From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

Looking over, Su Jiameng realized she knew this person. He was the young man with Su Yanjing earlier, named something like Su Lu.

Always cheerful, Su Lu was now somewhat flustered, standing in front of Su Yanjing with hands on hips, angry, ”Xiao Jing, didn’t you say you’d participate in this competition and beat those guys thoroughly, but you actually ran away at the last minute.”

”I didn’t run.” Su Yanjing disliked the term ”ran away at the last minute,” which was a humiliation and denial to him.

”You didn’t run away... where were you when the match started? I was so angry, especially since I worked so hard, using all my arguments and energy, to bring you into the Iron Lion Team. I had told the captain you’d be participating...” Su Lu fumed.

Su Yanjing’s eyes flickered, with a hint of mockery. He asked seriously, ”What time did you say the competition starts?”

”Well, it’s... it’s...” Su Lu stopped suddenly, showing a few traces of embarrassment. It seemed... he had informed Su Yanjing to join the match more than an hour after it had started.

Su Yanjing, with extreme aloofness, glanced at Su Lu, his grand-uncle, who had a terribly high seniority but such a frustrating personality. He was already mentally prepared for such forgetful behavior.

Naturally, after his embarrassment, Su Lu needed to change the subject, so his gaze fell on Su Jiameng and then looked at the expressionless Xiao Jing. He thought he might have discovered some budding signs of a secret affair. But before he could say anything, Su Jiameng was already getting up to leave.

”Wait, you can’t go.” Su Lu temporarily put aside the ”must-talk-about underground love affair” with Su Yanjing, intending to pursue another matter, ”I heard you talk about the Iron Lion Team. Your comments sounded quite insightful.”

Su Lu’s adolescent memory was good, and he naturally recognized Su Jiameng as the girl who had helped on the floating bus before. He had a good impression of her, but after unintentionally hearing her comments, his protective nature flared up, and he was displeased.

The Iron Lion Team meant something unusual to Su Lu, but Su Jiameng said it wasn’t good, which was quite frustrating. Moreover, all the members of the Iron Lion Team were students of Xilena First Affiliated School. How could their abilities be lacking?

”Alright, I was just speaking truthfully. You don’t need to thank or praise me. I understand your feelings.”

Su Jiameng spoke with a flat tone, like a straight line, yet the more she was like this, the more uncomfortable Su Lu felt, though only to an extent. Honestly, it was normal to feel imbalanced and uncomfortable when something you value is belittled by others.

”You...” Su Lu was somewhat speechless, claiming he wanted to praise her. Don’t take things out of context and distort the facts.

Su Yanjing watched their interaction from the side, amused internally. He had thought Su Jiameng might be a very mature woman, strong and rational. Even if she wore the skin of a sixteen-year-old girl, her heart must be very mature.

But now seeing this, it seemed far from his imagination... She also had such a mischievous, teasing side. He really hadn’t expected that. Slightly tilting his head, Su Yanjing felt inspired, thinking he could create a satisfactory doll after going home.

”Miss, it seems you have some strong opinions?” As she spoke, two women with somewhat similar appearances approached not far behind Su Lu, one with a calm demeanor, the other more lively. The speaker was the latter, who had a great figure and a slightly flamboyant presence.

”Not strong opinions, just random rambling.” Su Jiameng glanced briefly at the Iron Lion Pattern on their forearms and understood. These two were likely members of the Iron Lion Team; otherwise, they wouldn’t have reacted so strongly to her comments.

”Lanyue, don’t make trouble.” The other woman spoke slowly, with a leisurely tone that gave an eerie sense of urgency, ”This miss was just speaking frankly. Losing this time isn’t disgraceful. A single failure doesn’t matter; we can regain the upper hand next time...”

”Got it.” Although the woman called Lanyue was disgruntled, since her elder sister had spoken, she had no choice but to stop. Persisting would make her seem ungracious and intolerant. She muttered, ”... Losing in such a confusing manner this time is really frustrating...”

Liu Dongyi didn’t say much, just gave Su Jiameng a deep look before taking her sister away. Although they lost the match, there were many follow-up matters to handle, and the damaged Mecha needed repairs and modifications.
