My Youth Began With Him

“You didn’t hear it wrong.”

“You want to hit Huo Mian with a car?” Rick repeated just to make sure that he had heard it right.

“Right.”

“Your wife?”

“Yes.”

“Why? Chu, are you crazy? She’s your wife!”

“I don’t want her dead or crippled. I just want her to suffer,” Qin Chu said expressionlessly.

“But why? Even if you two had a fight, you can’t do something like this…”

Rick knew Qin Chu loved Huo Mian so much that he’d die for her. But this man told him that he wanted someone to hit Huo Mian with a car.

It was unthinkable.

“Rick, I can’t say much about it now. I’ll explain it to you later. I need you to do me this favor. Since Mian knows my men, I want you to do it for me. You must find a guy with good driving skills to do it, but don’t kill her.”

“But accidents happen. What if we got her killed? I think you’d better find another way.”

“Don’t worry. She won’t die. I just want her to suffer.”

“But…” Rick didn’t dare to agree, thinking the request was very weird. What if Qin Chu regretted it when Huo Mian got seriously wounded? He’d be in big trouble.

Seeing Rick’s hesitation, Qin Chu looked him in the eye and said, “Rick, do you trust me?”

“I do.”

“Then do me this favor, okay?”

“Okay.”

Finally, Rick overcame his hesitation and agreed to do it.

Qin Chu told him the specific requirements and then went home.

Huo Mian was now used to sleeping alone.

She had moved to a new target. Ever since No 002 Jing De disappeared mysteriously, she felt she couldn’t stay in this place for long. Now that she couldn’t carry out her original plan, she had decided to seduce Su Yu and play him against Qin Chu. Anyway, she’d ruin Huo Mian’s reputation and turn her family upside down.

Under the dim lamplight, Huo Mian lay in her bed and sent a WeChat message to Su Yu.

Huo Mian: “Are you asleep?”

Su Yu instantly replied, “No.”

Huo Mian: “I can’t sleep. Can we chat?”

Su Yu: “Okay. Dr. Huo, what’s wrong? Can’t sleep?”

Huo Mian: “Yeah. I keep remembering the days when we were kidnapped in Yunnan.”

Su Yu: “Haha. You’re traumatized by the kidnapping?”

Huo Mian: “No. I was thinking maybe we shouldn’t have returned; what do you think if we stayed in the small village anonymously and lived as farmers?”

Su Yu: “Mian, did you drink?”

He felt that he was hallucinating Huo Mian talking in this way to him; it wasn’t supposed to happen.

He suspected Huo Mian had drunk wine due to her low spirits.

Huo Mian: “I didn’t drink. I’m sober.”

Su Yu: “But if we didn’t return, what would happen to Qin Chu? What would happen to Pudding and Little Bean?”

Huo Mian: “People are unhappy because of their concerns, which is why I wonder about the what ifs. After I came back, I found many things had changed between me and Qin Chu.”

Su Yu: “I don’t think so. When I had lunch with Qin Chu the other day, I felt he was his old self.”

Huo Mian: “He’s the same to you; but he treats me differently. I’ve begun to regret…”

Su Yu: “Regret what?”

Huo Mian: “I regret that I didn’t choose you.”

Su Yu: “Haha. Dr. Huo, don’t pull my leg. Please don’t play with this poor guy, okay?”

Huo Mian: “I’m not pulling your leg. Su Yu, I’ll ask you, do… you still… love me?”
