K3 and the others were quite amazed, because the questions they dealt with were very complex and wide-ranging. Yet, no matter how profound and difficult the question, one that some teachers couldn’t give an exact answer to, it was no big deal for Su Jiameng.

Xu Na once tentatively asked her about it, and Su Jiameng’s answer was very simple, ”Didn’t I say before, I don’t know either... It’s like these things are etched in my brain naturally, and when you ask, the answer just floats up...”

Alright, the four felt that this answer was perfunctory to the highest degree, like a one-size-fits-all, dogmatic response. K3 and the others couldn’t remember how many times Su Jiameng had given them this brush-off answer... however, they always felt unsatisfied!!!

But, being unsatisfied is one thing, asking questions is another. Having a skilled doctor like this around made learning a breeze.

”I’m not saying anything, but it always seems like Xiao Meng... is really similar to the ’Su Jiameng’ in the novel, with such a strong aura. However, in terms of luck, our Xiao Meng has it better...” Xu Na said teasingly, satisfied with the correct answer she received, ”Don’t you think the person in the novel is just a tragedy?”

Su Jiameng paused, looking at the message on the virtual screen. Tragedy... does everyone think so? Is it really tragic?

Lucy had a lot to say about this, having followed the book for more than five years, read it over and over again, and felt somewhat like Xu Na, ”Though I think Xiao Meng is narcissistic for giving the novel character the same name, every time I read it, I find myself inserting Xiao Meng into the story...”

Su Jiameng’s mouth twitched. She was being real; there was nothing narcissistic about it... Really, she could prove it with her pure eyes, there wasn’t a trace of lying or narcissism... she was quite serious, really!

Lucy continued, ”But it’s strange, each time I read it, I feel Xiao Meng perfectly matches with the ’Su Jiameng’ in the book, especially as the story progresses. It’s like they’re the same person... seems like Xiao Meng really put a lot of effort into this book, otherwise it wouldn’t be so harmonious and seamless... not a bit out of place.”

”Sometimes I secretly wonder if the ’Su Jiameng’ in the novel jumped out of the book to become the Xiao Meng we know?” When Lucy said this, others chimed in, but it nearly scared Su Jiameng to death.

Rarely speaking, Xu Lei cracked a joke, ”If that’s really the case, then we’re in luck. The ’Su Jiameng’ in the novel is virtually unbeatable on the battlefield. With such a master as a guide, entering the Military Department would be a walk in the park for us, right? Major General Su? If we ever encounter the Insect Race or something like that, please look after us...”

Su Jiameng raised her hand to calm her excited heart. Though she knew they were joking, she still felt a bit anxious.

But... since they were all joking, she might as well reply in kind, mimicking her earlier tone, ”Alright, you four reckless little bunnies are really daring beyond measure. Truly fresh from the woods with no fear. When you run into those Insect Races, don’t start bawling, I’ll only be responsible for bringing you here, not for collecting your bodies...”

”Oh no, Xiao Meng really thinks she’s Major General Su, using lines to joke with new recruits...” Xu Na and the others joined in, laughing, without realizing that their guesses were close to the truth.

Su Jiameng chuckled bitterly. Actually, Xu Na was right before; in a past life, Su Jiameng was indeed tragic. People around her left one by one, and she couldn’t hold on to a single one, ending up all alone. There’s no such thing as reincarnation in this world; once someone dies, they’re truly gone. As for the novel talking and laughing at the River of Forgetfulness, it’s sheer nonsense!

Thinking about it, she felt she could give the novel’s ”Su Jiameng” a different ending.

Just then, K3 asked her, ”Xiao Meng, since the novel isn’t finished serialization, adapting it into a series might require filming while airing. Whether it’s daily, weekly, or monthly depends on your update speed... By the way, how does the novel end? They wanted me to ask so they have an idea, in case they add original plots and don’t want to run into the novel’s ending by surprise...”

”Is there a need to ask? According to the novel’s direction, the ending must be a happy one. Major General Su naturally survives to defeat the Insect Race’s big boss, then retires and lives lovingly ever after with the final male lead... Xiao Meng doesn’t seem like a fan of tragic endings.”

Lucy’s words made Su Jiameng smile wryly... Is there really such perfect happiness in this world?

She wishes... but unfortunately, it’s not in her destiny. (To be continued. If you like this work, please vote using recommendations and monthly tickets at Qidian (qidian.com), your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please read at m.qidian.com.)
