My Youth Began With Him

Huo Mian: “My tastes changed. I don’t like seafood anymore.”

Su Yu: “Huh? I’m surprised.”

Su Yu hadn’t noticed when Huo Mian made these small changes in life, so he was caught by surprise when she told him that she didn’t like seafood.

Huo Mian: “It’s no big deal. Are you bringing me supper or not? If no, I won’t have supper tonight.”

Su Yu: “Of course. I’ll be there very soon. Wait for me.”

Su Yu didn’t live with Huo Mian and thus didn’t know the small details of her life, so he wasn’t as sensitive to these changes as Qin Chu.

Hearing that Huo Mian hadn’t had supper yet, Su Yu immediately went out in a racecar and bought pumpkin congee and shrimp dumplings as requested by Huo Mian; then he bought some hot milk tea and cakes, too. But he didn’t know that Huo Mian had no interest in the food; she was only interested in warm and fresh blood…

In the First Hospital.

Zhixin came into Huo Mian’s ward before Su Yu did. After all, with Bella and Yang Meirong both in the hospital, it was natural for Zhixin to know his sister was here, too.

He entered his sister’s ward with a bowl of millet and mung bean congee.

“Zhixin, what are you doing here?”

Huo Mian pretended to be glad to see him.

“My brother-in-law didn’t tell me about your accident. I heard it from the nurses that you’re here. I’m truly worried.”

Putting down the congee, he sat down beside her bed.

“Sis, are you in pain?”

She shook her head. “No. Don’t worry.”

“Our family has been facing bad luck lately. I’ll find a fortune teller and find out what is going on. Why did bad things happen to us one after another.?”

“What do you mean?”

Hearing Zhixin’s words, Huo Mian was curious.

After a few seconds of silence, Zhixin told her the truth, “At first, Bella was attacked and she’s still in a coma; then Dad disappeared; later, Mom had a heart attack and passed out. Now it’s you… I wonder if it’s my turn in a couple of days…”

“Nonsense. You’ll be fine.”

Huo Mian didn’t look surprised when she heard Zhixin’s words as if these things were no big deal to her.

After all, these people were not her real family and she just faked concern for them.

“Zhixin, how did Dad, no, Uncle Jing disappear? Your brother-in-law didn’t tell me such a big thing happened to our family.”

“He doesn’t want you to worry. After all, you’re still recovering.”

“When did Uncle Jing disappear? Whom did he see before he disappeared?” Huo Mian asked him.

“No one. My brother-in-law even asked Brother Gao Ran from the public security bureau to search for him, but they found no clues. Anyway, Dad had acted weirdly after he returned. Now that he’s gone again, the most devastated person is our mom. I’m worried about her.”

“It will pass. Don’t dwell on it,” Huo Mian comforted him.

Zhixin nodded and said, “Sis, you haven’t had supper yet. I bought you millet congee. I’ll feed you.”

“No. I don’t like millet congee.”

“But… You used to tell us that liquid food is the best food for sick people and the best liquid food is millet and mung bean congee. It removes toxins from the body.”

Zhixin looked at his sister in confusion…
