Child of Destiny

Chapter 317: The Dark Side

...…

Real World, somewhere in the outskirts of the Soaring Continent, there was an isolated City with thick concrete walls surrounding it. The whole place seemed to be heavily guarded given that there were people walking on top of the city walls together with some groups of people roaming outside the city.

Beyond the walls of the city lies an advanced city which was too unusual given that this city was too isolated and stood in the middle of nowhere. At the same time, there was a majestic skyscraper standing at the very center of this city.

Ding!

The elevator inside the skyscraper suddenly stopped and opened its door when it reached the 59th floor, where a penthouse was located. Then a woman in formal suit walked out of the lift and went straight to the living room, where a man with a lean but muscular body was currently waiting.

When the man saw the woman, he immediately stood up from the sofa and said. ”You are finally here. How is the progress? Are the boys already cleaning up the mess?”

The woman stopped a few meters away from the man before giving her reply. ”Everything has already been cleaned up, Sir. We already silence the guys that needed to be silenced. We also cleaned all of the traces left behind at Michigan City to cut off the military from our trail.”

The man nodded his head for a moment before asking immediately after. ”What about Prof. Digenʼs personal assistant? Did you manage to find him?”

The woman shook her head and answered. ”That is where our current problems come from, Sir. We already did everything that we can just to find Nigel, but we are unable to locate him no matter what.”

She paused for a moment to take a look at the man before continuing. ”We suspect that he is hiding from us since he knows how our organization works or-… Maybe he got abducted by our rival organizations.”

Hearing that, the man suddenly started frowning. ”Either one of those is not a good news for us. Put more effort at finding his location as soon as possible. You can also dispatch the hunting team if you need to.”

”Yes, Sir!” answered the woman almost immediately.

Then the man suddenly asked after it. ”I heard that Digen was doing another experiment other than his main project? What happened on that one? And what about the kids that messed up our plans? Do you finally identify who they are?”

Then the woman hesitated for a moment the moment she heard about that. And when the guy saw that she was hesitating, he started to frown even more and asked. ”Whatʼs wrong? Is there a huge problem regarding this?”

Hearing that, the woman gritted her teeth before answering. ”Yes, Sir. We encountered some problems regarding it.”

”After our investigation, we locate the kid that Prof. Digen experimented on. Unfortunately, he canʼt get near him because he was taken by the ʼHundred Beast Joaquin Giovanniʼ as his personal disciple.”

The man pursed his lips a little before saying. ”Joaquin Giovanni, huh? He is really going to be troublesome. I rather fight the Warrior Sage of the Stuart Family than to exchange some blows with this guy.”

Then he continued after a slight pause. ”Fortunately, we also have a lunatic like him on our ranks. Let that guy with that matter. What about the other two?”

The woman took a look at her advance watch to check out some things before giving her reply. ”Those two kids that messed up our plans are even more troublesome. One of them is the famous Wanderer, David Solomon. He is the Super Genius Mentalist who wreaks havoc at the mid-tier underworld organizations of the Dark Continent.”

”Actually, dealing with him is not a problem given the strength of our organization. But based on what happened at the Dark Continent, our main problem will be his mysterious Master if ever we try touching him.”

”Every time a top-tier underworld organization tried to make a move on him, they were suddenly going to suffer some massive losses immediately after. Rumors say that his master is an old powerhouse who is at least in the peak of ʼVenerable Realmʼ if not someone in ʼExalted Realmʼ.”

(*Mentalist Cultivation Stages)

”So, if we are going to make our move against him, we need to make it a calculated one. After all, we canʼt afford to have any large losses given our current progress. Or at least, we need to leave the matter to our subordinate organizations.”

Reaching this point, the man couldnʼt help but smirk after hearing her words. ”Heh! Exalted Realm my *ss. Those old monsters who reach that realm already isolated themselves from the worldʼs matters, and too busy at seeking the truth about their realms.”

”Just try to test the waters for now and send some experts based on the battle prowess that he had. And if ever his master shows up, then I will deal with the matter personally.”

After that, he stretched his waist left and right before asking. ”What about the other kid? Donʼt tell you are also having the same problems with him.”

After a slight hesitation, the woman immediately replied. ”This one is even more problematic, Sir. The kid is under the wings of the Springfield Family. We are also suspecting him as the personal disciple of the Old Monster Plum. So, touching him is going to be even more troublesome.”

”Oh~!” the man suddenly got pique the moment he heard that. ”Now, this is a little more interesting.”

Then he started stroking his chin as he thought for a moment before saying. ”Given that that kid has some talent, he will surely choose a good school to learn from. Hmm… with this, there are only few schools that may pique his interest while the Magic Ace Academy and Top Military School are his top choices.”

After that, he looked at the woman before saying. ”From what I can remember, the new school years are about to start, right? Go send some of our young agents to mess with him for the upcoming entrance exams. And also tell them to end that kid if they manage to find a chance.”

The girl was suddenly taken aback the moment she heard that. Then she looked at the man and asked stutteringly. ”A-are you s-sure about t-that, Sir? That is the Springfield Family that we are talking about. I am not sure if we can afford to offend them now. We are currently at critical stages of our development, provoking them may affect our progress.”

The man suddenly started chuckling when he heard her concern and said. ”Springfield Family? Heh! You donʼt have to worry much about them.”

”Those guys may be housing some old monsters on their side. But through the span of time, they also made a lot of enemies along the way. And those guys are just waiting for a chance to make their moves against the Springfield Family.”

”So, even if we accidentally poke a hornet nest this time, those so-called Dragons of the Springfield Family will not act rashly even if we stir up some mess. Just set aside those worries for now and do as I say.”

The woman was still hesitating the moment she heard that, but she immediately nodded when she saw the man was glaring at him. ”Yes, Sir! I am going to arrange everything now!”

After that, she immediately started running back to the elevator to arrange all of the orders as soon as she could.

Meanwhile, the man just watched her back as she ran back at the lift until the elevator closed its door. Then he turned his head at the dark side of the room before saying. ”I already did everything that you wanted. Do you still have anything that you wanted to add?”

A moment later, a man covered with a black cloak suddenly walked out of the shadow. He lifted his head a little to look at the other man and said. ”That is all of it for now. I will inform you if the boss added something more.”

The other guy suddenly smirked the moment he heard that and said. ”Heh! Do you think that the Black Serpent Mafia is still the same as it used to be?”

”After the ʼDemon Fist Generalʼ and ʼMonster of the Eastʼ wrecked one of your main bases, the ʼShadow Allianceʼ is starting to lose some hope on you guys. So, you better clean up your own mess before you get kicked out of the Council.”

Hearing that, the hooded guy started chuckling before giving a reply. ”Donʼt worry, boss Snake Head said that everything is already in motion. We are just making sure that we donʼt have any moles this time to mess up with our plans.”

”Heh! You better be. Because you are not going to end in a good place if you mess up once again,” sneered the other guy.

After that, the hooded guy bid his farewell before going back to the shadows. And when the other guy made sure that the former really left his room, he finally sat back at the sofa before saying. ”Heh! Black Serpent Mafia, huh? I wonder if you guys can still stand after everything.”

...…

Meanwhile, the hooded walked out of the city secretly and went straight on the distant hills. On top of the hills stood another man waiting, and when the hooded guy finally arrived, he immediately asked. ”How was it?”

The newly arrived man quickly kneeled in front of the other and replied. ”They already agreed with everything and are making their moves.”

Hearing that, the other guy suddenly smirked and said. ”Is that so? Heh! I canʼt wait for what is going to happen next.”

Then he suddenly turned around and said. ”Letʼs go back to the base and report to the Boss that everything is already moving according to his plans,” while waving his hand.

After that, the hooded guy nodded his head and immediately followed after him.
