My Youth Began With Him

“Huh?”

At the sudden mention of Chen Yuning, Huo Mian looked surprised.

She searched her memories quickly and understood the question.

“Chen Yuning, that shameless homewrecker. You don’t remember her?” Zhu Lingling looked puzzled. Huo Mian had an excellent memory and wouldn’t forget something happening so recently.

She was surprised to see the blank look in Huo Mian’s eyes at the mention of Huo Yuning.

“Oh, that woman. I got rid of her.”

“Is she dead?”

“No. Don’t worry. I’m not that heartless. Anyway, she got what she deserved.”

“Thank you for the things you’ve done for me. You’re kind-hearted and have never dealt with anyone in person, but you got rid of her for me. I know it was difficult for you.”

Touched, Zhu Lingling caught Huo Mian’s hand to give her a hug.

But Huo Mian ducked her arms and lay back in bed.

“Lingling, I’m sorry, but I’m tired… I’ll go and talk to you when I feel better, okay?” Huo Mian asked her to leave subtly.

Zhu Lingling didn’t feel it was strange, knowing Huo Mian was still recovering from the trauma.

“Okay. Rest well. Boyuan and I will come and see you again when you feel better.”

“Okay.”

After Zhu Lingling left the room, Huo Mian drew out a tissue and wiped her hand in disgust.

At this moment, Qin Chu opened the door and entered the room.

He looked at Huo Mian who was wiping her hand.

“I got some dust on my hand. Our room hasn’t been dusted for a long time, right?” Huo Mian tried to explain her act of wiping her hand.

“No. It’s cleaned each day.” Qin Chu looked at her calmly.

“Really? Then I guess the servants got lazy when their master was not home. There’s dust in the corners… I think they must do a thorough cleaning soon. I’m a clean freak.”

“Okay. They’ll do as you say.”

Qin Chu didn’t say more about it.

During the night, Huo Mian changed into her pajamas and lay in bed.

“Hon, come and hug me…” Huo Mian reached out her hands and asked Qin Chu to hug her.

“Mian, go ahead and sleep. I have to deal with some business first. I’ll sleep later.”

“Can’t you spend some time with me before handling the business? Is it so important?”

“Of course not. I just want you to have some proper rest.”

“Fine. Go then. I’ll sleep alone.” They ended the conversation unhappily.

For some reason, Qin Chu felt unsettled.

He left the bedroom and saw Little Bean was playing with her cellphone in bed sleepily.

Pudding walked out of the room and bumped into her father.

“Daddy…”

“What’s up?”

“Mommy looks weird, probably because she just lost our baby brother.”

“Why do you think so?”

Qin Chu squatted down and asked in a low voice as if he was afraid someone would overhear their talk.

“I’m not sure. I think her expressions and eyes were sometimes not sincere… When she saw Aunt Lingling, her behavior wasn’t as intimate as before… I think she’s still in shock from what has happened. Maybe you should spend more time with her.”

Pudding had not only Qin Chu’s arrogance and aloofness but also Huo Mian’s sensitivity.

She had sensed something wasn’t right.

“Okay. Don’t worry. Daddy will handle it.”

“Can we visit Handsome Su tomorrow?” Pudding asked.

“Of course. He’ll be happy to see you.”

Qin Chu kissed his daughter’s eyelashes lovingly.

This night, Qin Chu didn’t finish his work until 2 AM in the early morning; not to disturb Huo Mian, he slept in the study.

On the next morning, An knocked on Su Yu’s door and found the room was empty.

“President Su?” terrified, An yelled.
