Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 1327: Chapter 1328: Life-and-Death Contract

Actually, rushing onto the stage at the Grammy Awards is quite common.

After all, unlike our domestic awards that only allow insiders, the Grammy’s venue is actually open to ticket buyers.

Plus, with the open-mindedness here in America, charging up to cause a scene is pretty normal.

The most famous instance I remember was previously when a male performer rushed onto the stage naked during another artist’s performance and danced for a full thirty-five seconds, or just over half a minute, before being chased off.

So, Henry also successfully rushed onto the stage.

”What are you doing? Please step down!” The host’s face immediately turned sour.

Come on, even if you’re rushing up, couldn’t you pick a better moment?

Lu Xiaobu hasn’t performed yet, and I’m still here. What are you going to do by rushing up now?

Henry ignored her, staring intently at Lu Xiaobu. ”Do you remember me?”

”Henry?” Lu Xiaobu laughed.

Indeed, he was just thinking about this matter earlier and here it is now.

Seeing as the two knew each other, the host stopped scolding Henry.

She wanted to see what Henry was up to.

”Good you remember. I want to ask you, what is the power of qi?” Henry said through gritted teeth.

”Haha.” Lu Xiaobu laughed.

The guy finally realized he’d been tricked.

”Stop laughing! Tell me! Were you deceiving me?!” Henry shouted hysterically.

He’d been totally fooled.

Initially, he wanted to seek revenge.

But at the moment he saw Lu Xiaobu, he couldn’t help asking this question!

He wanted to know if it was real or not!

Though he was almost certain, there was still a faint hope in his heart, that it was real!

”Yes and no.” Lu Xiaobu smirked.

”What do you mean?” Henry frowned.

”The power of qi does exist, but not everyone has it.” Lu Xiaobu shrugged.

He was telling the truth this time, since after all he had encountered the Jianghu and Grandmasters.

”Have you seen superpowers? I mean not the ones in movies or TV shows, but real superpowers.”

”For example, there’s someone who can use their abs to withstand missiles, and others who can attract Steel with their magnetic bodies, and so on.”

Lu Xiaobu, ignoring the fact that he was at the Grammy Awards, began explaining to Henry.

”I have indeed seen them.” Henry nodded, frowning.

He used to be the host of ’Henry Says’, so he had seen quite a few people with strange abilities.

Of course, some were fake, but there truly were real ones.

”That’s good. What we call qi can actually be understood as a kind of superpower, but it’s a superpower that can be trained and strengthened.”

Lu Xiaobu nodded, ”However, while it can be strengthened, not everyone can train it. Do you understand what I mean?”

”I understand, but... I...” Henry hesitated.

He’s asking himself now if he’s stupid?

Did he really get persuaded again?!

”Let’s do this, I’ll give you a chance. You probably came prepared for this, right? Use your preparation to verify what I said.” Lu Xiaobu laughed.

Then, he turned to the host, ”Anyway, I don’t know what to perform, so let’s take this as a performance, how about it?”

”Uh... okay.” The host thought for a while, pressed her earpiece, listened to the backstage voice, then nodded.

”Alright, if I lose, I’ll serve you for life!” Henry gritted his teeth, ”Tom, come on up.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a heavily muscled man, so much so it was a little disgusting, came up.

As soon as he was on stage, he started striking various poses and showing off his muscles.

What surprised Lu Xiaobu was that these poses could actually make many women in the audience scream.

Uh... the aesthetics of Americans are really unique, as long as it’s big, they don’t care about the looks...

”He’s a WWE wrestler, very strong. Scientifically, there’s no way you can withstand his attacks.”

Henry seriously said to Lu Xiaobu, ”If you withstand his attacks, then it really goes beyond science. Whether it’s the power of qi or not, I’ll believe it!”

”However, if you’re lying to me, I suggest you admit everything now, or else something bad might really happen.”

This was the only way he could think of.

Although WWE fakes a lot and is mostly performance, there are some wrestlers with real skills.

Tomson was one of them.

Henry spent all his savings to hire Thomson.

So he was betting everything on this.

There are only two outcomes: the first proving that qi is real, which would be worth it for him!

Second, Lu Xiaobu gets beaten, and he gets his revenge, then that’s also worth it!

”Sure.” Lu Xiaobu glanced at the muscle-bound man and nodded.

”Young Master?” Zhang Meng asked, wondering if he should step in.

”No need, I’ll handle it.” Lu Xiaobu waved his hand.

...

Soon, the Grammys’ stage was cleared, turning from an awards ceremony into a Battle Arena.

Thomson was still constantly showing off his muscles, not taking Lu Xiaobu seriously: ”Yellow monkey, I advise you to surrender; one punch from me, and you might die.”

”If I do kill him, is there any liability?” Lu Xiaobu asked Henry indifferently.

Killing intent had arisen.

”No, no need.” Henry quickly shook his head, killing? He didn’t want that.

”Yellow monkey, you’re quite arrogant? Kill me? I’m standing here, go ahead and try, hahahaha!” Thomson’s tone was full of provocation.

Such provocation is almost a professional habit; it’s common in fighting arenas.

After angering the opponent, they lose their composure, making them easier to defeat.

Of course, for Lu Xiaobu, whether Thomson was genuinely a racist or just purely provoking, it didn’t matter at all.

He got angry, plain and simple.

”Host, prepare a life-and-death contract for me,” Lu Xiaobu said to the host, tilting his head.

”Uh... oh, okay.” The host’s mouth twitched.

Signing a life-and-death contract?!

You really think you can defeat him and even kill him?!

But since Lu Xiaobu requested it, she had to comply.

Of course, she was also cautious, intending to remind Thomson not to actually go for the kill.

Thomson likely understood this as well.

Oh, by the way, it’s worth mentioning that in some states in America, a life-and-death contract for a private duel actually has legal meaning.

And the state they were currently in was one of them!

Soon, a life-and-death contract was brought up.

”Yellow monkey, are you seeking death?” Thomson was angered upon seeing the contract placed on the table.

Signing a life-and-death contract? What does this mean?!

Do you think you can kill me? Or are you implying I don’t dare to kill you?!

This yellow monkey is seriously courting death!

”Sign it.” Lu Xiaobu said coolly, ”I don’t joke with people who aren’t my friends.”

PS: There are only two updates today, feeling out of sorts and can’t write properly, sorry everyone!
