Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 654: Chapter 652: Infinite Confidence [Fourth Update]

Lu Xiaobu arrived at the club.

”Young Master Bu, you’re here.”

Upon seeing Lu Xiaobu, the coach quickly came up to greet him.

Lu Xiaobu nodded: ”Yeah, how’s everyone doing?”

”Well!” The coach chuckled bitterly: ”To be honest, not very good. If it were just a game competition, there wouldn’t be much difference between the global games and the national ones. However, suddenly there’s so much attention, and the players are a bit overwhelmed.”

He was truly torn between joy and worry.

Joy because Young Master Bu had accelerated the development of esports at an unprecedented rate.

From the Dark Age, to the Golden Age, and now to what can fully be described as the Diamond Era that has garnered nationwide attention — how long did that even take?

It can truly be said, without Young Master Bu, there would be none of them!

It was Young Master Bu who created them, lifting them from a time when everyone cursed them, even demonizing them, to today!

But as good as rapid progress is, it’s also bad!

Because they can’t keep up!

Young Master Bu is too formidable, advancing at a lightning pace, but their mental state clearly hasn’t caught up to such a level of public attention.

It’s like, well, Young Master Bu has already created the train, but all these drivers here only have the licenses for automatic compact cars. How are you supposed to drive?!

So, the players’ mental state has been really bad recently!

Too nervous, too excited!

He tried many methods to adjust their state, but none worked.

If they go into the global games with this mindset, the result is all too predictable!

”Okay, I’ll go have a look.”

Lu Xiaobu shrugged, showing understanding.

Arriving at the club, on the surface, it looked much like it did the last time he came, with every player engrossed in intense training!

But, the training this time was far from the same as the last.

This time, the training was full of flaws, with frequent mistakes—it was so bad that even Lu Xiaobu, a novice, couldn’t bear to watch!

”What are you all doing!”

Lu Xiaobu reprimanded loudly.

Instantly, all the players’ attention was drawn to him as they looked towards Lu Xiaobu.

”Young Master Bu!”

The players exclaimed in surprise, but quickly hung their heads one by one.

They too knew the sorry state of their training.

”Tell me, what are you afraid of? Scared of little devils? Or scared of stick-wielding foes?”

Lu Xiaobu stepped forward and chastised.

”We... we’re not scared!”

One player retorted unconvinced.

They really weren’t scared!

It was just nerves!

”Not scared?! How is it that I see each of you has turned into a coward?! Can’t even replenish your ranks properly?”

Lu Xiaobu snorted with sarcasm!

”We really aren’t scared!”

Hearing Lu Xiaobu’s words, the players became even more defensive: ”We are not afraid of them, we just fear letting everyone down!”

”Still saying you’re not afraid! Isn’t that being scared! You’re warriors, warriors who go to battle, your eyes should only see the enemy, and nothing else should concern you!” Lu Xiaobu said sternly.

”We know that, but...”

The players spoke with faces full of worry.

This sort of thing isn’t simply solved by saying ’don’t be nervous.’

The thought of the entire nation’s gaze fixed upon them, becoming villains of history should they lose, they really couldn’t help feeling tense!

”Are you afraid of losing?”

Lu Xiaobu looked at the players, stroking his chin.

It seemed that normal methods wouldn’t do to improve their spirits!

”Yes!”

The players exchanged glances and nodded reluctantly while smiling bitterly.

”Alright then, come with me.”

Lu Xiaobu nodded, having a good idea in mind.

”Where to?”

The players were stunned.

”To play a match, of course.”

Lu Xiaobu shrugged and said.

”It’s no use, we play practice matches every day, it really doesn’t help.”

The players disagreed with this idea.

”This isn’t just any match, it’s one broadcasted live online in front of all the people of the country, to let you feel the pressure in advance!”

Lu Xiaobu said with a smile.

”This... can it really work?”

The players expressed their doubts.

The coach was also frowning.

His instincts told him it wouldn’t work.

After all, these players had competed in national competitions; national competitions already have enough attention!

They’re still just as nervous now.

What difference would playing another match make?

”This isn’t just any match, your teammate is me!”

Lu Xiaobu said with a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth: ”What’s wrong with losing? Lose twice and you’ll get used to it! I can confidently say that with me on board, even if it’s the world champion, I can make you lose!”

Ah, endless confidence!

”Uh...”

The corners of his teammates’ mouths were twitching like crazy!

What the heck, Young Master Bu, why are you so proud of your ability to mess things up?!

We really can’t understand it!

Shouldn’t normal people be more confident the higher their rank?

To put it bluntly, you’re a newbie, where does your confidence come from?!

And you claim you can make the world champions lose?!

You really dare to say that!

”Alright, alright, let’s go,”

Lu Xiaobu, overflowing with confidence, walked off with great strides.

The teammates looked at each other, grudgingly following behind!

...

”Sister Lan, promote this heavily. say I’m going to compete with our champions, broadcast it live online, oh and have Shimen TV Station broadcast it too!” Lu Xiaobu said to Liang Lan.

”Uh...” Upon hearing Lu Xiaobu’s words, Liang Lan’s mouth twitched: ”Well, Young Master, can’t we just play quietly?!”

Sister Lan knew Young Master’s skills, to be honest, he wasn’t even as good as her, it was really just fooling around!

And now he wanted to live stream?

And drag the champion team along?

Young Master, are we looking for a scolding in every way possible?!

”Hurry up!”

Lu Xiaobu gestured with his hand.

He really couldn’t be bothered to explain again!

”Alright.”

Liang Lan sighed, speaking reluctantly.

She really didn’t know what kind of trick Young Master was up to this time.

Liang Lan went to arrange it.

Due to the buzz around the global competition, the news of Lu Xiaobu and the national champions having a match spread all over the internet in an instant.

”Goodness! Young Master Bu is playing in a match?!”

”For real? A public match?!”

”What’s Young Master Bu’s skill level like?!”

”Don’t know! Some say he’s terrible, others say he’s great, it’s all so unclear!”

”Could Young Master Bu be training the team?!”

”Probably!”

”Enough’s enough, no matter the reason, I’m definitely watching this match.”

”Absolutely, absolutely! Young Master Bu is playing publicly! Awesome!”

”Watching, definitely watching!”

”...”

Instantly, the internet buzzed with excitement!

Lu Xiaobu and the champion team—it was just such an exhilarating combination to think about!

They believed it had to be a spectacular match, after all, it’s being broadcasted online for the whole world to see. If they weren’t somewhat confident, they wouldn’t just ask to be criticized like that, right?

Right, Lu Xiaobu had confidence, plenty of it.

However, cough, cough, cough!
