Child of Destiny

Chapter 346: Rematch (Part 3)

...…

Bang!

After forcing Owen to slide backwards, Shin immediately pulled his left arm backwards and retracted the blade of his whip-sword. And right after recalling the blade, he sent it forward once again.

When the blade reached Owen, Shin suddenly flicked his wrist and controlled the blade whip to circle around his opponent. After that, he immediately did a pulling motion while activating another skill of the sword.

ʼWeapon Skill (Whip Sword: Crippling Punisher): Dark Embraceʼ

Seeing the blade that was trying to wrap around him, Owen immediately raised his sword in the air while channeling a bunch of mana on it. And when the sword shone with a golden blinding light, it released powerful energy that suddenly transformed into a golden dome barrier that had a small radius.

ʼWeapon Skill (Longsword): Holy Light Protectionʼ

The blade of Shinʼs whip sword couldnʼt advance any longer when it tried to wrap around the golden dome. No matter how hard it tried, all it could do was to create some metallic sounds while wrapping around together with some metal sparks created by the friction.

Shin didnʼt care much about it even if this attack was somewhat ineffective. What he really intended to do was to force Owen to stay on a single spot before throwing his real attack.

While letting the [Crippling Punisher] continue to wrap around the golden barrier surrounding Owen, Shin was already changing a large amount of Eclipse Power on his other sword. And when the accumulation of powers reached its peak, he suddenly swung the [Yamato] forward and sent a powerful energy wave towards his opponent.

ʼSlayer Skill: (Modified) Eclipse Slashʼ

Zoom!

The powerful energy wave that had an alternating black and white color charged towards Owen in a very destructive manner. It was as if this energy wave was threatening to devour everything on its path.

And the moment Owen saw the incoming energy wave ahead of him, he couldnʼt help but clicked his tongue and muttered. ”Tch! Come on, bro. You are a swordsman; can you at least give me a rest of these things already? Why the heck did you have a larger number of wave attacks than your melee skills?”

Well, he already guessed that Shin might have a special class that was somewhat related to Magic Swordsman class. He just said all of those out of a whim and didnʼt mean it seriously.

Regardless, he still needed to respond with the incoming skill to protect himself. So, he immediately activated one of the lifesaving skills attached on his shield.

ʼWeapon Skill (Shield): Aegis of the Holy Lightʼ

Humm!

The round shield that Owen was holding suddenly started vibrating violently the moment he activated the skill. Then it suddenly released a golden light which was even more blinding than the light than his sword was releasing.

Aside from that, the shield also released a powerful energy that suddenly wrapped the golden barrier around him and reinforced its defensive capability.

Boom!

And that was when the energy wave sent by Shin finally arrived and collided with Owenʼs golden barrier. The collision created a very loud explosion that shook even the whole battle arena.

Owen gritted his teeth as he persevered to hold his ground against the continued pounding of the energy wave sent by Shin. The whole barrier surrounding him was shaking violently as it tried to withstood the powerful bombardment of the energy colliding with it.

Not long after, Owenʼs golden barrier finally collapsed but it still managed to get its job done at protecting Owen.

Owen took a sigh of relief after successfully blocking the powerful attack. But he didnʼt dare to lower his guard even for a little since he knew what kind of opponent he was fighting.

Given that, he was already looking over his shield before the mixed energy particles around him could even dissipate. He was getting ready for the next attack that Shin was going to take right after sending that energy wave.

But the pupils on his eyes suddenly contracted when the figure ahead of him suddenly flickered and started to fade away.

ʼAfterimage!ʼ Owen just thought about this when he suddenly heard the sound of metal cutting through the air right above him.

Shing!

Not having enough time to think about it, Owen immediately moved his body according to his instincts and quickly raised his shield over his head without having a slightest bit of hesitation. At the same time, he squatted his hips and strengthened his center of gravity while bracing himself for the incoming impact.

ʼKnight Skill: Blockʼ

Bang!

”Ugh!” Owen felt a very heavy force pressing against his shield when Shinʼs sword landed on it. His feet even sunk on the ground a little and created a pair of spider web cracks right after the collision.

On the other hand, Shin was frowning his eyebrows and thinking to himself. ʼThis guyʼs defense is really a tough nut to crack.ʼ

After that, he quickly used his right arm as a lever before doing a quick spin roll in the air.

At the same time, Owen quickly removed his shield from blocking his sight before thrusting his sword upwards. Unfortunately, his longsword failed to hit its target because Shin skillfully dodged it with his spin roll.

After dodging, Shin planned to use his spinning momentum to throw another falling slash at his opponent.

But Owen was seemingly able to read that and quickly retracted his right arm and hopped away from his current position.

Bang!

The blade of Shinʼs whip sword landed on the ground where Owen was previously standing and created a long scar on it.

Seeing that Owen dodged once again, Shin continued on spin on the air while readjusting his position. At the same time, the blade of the [Crippling Punisher] followed along his movements and revolved around his body in a spiral motion.

On the next instant, Shin used his spinning momentum and swung the [Crippling Punisher] and sent its blade whipping towards his fleeing opponent.

All of those happened when Owen was still hovering in the air due to his backward hop. And when his feet landed back on the ground, the blade of the [Crippling Punisher] was already whipping down at him.

Seeing that, he raised his shield for as fast as he could to block the whipping blade.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The whip blade repeatedly landed on Owenʼs shield a couple of times due to the spinning motion of Shin.

Shin continued to whip the blade of [Crippling Punisher] to force Owen to stay in place. And while he was doing that, he was also adjusting his position in the air so that he could land on the ground properly.

After his feet finally landed back on the ground, he immediately used another spinning motion to retract the blade of his whip sword for as fast as he could. And when the divided parts of the blade were finally attached together and made the [Crippling Punisher] go back to its basic sword form, Shin forcefully stopped his spinning motion.

Along with it, he also twisted his hips in the end of the spin so that he could absorb all of the momentum from his previous movements.

After a slight pause, Shin suddenly twisted his hips back while throwing a thrusting motion with his left-hand sword. With that, the blade of the [Crippling Punisher] extended once again and flew straight to Owenʼs direction.

ʼWeapon Skill (Whip Sword: Crippling Punisher): Shadow Impaleʼ

Swoosh!

The series of movements that Shin had did was too fast for anyone to react. Even Owenʼs talent couldnʼt follow his entire movements properly. Fortunately for the latter, he was still able to move his body to respond at the incoming attack.

He immediately placed his round shield in front of him, trying to block the incoming blade. Unfortunately, he didnʼt have enough time to strengthen his center of gravity for the incoming impact.

Bang!

And due to that, he was immediately sent flying right after the collision. ”Ugh!”

Seeing that, Shin quickly rushed forward while retracting the blade of the [Crippling Punisher]. And when the whip sword went back to its original form, he quickly released the ʼAbyssal Formʼ of the ʼMondiʼs Styleʼ and transformed his left-hand sword into another sword with a narrow blade and sharp edges.

ʼLegacy Skill: Mondiʼs Style: Conviction Formʼ

Holding the rapier on left hand, Shin suddenly accelerated forward while thrusting the new sword towards his front.

ʼExtra Skill: Sword Rush: Thrusting Dashʼ

Swoosh!

Shinʼs charge was quite fast as he shortened the distance between him and his flying opponent in an instant. But he was still in the middle of his charge when he suddenly saw Owen do a quick spin in the air before throwing the round shield towards his direction.

ʼKnight Skill: (Modified) Shield Throwʼ

Swoosh!

Seeing the incoming shield flying straight at him, Shin realized that he didnʼt have enough time to redirect his rapier toward it; this flying shield was going to hit him if he continued to charge forward.

Given that, Shin forcefully cancelled the ʼThrusting Dashʼ but he still maintained his forward movements. And before the flying shield could even hit him, he immediately spun his body around and barely dodged it in time.

But even if he successfully dodged the shield, his speed still suffered greatly. Fortunately, his ʼSword Rushʼ skill still had its second charge. So, right after dodging, Shin immediately accelerated forward while throwing a diagonal slash on his front.

ʼExtra Skill: Sword Rush: Slicing Dashʼ

Swoosh!

Owen naturally witnessed the series of movements that his opponent had done. And after seeing it, he couldnʼt help but smiled bitterly before mumbling. ”Come on~! Are you not running out of cool moves? All of those crazy maneuvers are going to make me f*cking jealous if this goes on.”

Regardless, his shield had already brought him enough time to land back on the ground. And right after regaining his footing, he immediately gripped his longsword very tightly.

After that, he took a forward step with his right foot before swinging his sword at his incoming opponent in a very powerful manner.

ʼExtra Skill: (Modified) Heavy Strikeʼ

BANG!
