Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Saving a Child

Everyone looked around. Several people were holding children, so who could tell which one was the child trafficker?

Godly Rich System: [Host, you will be rewarded with 1,500 yuan for rescuing the child from the trafficker. The trafficker is wearing a black trench coat and is now running toward the fish stall.]

Following the Godly Rich System’s directions, Chloe York zeroed in on the child trafficker.

The mother of the missing child recognized the trafficker at that moment. ”It’s him! The one in black! He was just standing right next to me!”

However, due to the distance, the people closer to the trafficker didn’t hear her clearly. By the time the people beside the mother started to give chase, the trafficker had realized he was exposed and bolted.

Just in the nick of time, a figure appeared, moving like a gust of wind toward the man running with the child.

She caught up to the man, blocking his path. Before his terrified eyes, she snatched the child from his arms and simultaneously kicked him. The man crumpled to the ground, his face contorted in pain.

A few helpful men rushed over to restrain the trafficker. The mother caught up and quickly took her child back.

”My baby, my baby!” The woman clutched her child, a torrent of tears and snot streaming down her face in the aftermath of her terror.

Watching the woman clutch her child, Chloe York wiggled her fingers and flexed her legs. ’I can’t believe I ran that fast, and that I’m so strong.’

Godly Rich System: [Congratulations, Host, for completing the ”Rescue Child from Trafficker” mission. Reward: 1,500 yuan.]

’The Godly Rich System is just piggybacking,’ she thought. ’The Physical System gives me abilities that I can use to do good deeds, and doing good deeds gets me rewards from the Godly Rich System. It’s a perfect loop.’

”Young lady, thank you so much!” The woman set her child down and grabbed Chloe York’s hands, her face flush with emotion. Just moments ago, she had been plunged into the depths of despair. She and her husband had spent half their lives trying to have this child; if the girl in front of her hadn’t saved him, she wouldn’t have been able to go on living.

The surrounding crowd saw that the hero was a young girl, a student no less. A round of enthusiastic applause broke out as many people started taking photos and recording videos.

”She’s amazing, and just a student!”

”I saw her run just now—she was so fast! A child is a family’s whole world. She saved an entire family!”

”This girl is going to be someone incredible when she grows up. She’s the pride of our country!”

As the praise flowed from the bystanders, they all held up their phones, seemingly editing captions on the fly to post their videos online.

”You’re welcome. The important thing is that he’s okay.” Facing the flood of praise and the woman’s grateful expression, Chloe York felt a little embarrassed. ’If it weren’t for the System, I wouldn’t have been able to pinpoint the trafficker, run so fast, or take him down with a single kick.’

”Sunny, hurry and thank the young lady!” the woman urged her son.

”Thank you, Miss.” Sunny looked to be only three or four, and his voice was still childishly sweet, his words soft and mumbled. But he seemed to understand that Chloe York had just saved him, and he gazed up at her with big, sparkling eyes.

”You’re welcome!” Chloe York patted Sunny’s head, then suddenly realized something. ”I’m going to be late for school! I have to go now.”

She was so fast that the woman only caught a glimpse of a name on her school ID as it flashed by. She thought she saw the surname ”York,” but the first name—a simple-looking one—was just a blur.

Adrian Kane and his driver, who had witnessed the entire rescue, were stunned. ’She’s that fast? With that kind of speed, she could win any race in a heartbeat!’

”What a kind girl,” Adrian Kane murmured, looking at the bustling crowd.

Despite her speed, there was still some distance to cover. By the time she reached the school, morning reading had already begun, and she had the honor of being late.

The moment she stepped through the classroom door, the sound of reading sputtered to a halt. Every student turned to look at the entrance. The homeroom teacher was personally supervising morning reading today, and her voice dripped with sarcasm the instant she saw Chloe York.

”Some people just don’t know their own limits. How can someone who’s late for morning reading possibly expect their grades to improve?”

Hearing the homeroom teacher’s sarcastic remarks directed at Chloe York, Brooke York’s lips curled into a smug smile. Just last night, she and Alice Cole had plotted to teach Chloe a lesson.

’Chloe York’s living expenses came from the York Family,’ she recalled. ’But ever since they found out she was the fake heiress, Alice Cole and the others had cut her off completely. She must be flat broke.’

’That’s why this morning, she and Alice Cole had deliberately taken Miles York out for dim sum, telling the staff not to prepare any breakfast at home. Chloe York must have skipped breakfast, leaving her with no energy to get to school. And now, just as planned, she was late.’

Pretending she hadn’t heard a thing, Chloe York walked to her seat, dropped her bag, and pulled out a textbook.

Seeing that the students had all stopped reading, the homeroom teacher slammed a book on her desk. ”What are you stopping for?” she barked. ”Don’t feel like reading anymore? Do I really have to babysit you all during morning reading? The second I’m not here, you’re late, you don’t study. Are you reading for me?”

At the teacher’s outburst, everyone quickly turned their eyes back to their textbooks, and the drone of reading resumed.

Hiding behind her textbook, Stella Winters whispered to Chloe York, ”That old witch is on the warpath this morning. It’s like she ate gunpowder for breakfast.”

Chloe York, also shielding her face with a book, whispered back, ”Old witches don’t eat breakfast. They just eat gunpowder.”

Stella Winters giggled. She pulled a bag of potato chips from her desk and, under the cover of the class’s reading, began to chew loudly. CRUNCH. CRUNCH.

Scholar System: [Host, read the textbook aloud for five minutes. Reward: Wisdom +5, Memory +5.]

Upon hearing this, Chloe York began to read aloud with focus and volume, her voice nearly drowning out the rest of the class.

Many students glanced at Chloe York as they read, wondering if the teacher’s insults had gotten to her.

The homeroom teacher watched Chloe York’s earnest and loud reading with disdain. ’She’s just putting on a show,’ the teacher thought. ’Her mouth can move, sure, but I bet not a single word is actually sinking into that brain of hers.’

「In the principal’s office」

Principal Jordan Walton was both surprised and delighted to see his wife appear with their son. He rushed to scoop the boy into his arms.

”Sunny, did you miss your daddy!”

”Jordan Walton, I have to tell you—our son was almost kidnapped by a trafficker today.”

”What?!” Hearing that his son had nearly been abducted, Jordan Walton hurriedly checked Sunny over. ”Sunny, are you hurt anywhere?”

”He’s fine. It was all thanks to one of your students who saved him. If not for her... I don’t think either of us could have gone on living.” Holly Hughes shivered with lingering fear at the thought.

”A student from my school? What’s her name? I have to thank her in person.”

”I didn’t get a chance to ask her name. She ran off because she was late for school. I think her last name was York. Are there many students named York at your school?”

”’York?’” Jordan Walton thought for a moment. ”There are only two students with that name at the school—the real and fake heiresses of the York Family I told you about. As for which one it was, that’s hard to say.”

”What’s so hard to say about it? It must have been the real heiress. Didn’t you tell me the fake one has a bad character? The girl I saw today was nothing like the ’fake heiress’ you described.”
