Cultivation is just so scientific!

Chapter 328: Chapter 210: Becoming a Disciple (Extra chapter for FangXiuV until death FangXiu)_2

“What Body Refinement Technique did you cultivate? Why do I sense an aura of death within your body?” Elder Jian lightly patted Li Yuanba and then asked.

“I cultivated the Sword Cultivation Technique from the ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’!” Li Yuanba let Elder Jian examine him, extremely worried inside that the secrets of this body might be discovered, yet he spoke calmly.

Just like Elder Su, the master of his original body Li Shiming, Elder Jian had also never heard of the ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’.

“Show me the ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’!” Elder Jian demanded aloud.

Li Yuanba took out an empty Jade Scroll, imprinted the contents of the ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’ onto the scroll on the spot, and presented it to Elder Jian.

Although he hadn’t formally become a disciple, in practice, Elder Jian was already his master.

...
A mere ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’ was nothing; he would have handed over the ‘Ten Directions Sword Cultivation Technique’ if Elder Jian had desired it.

Elder Jian took the Jade Scroll, read through the content of the ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’, and fell silent for a long time.

“It’s a pity. This sword cultivator chose to walk a different path; his courage is something I myself cannot match!” Unlike Elder Su of Shushan Sect, Elder Jian held the ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’ in very high esteem.

Seeing Li Yuanba’s inquisitive gaze, Elder Jian showed a smile on his face.

“Long ago, sword cultivators were divided into two factions, one excelling in close combat and the other specializing in long-range sword control. As magic cultivation rose to prominence, close combat sword cultivators became shields for magic cultivators, which was against the sword cultivators’ philosophy. Hence, close combat practitioners became rarer, and their legacies were mostly lost.

The creator of the ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’ was clearly a close combat sword cultivator, seeking to restore the former glory of such cultivators by toughening their bodies early on. It’s just unfortunate that the technique only progresses to the Golden Core Stage, and for some reason, it was not developed further, ending abruptly at the Golden Core!” Elder Jian explained with a sigh.

In fact, Elder Jian had also guessed the possible reason—the close combat sword cultivator likely perished during the Golden Core Stage, never becoming a Nascent Soul, let alone creating a Nascent Soul Stage ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’.

Even the Golden Core Stage Technique of the ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’ had mostly become a method for creating and strengthening Spiritual Artifacts, lacking the previous brilliance.

Elder Jian vaguely saw the process of a dazzlingly talented sword cultivator from his radiant prime to mediocrity, until his eventual extinction.

“But it’s strange, how can cultivating the ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’ result in an aura of death in the body?” Elder Jian studied the ‘Sword Demon Secret Manual’ repeatedly but couldn’t find the source of the death Qi.

He assumed it to be some issue that Li Yuanba encountered during his cultivation. However, after examining Li Yuanba’s body and finding that the death Qi had no negative impact on Li Yuanba’s cultivation, he let it be.

“Follow me!” Elder Jian led Li Yuanba out of the mission hall, and soon after, the two transformed into two sword lights and departed.

Elder Jian slowed down the sword light, causing Li Yuanba’s hair to stand on end, for the mountain ahead was enveloped in numerous strands of Sword Intent, seeming to wound anyone who approached.

“That is the Ten Thousand Sword Peak of the sect, and it’s also where my cave dwelling is located!” Elder Jian explained indifferently.

As Elder Jian descended, a path opened within the Sword Intent, allowing the two to enter.

Approaching the mountain covered in Sword Intent, Li Yuanba felt all the Sword Intent within him stirring, as if it was resonating with the Sword Intent outside.

“The Ten Thousand Sword Peak of Senluo Sect was taken by force; it originally belonged to a mid-sized sword cultivator sect’s main peak, and was moved here by several of our ancestors!” Elder Jian shared the origin of the Ten Thousand Sword Peak.

Li Yuanba couldn’t imagine such a mountain being moved this way, and considering that a sect with such a peak was likely quite powerful, it seemed incredible that even their foundational peak had been taken—a hallmark of devil cultivation.

“Master, are there few sword cultivators within the sect?” Li Shiming hadn’t felt the presence of sword cultivators within the Ten Thousand Sword Peak and couldn’t help but ask curiously.

“It’s just us who are true sword cultivators now; the rest have all deviated from the path and will not come here!” Elder Jian shook his head.

As the influence of the Senluo Sect grew, so too did the number and variety of its cultivation techniques and resources, especially with the abundant opportunities to obtain the corpses of cultivators, leading to widespread practice of Demon Cultivation Techniques.

Cultivator corpses weren’t only used for Corpse Refining; they were also utilized for extracting souls, refining essence blood, and many other methods that were taboo in other sects but common practice within the Demon Sect.

Hence, the more troublesome it was to enter a cultivation technique, the fewer cultivators there were who practiced it.

Of course, this was partially due to Elder Jian’s reluctance to cultivate sword cultivators. As the master of Ten Thousand Sword Peak, he almost never opened it to outsiders, making it difficult for sect cultivators to access and stimulate Sword Intent on the peak.

When Li Yuanba finally had a clear view of Ten Thousand Sword Peak, he understood the origin of its name.

The mountain was filled with all kinds of broken swords, most of them magic artifacts, but among them occasionally could be seen some spiritual swords.

Upon landing on the summit of Ten Thousand Sword Peak, he also saw five flying swords with the aura of magic treasures embedded in the rocks at the very top.

Even though he had preserved a flying sword treasure in his original form, upon seeing the five flying sword treasures, he still felt the urge to step forward and take one for himself.

“Don’t bother looking, all the swords on Ten Thousand Sword Peak have fused with the mountain itself, none of the swords here can be drawn out, let alone taken away from Ten Thousand Sword Peak. These five flying sword treasures are the mountain-suppressing treasures, even more immovable!” Elder Jian glanced at Li Yuanba and explained with a smile.

Elder Jian had intended to show Li Yuanba around and, after a general introduction to Ten Thousand Sword Peak, he then led Li Yuanba to his cave dwelling.

“I’ve learned a bit about your situation, the sect couldn’t find any records of your origins, and listening to your account, it seems you come from Sky Sea Island, not a native cultivator from Beishu!” Elder Jian said indifferently, seated in the main seat of the hall.

Li Yuanba was well aware that his origins could not be investigated, because this body had no history at all.

“Don’t worry about anything, I’m not interested in your origins, and I’m not a native cultivator myself either!” Seeing Li Yuanba’s unease, Elder Jian said with a wave of his hand and a smile.

“You are a principled lad, I’ve looked into your activities since joining the sect, and you haven’t studied the Demon Cultivation Techniques of the sect, focusing solely on cultivating and honing Sword Intent. Have you always appeared with a mask because you do not wish to be tainted by association?” Elder Jian continued.

Li Yuanba was truly startled; such an interpretation was not what he intended. It was true he wore a mask, but not because of any dissatisfaction with the sect.

Moreover, a cultivator wearing a mask did not really affect normal interactions, since cultivators can identify each other through their auras, which was an even easier way to distinguish identities than hiding one’s face.

“I chose you as my disciple because I like your purity. It’s hard to find such pure sword cultivators in the sect anymore. My successor must be a pure sword cultivator!” Elder Jian sighed, revealing the main reason for taking Li Yuanba as his disciple.

Suddenly, Li Yuanba didn’t want to explain anymore. He thought about how he must hide Jiang Chen from Elder Jian, for if Elder Jian discovered Jiang Chen’s existence, he might change his mind.

He was not at all a pure sword cultivator; he was striving to become one, yet he also possessed powerful Corpse Refining as his trump card.

To a traditional sword cultivator, such a practitioner would be considered impure.

Yet he believed that surviving was what mattered most; the sword cultivators who lived were the good ones.

Another reason he wore the mask was quite simple: his face was too striking, so dazzling that not covering it up could cause problems.

“Master, I wear the mask out of necessity!” he finally removed the mask and explained to Elder Jian.

Elder Jian, upon seeing his face, was also taken aback, and then burst into laughter.

“You had better keep the mask on. Your face, if revealed in battle, might just save your life. Also, beware of the Dual Cultivation Devil Cultivators within the sect!” Elder Jian said between bouts of laughter, waving his hand dismissively.
