Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Chloe York Is Mocked

”That’s right. Your top priority right now is studying, not messing around with this stuff day in and day out!”

Chloe York finished speaking and left with her tray. ’Day in and day out, all they care about is this sappy romance stuff,’ she thought. ’They’re so young, yet they’re not learning anything worthwhile.’ Stella Winters followed, eating from her tray as she walked.

”Was that really Chloe York just now? That was so cool, and she made a lot of sense!”

”What sense? She talks all self-righteous now, but who was the one obsessed with love, clinging to Campus Prince Prescott every single day? She only sees that both Campus Prince Prescott and Evan Shaw are interested in her now, so she’s saying things like that on purpose to get more of their attention.”

”Exactly! Her own grades are a disaster because she was so busy chasing Ethan Prescott. How dare she lecture anyone else.”

Now that they were gone, Evan Shaw lost his appetite and picked up his tray to leave.

”Evan Shaw, I’m warning you. Stay away from Chloe York.”

”What’s this? Don’t tell me you’ve suddenly realized you like Chloe York and want to fulfill your marriage contract with her. Don’t forget, the one standing next to you is your real fiancée.”

Evan Shaw’s words seemed to jolt Ethan Prescott. Brooke York was still standing right beside him. Fearing she might misunderstand, he quickly explained, ”Brooke, don’t get the wrong idea. Chloe York and I grew up together, after all. Evan Shaw is not a good person, and I can’t just stand by and watch him use her.”

”Ethan, you don’t have to explain. I understand. No matter what, Chloe is my sister now, in a way. I don’t want to see her get used either.”

On the surface, Brooke York appeared understanding, but inside, she was furious. ’Why did Chloe York suddenly start changing? And more importantly, why is Ethan starting to care about her? If this keeps up, it’s definitely not going to end well for me.’

Evan Shaw, who had been standing to the side, just smiled, said nothing, and left with his tray.

The two afternoon periods were both math. Math class was the type where if you missed a single step, you’d be completely lost. That’s why she had to give it her full attention.

Just as she was listening to the math teacher lecture animatedly at the front, sending spit flying and chalk dust filling the air, the Scholar System’s voice rang out.

Scholar System: [Host, raise your hand once. Reward: Memory Value +5, Wisdom value +5.]

’Raise my hand? But if I raise my hand, I’ll have to go up and solve the problem. With my brain right now, how could I possibly solve the problem on the board?’

As if it knew what Chloe York was worried about, the Scholar System spoke again.

Scholar System: [Don’t worry, Host. I will reward you with a one-minute Wisdom boost. During this minute, you can solve all sorts of complex problems using the simplest calculation methods.]

At that moment, the math teacher had already written a problem on the board and was looking for students to solve it. ”I’d like to ask two students to come up and solve this problem.”

’You should’ve said so earlier,’ Chloe York thought as she quickly raised her hand.

Scholar System: [Congratulations, Host, for completing the mission. Memory Value +5, Wisdom value +5.]

Seeing Chloe York raise her hand, the math teacher’s eyes lit up. After all, Chloe York was the least engaged and lowest-scoring student in the entire class. He never imagined that this student would one day voluntarily raise her hand in his class. He absolutely had to call on her. ”Chloe York, please come up and solve this problem.”

As soon as he said that, the whole class burst out laughing.

”Teacher, there’s no way Chloe York can solve that!”

”Yeah! Teacher, even we find this problem difficult.”

”Teacher, are you just getting desperate because nobody else raised their hand? You’re even calling on Chloe York.”

The students all started jeering, finding it hilarious that the math teacher would actually call Chloe York to the board.

The math teacher adjusted his glasses. ”You can’t say that. As long as a student is willing to improve, we must give them a chance. What’s more, Chloe York raised her hand herself, so I have even more reason to give her this opportunity.”

Clara Bell’s eyes darted around, a mischievous thought striking her. ”Maybe Chloe York didn’t raise her hand to answer the question. She probably needs to use the restroom! Teacher, you shouldn’t make her hold it in!”

Hearing Clara Bell’s words, the class erupted in laughter and joined in. ”Chloe York, if you need to go to the bathroom, you’d better tell the teacher now. Otherwise, you’ll have to solve the problem instead!”

”You go to the restroom for that, not the front of the class!”

The students chimed in one after another, as if afraid to miss their chance to mock her. It was clear how much they despised the original Chloe and how eager they were to curry favor with Brooke York.

Brooke York shot Chloe York a look of feigned concern, but the joy hidden deep in her eyes still betrayed her true feelings.

’Is Chloe York pitiful? No, not as pitiful as I was back then. I’m just putting things back where they belong, making Chloe York experience the same suffering I went through.’

The math teacher suddenly realized it too. Chloe York had never been one to study. The idea of her raising her hand to answer a question was a bit fantastical. She probably did just need to use the restroom. If so, he had made a huge blunder.

Still, the math teacher asked, ”Chloe York, are you coming up to solve the problem, or do you need to use the restroom?”

”Of course I’m here to solve the problem. Why would I be thinking about the restroom if I didn’t have to go? The person who brought it up must be the one who’s about to burst and is just projecting onto me!”

Clara Bell hadn’t expected Chloe York to talk back. She snorted. ”This is a math problem, not literature. You can memorize answers for literature, but this problem isn’t that easy to solve.”

”Don’t tell me you think your grades will improve just because you memorized a book?”

Chloe York remained unfazed by the students’ taunts. The original Chloe had been dealing with this ever since she was exposed as the fake young miss. She would always get angry and curse back, which only made them mock her more.

But who was she now? An adult who had gone to college and worked for several years. ’Why would I care about this childish squabbling?’ ”I haven’t even gone up yet. How can you be so sure I can’t do it?”

”Do you guys have to be so condescending? Just wait until Chloe solves it. That’ll show you!” Stella Winters stood up and spoke out for Chloe York. She knew full well what her friend’s academic abilities were, but seeing the other students disbelieve and mock Chloe, she still stood up for her.

Stella Winters leaned close to Chloe York and whispered, ”Don’t be scared. If you get embarrassed, I’ll be embarrassed with you.”

Chloe York looked at the girl defending her and found it a little amusing. ’This silly girl. She knows exactly how capable the original Chloe was, yet she still believes in me unconditionally.’

”Don’t worry,” Chloe said. ”I won’t embarrass myself.”

”Teacher, I’ll go! Chloe and I are sisters. If she can’t solve it, we can figure out how to solve the problem together.” Brooke York also raised her hand.

The math teacher nodded. ”Alright. Then you and Chloe York can come up and solve it together.”

”There’s no way Chloe York can solve it. Brooke will probably be the one who figures it out.”

”Brooke is just too nice. She’s the real young miss of the York Family, after all.”

She walked up to the blackboard, picked up a piece of chalk, and stared at the problem. She could figure out the first step, but after that, she was stuck.
