Child of Destiny

Chapter 328: The Bird of Death and the Wolf of the Beginning (Part 3)

...…

After a short time of pause, Shin and Liszt immediately launched themselves towards each other at the same time.

While running forward Shin sheathed his sword with one swift motion before channeling some power of the Silver Moon on it. And when he reached the ideal range to attack, he immediately pulled the [Yamato] out from its sheath before quickly swinging it right wards.

And right after swinging it, a silver sword wave was released from it, which also had some chilling aura from it.

Shing!

ʼClass Fighting Style: Lunar Flashʼ

Swoosh!

At the same time, the saber on Lisztʼs hand was blazing with a purple flame. And when he saw that Shin entered his attacking range, he immediately swung his saber forward and sent a powerful energy wave in purple color forward.

Swoosh!

ʼClass Fighting Style: Burning Slash of the Savage Wolfʼ

BOOM!

A powerful explosion was created the moment the powers collided. And as usual, a cloud of smoke was created at the point of collision and blocked the views of the two. But that didnʼt prevent Shin and Liszt from making their next moves.

Liszt created an energy barrier around him before sprinting forward. At the same time, the saber that he was holding on his right hand was suddenly set ablaze with even more powerful purple flames, which made it look even bigger.

ʼExtra Skill: (Modified) Dark Tideʼ

ʼExtra Skill: (Modified) Enchanted Shadow Swordʼ

Meanwhile, Shin enfolded the [Yamato] with a black flame before swinging it forward. And right after swinging it, a blazing crescent sword wave was sent flying towards his opponent.

ʼExtra Skill: (Modified) Flame Burstʼ

Swoosh!

The air accompanying this sword wave cut the cloud of smoke in half and revealed Liszt who was running straight into it. But despite seeing the incoming sword wave, Liszt continued to run towards Shin as if he was planning to slam himself at it.

Bang!

And as expected Liszt collided at the black sword wave as he ran towards Shin. But despite getting hit by it, he didnʼt suffer any kind of damage since he was being protected by the purple sphere barrier that he had created earlier. Though, that energy barrier was immediately shattered right after the collision.

Regardless of that, Liszt continued to run towards Shin without any intention of stopping. But due to that collision, his current speed was a little slower compared to the previous one that he initially had.

Naturally, Shin would take advantage of that and immediately channel the power of the Silver Moon on his sword before throwing a horizontal slash in the air and sending forth another crescent sword wave towards Liszt. But this time, it was not a blazing sword wave but a silver one with a chilling aura instead.

ʼSlayer Skill: (Modified) Half-Moon Slashʼ

On the other hand, Liszt swung his saber at the new incoming sword wave. And given that his saber was being enhanced by a purple flame, the power behind this strike was much stronger than an ordinary attack.

Bang!

Whoosh!

A thick steam was created due to the collision of the two opposing powers. And since this steam swallowed both Shin and Liszt, their figures were hidden from the sights of the audience one again. Moreover, they were also hidden from each otherʼs sights too.

At the same time, both of their senses were being messed up by the mixed hot and cold temperature that the steam had. But it didnʼt prevent the two from finding each other; the two of them simultaneously activated their respective sensing ability.

ʼExtra Skill: (Strengthened) Sensing Circleʼ

ʼWolfKin Racial Trait: (Enhanced) Wolfʼs Sensesʼ

Due to that, Shin and Liszt were able to spot their opponents at the same time. And right after locating each other, both of them planned to make their own moves.

But Shin was slightly faster as he quickly sheathed his sword and transformed himself into a streak of light before rushing towards Liszt with a great speed. And when he was about to reach his opponent., he suddenly pulled out the sheathed sword once again before swiftly swinging it.

ʼClass Fighting Style: Moonlight Splitterʼ

Since Liszt was a step slower than Shin, he was forced to defend himself instead of attacking his opponent like what he was originally planning. Given that, he immediately enfolded his sword with an even more powerful purple flame before swinging it at the incoming silver light.

ʼSelf-Created Skill (Personalized): Predatory Slashʼ

Bang!

The mist was cleared by the shockwave caused by collision of their weapons. But that only lasted for a moment because the shockwave rebounded from the walls of the canyon and created a cloud of dust that swallowed their figures once again.

The two maintained their respective postures as they endured the shockwaves that were assaulting them from every direction. They continued to stand still as they waited for the rebounding shockwaves to subdued.

And when the shockwaves stopped rebounding from the walls, the two of them immediately made their moves at the same time.

Shin forced Liszt to move backwards before flipping the [Yamato] with his right hand and held it in a reverse handgrip manner. After that, he quickly sheathed the sword in a single motion before pulling it again for as fast as he could.

While doing all of that, Shin was also taking a quick forward step with his left foot. And when he was pulling out the sword, he suddenly kicked the ground beneath him to launch himself towards his opponent.

Swoosh!

ʼClass Fighting Style: Quick Drawʼ

Shing!

On the other hand, Liszt hopped backwards and used the force behind Shinʼs push to further gain an additional distance away from his opponent. But before his feet could even land on the ground, Shin was already upon him and was currently in the middle of throwing a reverse-hand sword draw.

In this current predicament, it was not surprising if Liszt was unable to avoid getting hit by this incoming attack. But surprisingly, Shin failed to his opponent as the blade of his sword just passed through the body of his opponent.

”Huh!?” Shin was taken aback the moment he saw that his perfectly timed attack missed its target. ʼHow come? An escaping skill that leaves a phantom behind? But he is still in the air.ʼ

Shin was too confused at what had happened and made him unable to throw the follow up attack that he was planning to execute.

Ta-ta!

While he was thinking about those questions inside his head, Liszt who was in front of him finally got his feet back on the ground. And the moment he heard that landing sound, Shin became even more confused. ʼWhat the heck!?ʼ

Shin didnʼt have much time to dwell with those questions since Liszt was already thrusting his saber straight to his chest.

Seeing that, Shin quickly the sheath of his sword at the incoming saber and redirected its course.

At the same time, he used his previous motion to turn his body around while switching his grip on his sword into a forehand grip. Then he used his spinning motion to swing the [Yamato] at his opponentʼs waist.

Those actions were another series of flawless and smooth movements, but this attack was unable to hit his target once again; the blade of his sword just passed through Lisztʼs body for another time, which was very similar to what happened earlier.

At this point of time, Shin couldnʼt help but frown his eyebrows. And since he was aware that there was something wrong with the current situation, he decided to stop attacking for now before his opponent could even take advantage of the small windows made by the slight pauses on his movements.

Shin used the ʼMoonlight Stepsʼ to transform himself into a sliver streak of light before moving away from his opponent. But the moment he materialized ten meters away from his previous position, he was immediately greeted by a blazing saber which was descending towards his head.

Without further ado, Shin used another charge of the ʼMoonlight Stepsʼ to get away from his current predicament. And just like earlier, the blazing saber immediately greeted him the moment he materialized back on his physical form.

But this time, Shin was kind of expecting that so he was able to react in time. He enfolded his sword with a chilling silver frost before swinging it at the incoming saber.

ʼEpic Combat Technique: Moonlight Wieldingʼ

Bang!

Shinʼs sword was deflected backwards that moment it collided with the saber. But the same thing happened with the latter since Shin was still able to put some force behind his previous attack despite having a brief moment to attack.

After that, Shin forced his body to stay on his ground so that he would not get blown away by the force behind the previous attack. After that, he changed the form of the sword-sheath that he was holding with his left hand and transformed it into a longsword.

ʼLegacy Skills: Mondiʼs Form: Meteor Formʼ

And right after that, he immediately crossed both of his swords in front of him while squatting his hips to strengthen his center of gravity.

BANG!

Then another attack came from his opponent and collided with his crossed swords.

When Liszt saw that Shin was still able to block that continuous barrage of attacks, he couldnʼt help but grin even more widely before saying. ”Good going. You really are a worthy opponent.”

Then he paused for a moment before adding to his words. ”They called you the Bird of Death, but birds are meant for the sky and not on the ground so you better be careful. Especially since wolves are not easy to shake off when they started hunting.”

Hearing that, Shin couldnʼt help but smirked at his opponent and said. ”Heh! I donʼt know about that bird thingy. But if that is the case, then let me give you a simple warning too. You shouldnʼt underestimate the birds since they could also be dangerous.”

Then he took a quick pause as his eyes turned sharp while saying. ”Especially those birds who are trained to hunt.”
