Doctor Reborn as a Peasant Girl? Time to Get Rich

Chapter 181: Chapter 173: I Can Cure It

Bai Zhi was furious. What she hated most was when patients gave up on themselves.

She stormed right up to Meng Nan’s door, kicked it open, and barged inside without even taking off her shoes.

Meng Nan, who had been sitting by the bed in a daze, saw her burst in and simply flopped onto the bed, turning his back to her.

Bai Zhi strode to the bedside. Looking at Meng Nan’s back, she was seething. ”Lord Meng, what is this? Are you blaming me for taking you to Luoying Mountain, for getting you so badly hurt?”

Meng Nan quickly sat up, his haggard expression heart-wrenching to behold. He shook his head. ”No, I don’t blame you. This has nothing to do with you.”

”If you’re not blaming me, then why refuse to see me?” Bai Zhi asked.

Meng Nan lowered his gaze, hiding the anguish in his eyes. ”I just... didn’t know what I would say to you.”

She wanted to yell at him, but seeing his state, she couldn’t bring herself to. Instead, she sighed, moved closer, and sat beside him. ”Give me your hand.”

Resigned, Meng Nan obediently extended his left hand.

A white bandage was wrapped around his left wrist, obscuring the wound.

She supported the back of Meng Nan’s hand with one hand and swiftly unwrapped the bandage with the other. When the gruesome wound was revealed, she still couldn’t help but flinch.

Just as she’d suspected, the tendon in his hand had been severed. A tiger’s bite force was astonishing; if Hu Feng and the Jin guard hadn’t arrived in time, his entire hand would have been bitten clean off.

Seeing Bai Zhi stare blankly at the wound, her expression shifting, the Jin guard grew anxious. ”Miss Bai, my lord’s injury... can it be healed?”

Meng Nan gave a bitter smile and looked up at the Jin guard. ”Don’t put her on the spot. When have you ever heard of a severed tendon being healed? It’s fine. It’s not like I’m crippled, I just can’t draw a bow anymore. At worst, I’ll just use a sword from now on. My right hand is still perfectly fine, isn’t it?” He directed that last part at Bai Zhi.

The Jin guard’s eyes reddened again. ”Can it really not be healed?” His lord’s martial arts, while not exactly first-rate, were the result of many years of training and more than enough for self-defense. But now, with this... his left hand was as good as useless. The consequences would be far greater than simply being unable to draw a bow.

Bai Zhi retied the bandage around Meng Nan’s wrist. ”I can heal it.”

The Jin guard froze, then his face lit up with joy. ”Really? You can really heal it?”

Meng Nan whipped his head around to look at Bai Zhi. ”What did you say? You can heal it?”

Bai Zhi nodded. ”I can. I’m just missing a few things. Once I have everything I need, I’m certain I can heal you.”

The Jin guard was so happy he nearly jumped up on the spot. ”What do you need? I’ll get it. I’ll get it!”

Bai Zhi shook her head. ”You wouldn’t be able to get them. I’ll handle it. Rest assured, leave this to me. I will definitely heal him.”

Meng Nan couldn’t believe his ears. A severed tendon could actually be healed? ”Do you really mean that?”

Bai Zhi glanced sideways at him. Though a flicker of worry crossed her clear, bright eyes, she kept a smile on her face. ”When have I ever lied to you?”

She had said she could heal his face, and she had.

Bai Zhi stood up, looking down at him from the foot of the bed. ”Brother Meng, pull yourself together. Never mind the fact that I’m confident I can heal your hand. Even if I truly couldn’t, would your life be ruined by a small wound like this? If so, then your life is truly pathetic.”

”You’re more fortunate and blessed than most people in this world. Just look at the people in our Huangtuo Village. Think of all the people who are starving, who don’t even have proper clothes to wear.”
