Cultivation is just so scientific!

Chapter 320: Chapter 206: Alchemy_2

Li Shiming cleaned the pill furnace with spirit water and reheated it using spirit charcoal, this time lowering the temperature.

Alchemy inheritance is just an operational guide, and the Cultivation World’s measurements of temperature are very vague, which makes alchemy without guidance merely a summary of repeated failures.

However, as long as he found a rough reference temperature through the process of refining the High-level Grain Avoidance Pill, these failures would be greatly reduced.

In fact, the alchemy inheritance jade scroll Elder Ma gave to Li Shiming was not meant for Li Shiming to figure out on his own, but rather a hint for him to seek guidance from Elder Ma.

Since Elder Ma had offered the alchemy inheritance as a gift, it implied he could guide Li Shiming in the basics of alchemy.

Li Shiming misunderstood, he really just took the alchemy inheritance jade scroll as a normal gift, wanting to become an alchemist with it.

...
With the issue of temperature resolved, he encountered the problem of sensing the transformation of Spirit Rice. With the aide of the “Green Willow Sensing Spirit Technique,” he could clearly detect the changes in the energy within the Spirit Rice, but again, the alchemy inheritance only provided vague guidelines, and practical applications still required solid data.

Yet again, one failure after another, the alchemy database established by IBMz15 grew with more reference data, and Li Shiming gained insights into refining the High-level Grain Avoidance Pill.

On his twenty-fifth attempt at alchemy, the “Green Willow Sensing Spirit Technique” enabled him to sense the transformation of Spirit Rice into a dense liquid of balanced Spiritual Power.

He tapped the pill furnace lightly seven times; this was the “Seven Finger Refining Pill Technique.”

Each tap on the pill furnace caused the dense liquid inside to tumble along the furnace walls, further concentrating the liquid.

On the seventh light tap, five rounded Elixir Pills flew out of the pill furnace.

Li Shiming captured the Elixir Pills with his Spiritual Thought; he picked up a High-level Grain Avoidance Pill to examine it.

Based on the appearance of the High-level Grain Avoidance Pill, it was an Intermediate First-grade Elixir; he then checked the other five, and they were all Intermediate First-grade Elixirs.

“Not bad, but where exactly is the deficiency?” His first attempt at producing actual pills had yielded Intermediate High-level Grain Avoidance Pills, which was considered an excellent outcome.

However, this was achieved with the support of the IBMz15 alchemy database, and even with this assistance, only Mid-grade Elixirs were produced, which left him unsatisfied.

He knew that he wouldn’t consume Mid-grade High-level Grain Avoidance Pills himself, as he hadn’t removed the impurities during their creation; he would rather eat Spirit Rice directly than consume such High-level Grain Avoidance Pills.

Once again, he repeated the refinement of the High-level Grain Avoidance Pill, this time smoothly with the support of the IBMz15 alchemy database.

After using the “Seven Finger Refining Pill Technique,” he obtained eight High-level Grain Avoidance Pills, one of which even achieved a High-level rating, the rest were Intermediate.

He looked up the records on IBMz15 and carefully analyzed the reasons behind producing a High-level High-level Grain Avoidance Pill.

On his third attempt at refining High-level Grain Avoidance Pills, he produced ten pills, all of which were High-level.

High-level High-level Grain Avoidance Pills were already the limit that alchemists could normally achieve; as for top-tier High-level Grain Avoidance Pills, those were the result of extremely special and uncontrollable circumstances.

Even Alchemy Masters couldn’t guarantee to produce top-tier quality High-level Grain Avoidance Pills; such top-tier quality entirely depended on quantity, with enough production of the same elixir, top-tier quality would manifest.

Li Shiming began to make efficient use of his time, he cut down the practice time of his major Cultivation Technique, “Nine Heavens Thunder Strike Technique,” to eight hours, using this main technique to replace sleep.

He devoted all the saved time to learning alchemy.

With a complete alchemy inheritance, a wealth of alchemical materials, and the data analysis from IBMz15, his alchemy skills continuously improved, and the number of errors decreased steadily.

After another month, he could now successfully refine the ‘Mingxin Nine Palace Pill,’ which was an auxiliary cultivation Elixir taken by late-stage Qi Refining Cultivators of the Mingxin Sect.

Moreover, the quality of the ‘Mingxin Nine Palace Pill’ was stabilized at a high level, and High-level First-grade Elixirs were still used for the cultivation aid of late-stage Qi Refining Cultivators, reaching the peak among First-grade Elixirs.

If he were to participate in the alchemist assessment, passing the Junior Alchemist assessment would be no problem.

Li Shiming changed the schedule on his end, which also affected Li Yuanba.

Li Yuanba was in seclusion as well, having completed the three tasks of the year, and nobody had anything to say about it.

After analyzing the pros and cons of the schedule, Li Shiming also initiated a new plan for his clone, Li Yuanba.

Li Yuanba began to take on tasks, and the assignments from the sect’s outer battle department were purely slaughter.

For Li Yuanba, a sword cultivator, this was the best opportunity to hone his skills, not to mention that he had Jiang Chen by his side to ensure his safety.

The Senluo Sect’s outer battle department had a plethora of tasks, many of which came from cultivators of destroyed sects, most of whom held grudges against the Senluo Sect.

Li Yuanba didn’t bother with what was right or wrong — in the Cultivation World, there were no rights and wrongs, just a struggle for interests.

The intelligence department of the Senluo Sect’s outer division was quite capable, providing clear locations for all tasks, eliminating the need for combatants to conduct their own investigations.

Li Yuanba started completing tasks once a week, a frequency that turned into a continuous string of tasks without rest.

In one month, he had completed four tasks, all of them first-grade, and killed four early-stage Foundation Establishment cultivators.

The spoils obtained from these four cultivators weren’t much, but they were significantly better than the profits from his secondary position.

He also realized why sword cultivators focused only on the sword and didn’t learn any secondary disciplines— the gains from slaughter were simply too substantial.

Of course, slaughter tasks were extremely dangerous; every Foundation Establishment cultivator in the Cultivation World had some tricks up their sleeve.

However, Li Yuanba was different. He trained with the “Sword Demon Secret Manual” and had consumed Monkey Wine, which greatly accelerated the progress of the “Sword Demon Secret Manual.”

His body’s defensive power alone was almost comparable to a spiritual artifact, not to mention Jiang Chen was his greatest support in times of danger.

Back on Li Shiming’s side, after he managed to produce a high-level “Mingxin Nine Palace Pill,” he could no longer improve his level in alchemy.

The reason was that he had no access to more advanced elixir recipes, which required contribution points to acquire, and the materials for the early-stage Foundation Establishment elixir recipes, especially the second-grade spiritual medicines, were also beyond his reach.

He thought of Uncle Ma; it seemed he had to pay a visit to Uncle Ma.

He picked some spiritual leaves from the spirit tea tree and roasted them in the mechanical space to make spiritual tea, which he then packaged in a jade box as a gift.

The second-grade spirit tea tree given by his senior sister was one of the few gifts he had that were worth presenting.

In addition, his ability to manipulate at the micron level in the mechanical space, coupled with his use of the “Green Willow Sensing Spirit Technique” to sense the changes in the spiritual energy of the tea, and the “Golden Sun Fire Control Technique” to manage the flames, resulted in a batch of spiritual tea of much higher quality than any of his previous attempts.

The greatest benefit of learning alchemy was the understanding of spiritual energy blending, which could be applied in many areas.

With the gift in hand, he flew on his sword from Sword Holding Peak towards Dan Ding Peak where Uncle Ma resided.

Outside Dan Ding Peak, he sent out a spell and then waited patiently outside.

“This lad is finally coming, let him wait a bit!” Elder Ma in Dan Ding Peak received Li Shiming’s spell and revealed a slight smile on his face.

After giving out a portion of his alchemy inheritance last time, Elder Ma had been waiting for Li Shiming’s visit.

Who knew that he would end up waiting for several months, and now, at last, Li Shiming had come.

“Wait!” Li Shiming received the response from Elder Ma, thinking that Elder Ma was busy with alchemy, so he could only wait outside Dan Ding Peak.

In Dan Ding Peak, Elder Ma held a book in his hands and leisurely read, not caring in the slightest if Li Shiming outside was anxious.
