Forcing Me to Be a Godly Tycoon, Right?

Chapter 1678: Chapter 625: The Toad Finally Ate Swan Meat!

Song Yunshan pouted. ”Then you have to keep your word?”

Zhang Jingdong swore out of habit. ”I promise!”

Only then did the clouds clear from Song Yunshan’s face. ”...Let’s go.”

Zhang Jingdong chuckled, then walked with her through a few dorm buildings and into the teaching area.

The whole teaching area was divided into three parts: the teaching building in the middle, the big field in front, and the small gardens on the left and right sides of the building.

Zhang Jingdong and Song Yunshan first went to the little garden on the Left side of the teaching building.

They called it a garden, but there weren’t many flowers—just a few jujube trees.

Looking at the tallest, thickest one, Zhang Jingdong said, ”By the way, you and I actually have a bit of history thanks to this jujube tree.”

”I remember it was in our first year of high school. The jujubes were already ripe, but since the tree was pretty tall, everyone could only use stones to knock them down.”

”Once, a boy threw a stone so hard it flew straight into the family compound and broke a window at one of the grade directors’ homes. He was punished, and after that no one dared use stones to hit the jujubes anymore.”

”But we were all greedy for snacks back then, and there really wasn’t much to eat. I just happened to be doing push-ups and pull-ups every day to improve my physicality for basketball, so my arms were really strong.”

”So I tried climbing the tree, and I actually managed to get up there. Then I shook down a whole bunch of jujubes, and kids from my class and yours all picked up loads of them.”

”I didn’t see you at the time, so I just told everyone to take them back and share with the class. Did you get to eat any of those jujubes?”

Song Yunshan nodded with a smile. ”Not only did I eat them, I even saw how heroic you looked up in the tree!”

”Back then, as soon as Liu Mengmeng got back to our class, she came in all excited and said, ’We’ve got jujubes to eat! Zhang Jingdong from Class Three climbed straight up the tree, he’s just like Sun Wukong!’”

”Then a bunch of girls from our class ran to the hallway windows to watch, and I went along with them.”

”Honestly, you really were like the Monkey King of Huaguo Mountain back then—so wild, so free, so unruly.”

Zhang Jingdong said easily, ”Couldn’t be helped. Studying was suffocating, and we didn’t have money to buy snacks. You’ve got to find some way to have fun, or life is just dull and lifeless.”

Zhang Jingdong looked around for a bit, and finally found a stone.

He stood up, walked over to pick it up, glanced up at the jujube tree, and casually tossed it. Seven or eight jujubes dropped straight down.

He picked out three that were relatively ripe, went over to the nearby tap to wash them, then came back and handed two to Song Yunshan. ”Try them. They’re not fully ripe yet, but they should still be pretty good.”

Song Yunshan took them, flicked off the water droplets, and then took a bite.

”Mm! Not bad, it’s the taste from back then!”

Zhang Jingdong nodded as well. ”Yeah! Just a little less sweet than before.”

After finishing the jujubes, Zhang Jingdong leaned back against the chair, feeling completely at ease, and tilted his head up to look at the sky through the gaps in the leaves.

Song Yunshan turned to look at him, then lifted her head to look at the sky as well. Somehow, she suddenly felt a kind of indefinable romance rising in her heart.

Maybe this was the kind of romance that belonged only to campus love.

After what felt like a long time, Zhang Jingdong suddenly sighed. ”When I was studying here, it always felt so boring. The pressure was huge, and life seemed to have no color at all.”

”But now that I’ve been away for just a year, I suddenly feel like those three years of studying here were actually pretty wonderful.”

”Like, I saw the most beautiful sunsets here, played the most passionate, blood-pumping basketball games, and threw myself into competing for rankings with over a thousand people in the most direct, hard-fought way. And most importantly... for those three years in this school, I got to see you every single day.”

Zhang Jingdong quietly took Song Yunshan’s hand. ”Before I met you, I never knew what Heartbeat felt like. That feeling is hard to put into words, but it’s so real, so beautiful.”

”Every time I saw you, I felt like my whole body was filled with strength. I was willing to do anything for you, as long as it could make you smile that sweet smile.”

”I swear I’m not lying at all. Back then, I dreamed of this exact scene countless times, but I never dared hope that what happened in my dreams would ever come true. Yet now... it actually has!”

”Shanshan, thank you for accepting my feelings for you, and thank you for your feelings for me. Because of this love with you, my life can feel this complete.”

Just now, when she felt that special kind of romance, Song Yunshan’s heart had already filled with joy. Now Zhang Jingdong poured fuel on the fire with this heartfelt confession, instantly igniting the flames of love inside her.

She paused a little, then, unusually unable to hold back her emotions, said, ”...I believe you. Actually, I feel the same way.”

”And back then, I... I also had dreams similar to yours. When I woke up, I was scared by myself. I didn’t even know why I’d have such dreams, because we weren’t together at the time, and I didn’t know what exactly my feelings for you counted as.”

”But I was absolutely sure that the person with me in the dream was you. We were walking around the track together, and we even went up to the rooftop of the teaching building...”

”And now... I’ve really seen that dream come true. So... Jingdong, thank you for being brave. I like you, but if you hadn’t taken the initiative to come closer to me, I probably wouldn’t have had the courage to be with you, and I wouldn’t be feeling this kind of happiness right now.”
