Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: The Truth Is About to Be Revealed

”Yes, yes, yes! Uh, I’ll arrange it right away!” Jordan Walton appeared composed, but on the inside, he was in a total panic. None of the three people here were to be trifled with: one was a lifesaver, one was the largest shareholder, and one was the Prescott Family’s heir. Offending any one of them would make his life a living hell.

By now, the students in the class had noticed that the principal had arrived, and Ethan Prescott was with him. A single thought began to bubble up in their minds: ’Could what Brooke York said be true? Did Chloe York really find a sugar daddy?’

”This is the first time I’ve seen all the big shots together in one place!”

”Do you think Chloe York really has a sugar daddy? Someone from the York family is here, the principal is here, and now even Campus Prince Prescott, her fiancé, is here too. It really seems like that’s what this is all about.”

”I’d say it’s pretty much a sure thing.”

Listening to the students’ chatter, Brooke York felt her resentment toward Clara Bell and Chloe York swell, even though she was getting the result she wanted. It was because *she* was the one who had to bring it up in the first place.

Her gaze fell on the group of people outside the window. ’I know why Miles York is here, but why did the principal and Ethan Prescott show up? What are they even talking about right now?’

’Did the principal see the post last night and have it deleted? Are they trying to resolve the issue now?’

’And what about Ethan Prescott? He must know about it too. He lectured me before, but now he should realize that I’m so much better than Chloe York!’

Just as she was thinking this, she saw the group walk away together, making the students even more excited.

”They’re leaving! They’re gone!”

”Are they going to the office to deal with it?”

”This is so exciting! I can’t believe we’re getting to watch all this drama unfold.”

Stella Winters watched the group leave, her heart filled with worry. ’Chloe’s living off-campus,’ she thought. ’I’m afraid they don’t have her best interests at heart and are just trying to frame her for having a sugar daddy. That’s just awful.’

Henry Ford was worried too. From his occasional interactions with her recently, he knew Chloe York wasn’t that kind of person.

Once the group had left, everyone went back to studying—reading, memorizing lessons, and doing practice problems. They no longer paid any attention to what had just happened, like NPCs who had completed their scripted event and were now free to go about their own business.

Before long, an announcement blared over the school’s PA system: ”Will all first, second, and third-year students please assemble on the main athletic field!”

”Will all first, second, and third-year students please assemble on the main athletic field.”

As soon as the announcement was heard, the school filled with groans of complaint.

”Why do we have to assemble on the field all of a sudden?”

”It’s not even second period yet. Don’t tell me they’re adding a morning run!”

”I don’t wanna run! Why does running even have to be a thing?!”

Despite their complaints, the students still trudged reluctantly toward the main athletic field.

When they reached a less crowded spot, Clara Bell grabbed Brooke York’s arm, pulling her onto a smaller path that also led to the athletic field.

”Brooke, please don’t be mad. I posted it right after you told me to last night. It was only up for a few seconds before it was deleted for no reason,” Clara Bell said, taking the initiative to apologize and explain what happened.

”If you saw it was deleted, why didn’t you message me immediately? I wouldn’t have blurted it out like that today if you had.” Brooke York’s tone was still incredibly sharp. She had been bottling up her anger, just waiting for Clara Bell to approach her so she could unleash it on her.

”You didn’t check the Confession Wall last night?”

”I didn’t look so I would seem genuinely surprised!” Brooke York didn’t admit that she had almost overslept that morning. Afraid of making a bad impression on the Yorks, she had just splashed some water on her face and rushed downstairs without even brushing her teeth. There had been no time to look at her phone.

And because of that, she had made such a huge mistake.

”I’m sorry, okay? It’s all my fault,” Clara Bell apologized, though her voice held a hint of frustration. It really had nothing to do with her, yet she was the one being forced to say sorry.

”It *was* your fault. The fact that someone deleted it right away means we’re up against someone. You should have told me the moment you found out.”

”You’re right, you’re right. So... can you forgive me now?”

Brooke York said nothing. She didn’t say she forgave her, but she didn’t say she wouldn’t either. In any case, the look on her face was frightful.

Clara Bell stopped in her tracks and looked at Brooke York, stubbornly waiting for an answer.

Brooke York stared back at Clara. ’Of course I don’t want to forgive her,’ she thought. ’It’s her fault I was so humiliated. Plus, judging from what Henry Ford said today, he was clearly trying to stir up suspicion and point the finger at me.’

’The things I said today were a complete own goal. I shot myself right in the foot. I wasn’t even supposed to be directly involved, but now I look like the mastermind. What was the point of having Clara post on the Confession Wall? I might as well have done it myself!’

’But,’ she considered, ’Clara is my only lackey right now. If we have a falling out, I won’t have anyone to do my dirty work anymore. I’ll have to do everything myself.’

”What choice do I have but to forgive you?” Brooke York said, her tone laced with a hint of arrogance.

”I knew you were the best, Brooke! I knew you’d forgive me.” Clara Bell said, happily linking her arm through Brooke York’s.

”From now on, if you notice anything off, you have to tell me right away. If I hadn’t been quick on my feet today, I would’ve been completely exposed.”

Clara Bell nodded but didn’t say anything else. ’Brooke is unbelievable,’ she thought. ’First she says she didn’t look at the post so she could act surprised, but then she claims she saw on the Confession Wall that Chloe had a sugar daddy. Isn’t that a total contradiction?!’

She thought back to what Stella Winters had said and, for the first time, found herself agreeing. Compared to Chloe York, Brooke York really was petty. She couldn’t hold a candle to Chloe.

On the main athletic field, the students were gathered in a large group. They could all see Chloe York and the others standing on the stage.

The homeroom teacher was also confused about the sudden assembly. But the moment he saw Miles York, he had a pretty good idea what it was about. He walked over to Brooke York and said, ”Brooke, your father has contributed so much to our school. And you, his daughter, are such an excellent student. I’m certain you’ll get into a fantastic university.”

Hearing her homeroom teacher suddenly say this, Brooke York subconsciously assumed he had just spoken with her father.

’So, Miles York must have donated a lot of money to the school again. And why? For Chloe, of course. Maybe this is about making Chloe drop out. At the same time, the school has decided to make me a priority student. They’ll definitely make sure I get into a top university.’

At this thought, Brooke York couldn’t suppress her joy.

”Thank you for the compliment, sir.”

The homeroom teacher nodded and said no more. Other students who saw this exchange began whispering among themselves.

A smile tugged at the corners of Brooke York’s mouth, impossible to suppress. As she saw the students around her putting their heads together and whispering, she was certain they were all talking about how much they envied her.

”Quiet down, students,” the principal began. The chatter gradually subsided until there was silence.

”I’ve called you all to the athletic field today to discuss a serious matter,” Jordan Walton said, his tone grave. ”A matter of integrity and personal character.”
