Cultivation is just so scientific!

Chapter 310: Chapter 201: Goodbye_2

“You will first become an Inner Sect Disciple after your initiation, and cultivate diligently before competing for the position of a True Disciple!” Elder Su helped Li Shiming up and said.

Only then did Li Shiming clearly understand that Elder Su had accepted him as a disciple, not a Registered Disciple, which granted him the eligibility to compete for the status of a True Disciple.

Although there is only a slight difference in name between a disciple and a Registered Disciple, their status is completely different.

Being a Registered Disciple is merely an honor, and under the strict master-apprentice relationship in the Cultivation World, Registered Disciples cannot enjoy the meticulous instruction of a master, and they rarely even have the opportunity to see their master.

A disciple, on the other hand, will receive their master’s meticulous guidance and the best support in various aspects, such as resources, magic artifacts, and cultivation techniques.

A disciple is also a representative of their master’s identity to the outside world; the relationship benefits or harms both parties.

...
“You have three senior brothers and one senior sister; they are all outside right now. Your initiation requires some preparation. I will hold a discipleship ceremony, and at that time, I will invite a few friends to witness it,” Elder Su said with a smile.

With his injuries fully healed and having taken on Li Shiming, a disciple with profound fortune, he felt as if he was influenced by Li Shiming’s fortune, which left him especially joyful.

Moreover, the discipleship ceremony was not just for Li Shiming; it was also to show the cultivators both inside and outside his sect his condition.

Li Shiming returned to the same cave mansion he had been in before, where he could stay for a few more days before the official initiation.

As Elder Su’s health recovered, a series of events that had not been dealt with within the Shushan Sect began to unfold, including many cultivators related to Elder Ji’s faction being expelled from the Enforcement Team.

Participating in the assassination of a Golden Core Elder of the Shushan Sect was a crime serious enough to label those involved as traitors to the sect.

In the sect, being a traitor is a grave sin, punishable by death.

All this had nothing to do with Li Shiming, who spent his days in the cave mansion, cultivating the ‘Nine Heavens Thunder Strike Technique.’

It was only after talking with his master, Elder Su, that he truly realized how high the grade of the ‘Nine Heavens Thunder Strike Technique’ was, being among the top-tier primary cultivation techniques for Magic Cultivation.

Although the ‘Nine Heavens Thunder Strike Technique’ is comprehensive, the Shushan Sect did not have the corresponding Golden Core resources for it, so Elder Su hoped he would consider switching his cultivation focus.

Taking advantage of the fact that Li Shiming was only at the early-stage Foundation Establishment, the cost of switching would not be too great.

Of course, Elder Su did not force Li Shiming to choose but informed him of the pros and cons.

If Li Shiming wanted to change his primary cultivation technique, Elder Su could use his own contribution points to exchange for a primary inheritance technique of the same level as ‘Nine Heavens Thunder Strike Technique’ for him.

Elder Su was willing to make such a decision because the Mu Yang Three-leaf Clover brought by Li Shiming was a Third-grade Spiritual Medicine, which was extremely valuable.

With Elder Su’s status in the sect, he personally did not need contribution points to learn a primary inheritance technique, but to apply for one for his disciple required them.

You should know that such top-tier primary inheritance techniques are not even accessible to ordinary sect cultivators with contribution points; they are the sect’s most core techniques, enriched with annotations from countless predecessors in the sect, significantly reducing the difficulty of cultivation.

Yet, Li Shiming hesitated. He understood the importance of inheritance techniques, but he felt an extraordinary compatibility with the ‘Nine Heavens Thunder Strike Technique,’ a feeling of perfect fit.

He did not know if he would experience this same sense of compatibility with a different primary cultivation technique.

Besides, even if he switched to a sect’s primary inheritance technique now, it would only be the Foundation Establishment chapters; it wouldn’t be the complete text.

Only when he advanced to Golden Core would he be able to apply to the sect for the subsequent Golden Core chapters.

The feeling of not having full control over the cultivation technique he practiced made Li Shiming feel very uneasy.

Fortunately, he still had time to consider it slowly.

Li Shiming was indeed lucky; it was because the Mingxin Sect had entirely withdrawn from the Ten Thousand Great Mountains in Beishu that Golden Core Sword Cultivator Yun Xingyi could carry the full text of top-tier techniques with him, allowing Li Shiming to benefit significantly.

After ten days, as Li Shiming was in the midst of cultivating, he sensed a cultivator sending a message outside his cave mansion. He opened the cave mansion and could not help but show a look of surprise when he saw who had come.

“Brother Xu!” Although Li Shiming had already received news from Elder Su that Xu Chuan was still alive, the sheer delight was unmistakable upon truly seeing Xu Chuan appear before him.

“Brother Li, no, I should call you Junior Li now. Brother, thank you!” Xu Chuan bowed deeply to Li Shiming with utmost seriousness.

That day, he had been chased by a Four Clawed Flood Dragon Demon, barely escaped with his life through a life-saving treasure, but also sustained serious injuries.

Afterward, he recuperated in an underground cave for over two months before he began to regain some strength. Eager to recover, he hurried towards the rendezvous point.

Xu Chuan had thought that Li Shiming wouldn’t wait there and most likely would have left ahead of time.

It was understandable, after all, Li Shiming had only made him a promise, and there was no need to risk death for his mission.

What Xu Chuan didn’t expect was, that upon his arrival at the meeting point, he saw the target area in total disarray, still bearing the traces of a great battle even after a long time.

Hardly any trees stood intact, most of the vegetation was burned by Spiritual Fire, and even the rocks on the mountain had not been spared.

The ferocity of the battle was evident, and the battle scars indicated that the spirit beast guarding the Mu Yang Three-leaf Clover was definitely beyond the Foundation Establishment Stage.

That is to say, Li Shiming, to keep his promise to him, fought a battle with a Golden Core Demon.

He didn’t know whether Li Shiming had successfully obtained the Mu Yang Three-leaf Clover, but he didn’t have the strength left to search any other places.

The injuries he suffered were not the kind that could heal in a short time. Without sufficient combat strength, he found it hard to even survive in the Ten Thousand Great Mountains.

Xu Chuan didn’t linger, deciding to discuss everything after returning to Shushan Sect, hoping his brothers and sisters had made some gains.

When he got back to the sect and saw Elder Su, who had also recovered, and heard that Elder Su was preparing to take Li Shiming as a disciple, he didn’t care about his exhaustion and immediately went to find Li Shiming, needing to thank him in person.

“Brother Xu, you are too polite, there’s no need for such formalities between us!” Li Shiming said with a smile as he helped Xu Chuan up.

Now that he and Xu Chuan were brothers in the Cultivation World, this was regarded as close as real brothers.

“Right, there’s no need for thanks between us!” Xu Chuan also started to laugh.

As the two men exchanged jokes and entered the cave mansion, Li Shiming thought it was extremely luxurious for a Golden Core Cave Mansion, but he didn’t see any envy in Xu Chuan’s eyes.

It seemed that the Golden Core Cave Mansion wasn’t anything special to Xu Chuan, which made Li Shiming very curious. What did Xu Chuan’s cave mansion look like?

“Brother Xu, this cave mansion is my temporary residence. I wonder what the cave mansions are like once I officially join, can I choose one myself?” Li Shiming asked candidly.

“Haha, there’s no choosing, you’ll know when the time comes!” Xu Chuan laughed, not giving a direct answer.

Xu Chuan remembered his own embarrassment when he had received his cave mansion upon entry, how could he just spill the information to Li Shiming in advance? He also wanted to see Li Shiming’s reaction.

“Junior brother, what spirit beast was guarding the Mu Yang Three-leaf Clover?” Xu Chuan shifted the conversation back to the topic of snatching the Spiritual Medicine, extremely curious about how Li Shiming had managed to obtain the Spiritual Medicine from such a powerful spirit beast.

“I do not know much about spirit beasts, but it was a giant bear proficient in wielding flames!” Using Spiritual Power, Li Shiming sketched the image of the bear in the air, the impression was still vivid though days had passed.

“A Red Sun Bear Demon!” Xu Chuan exclaimed, almost jumping up, as even among the Third Grade Spiritual Beasts of the Ten Thousand Great Mountains, a Red Sun Bear Demon stood at the pinnacle.

“Not a demon, just short of a demon, one might say a half-step demon. If it was a full-fledged demon, I’m afraid I would have stayed there!” Li Shiming said with a wry smile.

“Is there a difference?” Xu Chuan asked, looking at Li Shiming as if he was seeing a monster.

Indeed, for Li Shiming at the early-stage Foundation Establishment, even clutching a bunch of talismans, against a half-step demon, especially one like the Red Sun Bear that embodied the essence of Supreme Yang, would still be an existence that could be effortlessly crushed.
