My Youth Began With Him

“Mian, did you tell the truth?”

Su Yu just couldn’t believe that in the few days after they returned, the incomparably intimate relationship between Qin Chu and Huo Mian had cooled down so much…

“How can I lie to you about this? Do you think I’d play prank on you with something like this?”

Looking at Huo Mian’s teary eyes, Su Yu felt bad again.

“Why? Why did you two end up like this?”

In fact, Su Yu was afraid to hear the answer.

Huo Mian looked at Su Yu silently for a while.

“I was puzzled at first. I thought he was busy or didn’t want to disturb my rest… Later, I was afraid he was suspicious that something happened between you and me when we were alone.”

“That’s impossible. Qin Chu isn’t that kind of person; besides, you were pregnant, and I’d never force myself on a pregnant woman no matter how desperate I was… That psycho Leila drugged me, but still I didn’t…”

Su Yu paused; if he continued, they’d be embarrassed.

“Yeah. So I ruled out this possibility, which left only one possibility. Qin Chu… is cold to me because I didn’t keep our baby safe…”

Hearing this sentence, Su Yu felt his head explode.

This was the thing he feared the most; it was why he had avoided Huo Mian for the last couple of days.

Now hearing it from Huo Mian’s mouth, Su Yu felt his chest explode like a bomb.

Seeing the strange look on his face, Huo Mian paused and asked, “Su Yu, are you okay?”

Su Yu’s eyes were red-rimmed when he looked up at Huo Mian. He said, “Mian, if I could reverse time and return to that day, I would be the one to grab the bomb from you and die with those bastards… Then I wouldn’t have to suffer like this. To be honest, after the baby was lost, you and Qin Chu were the most devastated, but you don’t know how I feel. I feel 100 times worse than you do. These words might sound false to your ears since I can’t change what happened, but if I could, I’d rather die in exchange for the baby’s safety.”

The big guy was reduced to a weeping child by Huo Mian’s words.

He had never done this before.

Probably realizing she was being cruel to him, Huo Mian changed her tone and comforted him gently, “Su Yu, I didn’t say it’s your fault. I don’t blame you. Please don’t say that. If I could do it again, I’d still choose to rescue you. I don’t regret my decision… I don’t care, Qin Chu doesn’t understand me… The important thing is that you understand me. Truly, I only care about your feelings now.”

Then she reached out and placed her hand on the back of Su Yu’s hand.

Instead of feeling warmth from her palm, he felt an icy chill…

Still, Su Yu was stunned by her act.

He trembled even though he knew she was doing it to comfort him.

What did Huo Mian mean by saying “I don’t care Qin Chu doesn’t understand me… The important thing is that you understand me. Truly, I only care about your feelings now”?

Why did she say that?

Su Yu’s brain went blank and couldn’t think, struck dumb by her words and behavior.

“Su Yu, if I get a divorce, will you still want me?”
