Chapter 187: Chapter 93: Long Time No See, Insect Race

Su Jiameng couldn’t resist Xu Lei and his sister, so she had to wait in agony for Guan Changxi to arrive. If things were indeed as serious as he said, then it was truly grave. About two minutes later, Changxi piloted that comedic flying device over.

Xu Lei asked him what happened at the store, a trace of doubt flashed in Changxi’s heart, but he quickly lied smoothly, ”It’s not very serious, but it does require the owner to handle it personally. It should take about half an hour to resolve.”

Hearing this, Xu Lei felt much more at ease, and he took his sister on the mecha and flew away. Su Jiameng’s face suddenly turned serious, and as she left with Guan Changxi, she asked in a low voice, ”Are you sure you didn’t make a mistake? Is it really... that thing?”

Changxi’s eyes flashed with a cold light, and he affirmed, ”There’s no mistake. I detected the signal on my way back from the store. Although the opponent’s spirit wave was very chaotic for unknown reasons, one thing is certain, it is alive.”

It turned out that Changxi had been patrolling the store and, after helping for half the day, was planning to go home. On the way, he suddenly thought that Su Mo liked flowers, so he thought of buying her a bouquet as a gift, changing his usual route home.

Passing by a building that was about to be demolished, he discovered there were living Insect Race creatures there... Changxi didn’t have time to observe, so he noted the coordinates and informed Su Jiameng.

Although he could distinguish between Insect Race and non-Insect Race, and his combat power was strong, bluntly speaking, he was just a robot, operating purely on energy, and Insect Race fed on energy. If he accidentally got into trouble, he might not make it out alive.

For safety’s sake, Guan Changxi immediately sent an SOS signal to Su Jiameng without saying another word, which led to Su Jiameng lying to politely refuse Xu Lei and his sister’s kind offer to take her home. Luckily, Changxi had good judgment, otherwise, it would have been exposed.

The night wind was chilly, and even wearing Xu Lei’s coat, she still felt cold. Parties are physically exhausting, and Su Jiameng tiredly rubbed her brow. Given her current state, the one piloting the flying device was Guan Changxi.

Standing on the flying device, her gaze shifted downward, easily seeing the dazzling lights of countless homes below, the city’s lights numerous and bright as day, the scenery incredibly magnificent. Such a peaceful night was dazzlingly beautiful.

However, the thought of a possible ”old friend” brought a touch of worry to her brows, and her brow furrowed slightly.

She couldn’t remember how long it had been since she’d seen such a tranquil nightscape, and for a moment, Su Jiameng was lost in it.

But just as her thoughts were about to slip into past memories, her heart suddenly skipped a beat, and all drowsiness disappeared, ”Changxi, something’s up, stop here first!”

Something up? Changxi looked blankly at the ground, still a short distance from the building ruins he had found earlier.

Carefully sensing, he discovered familiar spirit waves emanating from below, though much weaker than before. If not for Su Jiameng’s discovery, he might have missed it.

As the flying device descended, Su Jiameng jumped directly from a height of several tens of meters before it fully landed, standing on the ground with an unprecedentedly grave and murderous expression, ”It seems the situation is more serious than we thought...”

Upon hearing this, Guan Changxi felt a foreboding sense increase in his heart, ”Could it be a very high-level Insect Race?”

But that didn’t seem right either, if it were a very high-level Insect Race, the whole Qiming Star would be engulfed in bloodshed, how could it be this calm night? Su Jiameng shook her head, ”It’s not a high-level Insect Race, on the contrary, its level is very low...”

”That guy is roaring— I think, it must be an old friend—”

When saying the words ”old friend,” Guan Changxi could feel the hatred strong enough to break teeth, ”Changxi, protect your Energy Block, come with me!”

Guan Changxi followed Su Jiameng’s swift pace, and the pair, human and robot, moved through the city lights’ unseen darkness, appearing especially eerie. The closer they got, the more astonishment and terror appeared on Guan Changxi’s realistic face... this spirit wave...

Su Jiameng activated her telekinesis, and the familiar roaring sound in her ears grew clearer, even accompanied by chewing sounds... The familiar sound, familiar spirit waves, familiar nauseating smell... It really was the Insect Race.

But to say the other party was the Insect Race didn’t seem quite right either... This violation of common sense made her very uneasy.

Su Jiameng dangerously narrowed her eyes, that feeling was somewhat different from the Insect Race, besides the scent of the Insect Race, there was also a human scent. What exactly was this strange feeling? Was it because the Insect Race consumed humans and got contaminated with the human scent?
