Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1069: Chapter 374: The Battle and Fall of Bashang, Xiang Fuhai’s Despair and Hatred, the Five Grand Masters

”Bashang City will change hands today.”

”What’s this nonsense about the Nine Towns? In front of our Dajue Temple, they’re nothing but paper tigers!”

.........

The moment the city gate was breached, Dajue Temple’s morale soared once more, with everyone surging forward like they were on stimulants, relying on the golden light to protect them, they recklessly charged ahead.

Originally, they only occupied a width of 500 meters behind the city gate, but with this surge in morale, the soldiers flooded through like a tidal wave, quickly doubling the area they held.

Furthermore, they kept expanding.

Bashang City was completely breached...

”They’ve broken the city ahead of schedule!”

At the forefront of the battlefield, Yan Xin looked up at the sky, realizing there were only ten minutes left before dawn, a cruel smile flashed across his face.

The Master chose to attack the city two hours before dawn, and he could somewhat guess his intention.

To attack directly during the day, even though Bashang’s Earth-digging Realm couldn’t join the battle, they also couldn’t use Zen Gold Powder to enhance their physiques, giving them little battlefield advantage. Previously, they couldn’t breach Jiuchu Camp during the two daytime hours, and Bashang’s defenders dragged it into nighttime battles. Facing Bashang Town’s even sturdier defenses, trying to breach it in two hours was even more unrealistic.

And once they failed to breach the city during the day and were dragged into night battles, Bashang Town’s Earth-digging Realm would fully retaliate, putting Dajue Temple in a disadvantageous position.

By choosing to attack the city with two hours left before dawn, they could firstly leverage Zen Gold Powder to gain an advantage, and if they couldn’t breach in two hours, they could use Fire Melting Pills to continue fighting, while Bashang’s Earth-digging Realm would have to retreat entirely.

With this approach, breaching the city became almost inevitable.

The Master’s plan was meticulous, yet no one expected their combat power to be so astounding, managing to breach Bashang City during night instead of waiting for dawn.

”Shock Sky Pill is no longer needed, now just wait for daylight!”

Yan Xin killed a Bashang Cold Resistance Level soldier standing in his way, turn his head skyward as the chill of dawn began fading, his pupils revealing a manic glint.

The Dajue Temple’s troops had all slaughtered their way into the city, yet Bashang’s defenders continued to resist, and as more and more people realized dawn was soon, a wave of despair swiftly spread.

When dawn breaks, Earth-digging Realm must hide.

No one knew how many Bashang Cold Resistance Level soldiers remained, but it’s certain they couldn’t withstand the enemy.

”Three Masters, I would willingly surrender to Dajue Temple, just spare my brother’s life... no...”

Amid Xiang Fuhai’s pleas for mercy and roars of rage, everyone raised their heads and saw Army Chief Xiang Fan Yun beheaded by Hei Ming Master, despair spiking to its peak in their hearts.

”We can’t win, we can’t win, I surrender!”

”Killed, even Army Chief was killed, I surrender, I surrender.”

”Spare me, I want to live, I surrender too.”

.........

In the final moments before dawn, many of Earth-digging Realm couldn’t resist the internal dread. Seeing the ground full of corpses, they began to shout their surrender.

They had already felt the rapidly dropping temperature, continuing this fight, they would either be slain or freeze to death.

”I’d rather die than surrender, Lord, Wang Xin, I’ll follow you in the next life!”

”Even Army Chief died fighting, how could I shamelessly cling to life? Today, even in death, I’ll flay you demon monks.”

”Bashang natives fight to the death, no surrender!”

”Xiang lineage would rather die standing than live kneeling!”

......

Some chose survival at any cost, yet others sought honorable death.

Bashang had stood firm on Moao Mountain for many years; the number of die-hard loyalists wasn’t small, especially among the Xiang family descendants and high-ranking town nobility, their fierce fighting spirit in this moment was truly remarkable.

Unfortunately, their spirit moved no one.

Dajue Temple’s massacre continued.

Careful observation would reveal that even surrendered Earth-digging Realm hardly escaped slaughter; Zen Temple Bhikkhus clearly continued killing deliberately, others had turned red-eyed in a frenzy, no orders were given, and no one cared.

Bam......

Up in the air, after Xiang Fan Yun was beheaded by Hei Ming Master, Xiang Fuhai became thoroughly hysterical, wielding his silver staff, nearly exchanging life for life in entanglement with the three great masters.

Slash...

Hei Ming Master pierced his left shoulder with a sword; Xiang Fuhai didn’t retreat, but instead advanced, biting down with a shout of anger, lifting his staff directly toward Hei Ming Master’s head.

Bam!

The staff hit true, not only smashing Hei Ming Master into the ground but also dislodging his sword from Xiang Fuhai’s left shoulder.

Yet simultaneously, Yan Long Master’s scarlet long spear pierced his right shoulder; Vajra Master’s fist also landed on his back.

This was the result of his careful evasion, had he failed, the spear would’ve pierced his heart, and the fist struck his skull.

Xiang Fuhai’s right shoulder was first skewered by the spear, then further strained, his entire body slammed into the ground, a chunk of flesh and bone wrenched off his shoulder, revealing the silvery bones underneath.

Bam!

Slash......

Smashed into the ground, Xiang Fuhai spat considerable blood backwards, unable to stand, raised his gaze toward the three masters advancing in the sky, eyes filled with despair and resentment.

”Yang Zhun, Qin Feng, Shangguan Yang...”

Xiang Fuhai indeed had one path left; to surrender Bashang Town completely to Dajue Temple, but, as Lord of Bashang, the thought was hard to stomach.

Nonetheless, he had considered it.

Especially when Dajue Temple marched from Jiuchu Camp toward Bashang Town last month, he genuinely contemplated surrendering.

Unexpectedly, the Northern Three Towns Lords, Yang Zhun, Qin Feng, Shangguan Yang, came knocking.

The three promised their appearance and assistance should he lead Bashang in a fight to the death.

Despite their alluring assurance, Xiang Fuhai, over 130 years old, wasn’t naive and wouldn’t readily believe.

The key was their immediate threat after promising; should Bashang dare surrender to Dajue Temple, the Three Towns would jointly destroy him.

Thus, Xiang Fuhai was compelled to choose fighting to the death.

But realizing now, couldn’t he comprehend?

They played him; Yang Zhun and the others coaxed and intimidated him into fighting here to keep Dajue Temple’s main force occupied, making it easier for them to act against Dajue Temple’s base at Qinghepu.

Thinking of those who tricked him, Xiang Fuhai’s resentment nearly overflowed, but watching the three masters slowly approach, his hatred could only turn into despair.

”That’s enough!”

A soft voice rose beside his ear, making Xiang Fuhai’s expression suddenly freeze.

Apart from the three masters soaring toward him.

Two more individuals joined them.

Seeing the appearance of the two, Xiang Fuhai’s pupils contracted sharply.

The two also donned yellow robes, skin smooth as newborns, with two white brows hanging above their eyes, calm and serene. In attire and demeanor, they were identical to the three masters.

No, there was some difference.

The left older monk possessed glinting green pupils, having spoken earlier, now staring at him with tranquility.

All five great masters were in Bashang!

What were Yang Zhun and others doing at Qinghepu?

Thoughts flew through Xiang Fuhai’s mind, shocking him uncontrollably, his expression turning to panic.

”It’s daylight, distribute the Primordial Soul Pills, begin chanting the Rebirth Mantra!”
