Chapter 191: Chapter 95: Nipped in the Bud

Since there are dormant Adhesive Devouring Worms here, it at least indicates that this world has the Insect Race, although they are located in the deepest parts of the universe. Far, far away from places inhabited by humans or other interstellar species, they won’t come into contact unless certain opportunities arise.

If the Adhesive Devouring Worm awakens and evolves into the advanced Insect Race by consuming all the students on Qiming Star, and sends out a signal to summon its companions, then... what kind of human tragedy it will be, she can already imagine it.

Naturally, Guan Changxi wouldn’t oppose her proposal; for now, it’s the best approach. To nip all known and unknown dangers in the bud and achieve the greatest effect at the smallest cost. But... how can this be done?

Su Jiameng was troubled by this problem as well, but tonight is already deep in the night, and her mind was groggy, unsuited for further discussion. Returning to her room, she took a shower. Her damp hair emitted steam, and beads of water gathered at the tips, dripping down.

Tossing and turning on the bed for a long time, she couldn’t sleep. As soon as she closed her eyes, scenes from her past life surfaced. The time she personally killed the instructor whom she treated as a father, watched as one companion and subordinate left one by one, and finally those mocking faces of the players...

Opening her eyes, she found she couldn’t sleep no matter what, so she simply went to the basement to train, to unleash her excess energy. However, when she stepped onto the first basement level, she found the training room brightly lit... someone was training?

As soon as this thought arose, she remembered her earlier promise to Gu Ningxuan to use the training room. At this hour, the only one still practicing here would likely be that guy. Sitting beside and staring at the bright light, she began to zone out.

Probably after half an hour, Gu Ningxuan came out sweating profusely, with an unseen joy on his face.

He was about to grab a towel to wipe the hot sweat constantly emerging from his face when he saw Su Jiameng sitting there in a daze, her hair somewhat damp. He handed her the clean towel. Looking at the suddenly appearing item before her eyes, she frowned and asked, ”What for?”

”To dry your hair, your hair is still wet.” Gu Ningxuan sat a bit far from her, to avoid his body odor from the sweat affecting her, ”Dry it, otherwise after sleeping tonight, you’ll wake up with a headache tomorrow.”

Holding the towel dumbly, Su Jiameng realized she had previously gone to bed with wet hair. She had wondered why her pillow felt so damp when sleeping, ”Uh... thanks, aren’t you using this towel?”

”I’ll just take a shower and then sleep.” Gu Ningxuan replied with a wooden expression, resembling more of a qualified robot than Changxi.

Upon hearing this, Su Jiameng wasn’t polite about it. Awkwardly, she used the towel to rub her hair, as she usually dried it directly with a dryer after washing, rarely using a towel like this, hence being a bit inexperienced at it. Watching Su Jiameng’s actions, Gu Ningxuan’s mind suddenly conjured the image of a small chubby bear clumsily raising its paw to touch its ear, his face flushed slightly.

”Ahem... why aren’t you asleep this late?” Gu Ningxuan’s work ended late; he didn’t know Su Jiameng attended K3’s birthday party. Even if he knew, he wouldn’t think much; young people’s gatherings are entirely normal.

”Some concerns... unable to sleep.” Su Jiameng dejectedly hung the towel over her head, her long hair messy.

Concerns? Little girl’s concerns? Like suddenly thinking a certain guy is really handsome today, really likes him, wants to throw herself at him kind of concerns? Gu Ningxuan’s forehead silently trickled three black lines, finding it hard to imagine that scenario.

Because Gu Ningxuan was once a praised genius who maintained such calmness despite major upheavals, which made Su Jiameng feel he was reliable, she involuntarily spoke more, ”Now it’s stuck in my chest; closing my eyes is suffocating.”

Gu Ningxuan only learned a couple of days ago that Su Jiameng’s real age was sixteen, still a naïve girl having pink dreams.

Although Su Jiameng’s demeanor somewhat exceeded that age’s scope, presumably, the so-called concerns were generally similar — harboring self-perceived monumental issues but truly trivial when spoken aloud...

Thinking about it, Gu Ningxuan attempted to advise Su Jiameng, ”Actually, if you genuinely have something on your mind, find someone to confide in — this could be a friend, family, even an unknown stranger online, or a diary. No matter what it is, once spoken aloud, the burden inside will lighten, turning around might reveal the matter was just so-so.”
